Ye there's actually a lot of easter eggs like this in the shows. Like I remember in Torchwood, there was a poster on the wall for Harold Saxon in season 2 I think it was. There is also several examples of magpie technologies throughout too which roots back to the season 2 episode "the idiots lantern"

I love that they gave Sarah Jane and Davros a moment, what other show can boast a reunion like that after decades? Also the shout outs to Owen and Tosh, so many good examples of ‘fan service’ and connectivity/continuity done right. Looking back this is one of the best of episodes of Nu Who no doubt.

I loved your reaction to seeing Rose and the Doctor running towards each other. I was the same way, Rose is my favorite companion and 10 is my Doctor. Loved the crossovers because I was watching all three shows at the time. The timing of the regeneration caught me off guard as well.

I remember when this episode was first on. It was SUCH an epic bit of television! I was watching all the crossovers at the time, so I was seriously excited and hyped. On top of that, I was an old-school fan, so knew all about Davros too. The end cliff-hanger was the real icing on the cake. Everyone went nuts and immediately started wondering who was going to be the next Doctor. Everyone was in shock and wondered how they'd managed to keep it quiet that David Tennant was leaving.

Walf eh, not really. I’d say Day of the Doctor exactly matched this arc in terms of hype. The only difference was it was only one episode, so no cliffhanger to keep people on edge
Day of the Doctor is way overrated in my opinion, I may have forgiven it if it didn’t spend so much damn time on the Zygons, which actually lessened their return.

One of the greatest cliff-hangers in all of TV history in my view, apart from possibly perhaps, Turn Left!!!??? Brilliant TV moment! Dr Who is such a monumental, genius, genuine show, I will always love it regardless.
Davros the creator of the Daleks first appeared in “Genesis of the Daleks” in 1975 where 4th Doctor, Sarah Jane & Harry where sent in a mission from the Time Lords to stop the Daleks from being created
In RTD headcanon this is the official “attack” in what would become the Last Great Time War,
Davros would fight 5 & 6 with his last appearance on TV being 7 sending a Time Lord weapon to blow up Skaro & his ship but clearly he survived and 8 or 9 tried to save him in the Time War

I knew it was Davros almost immediately, and I levitated about six inches out of my chair with the force of my shriek.
I've watched a few reaction channels, and I have to say that this channel is the most reactive I've found; not just a comment here and there, heartfelt reactions.
I was too caught up in my own first time to notice how I felt and what I thought at the time, but watching this gets me close to it.

You're completely right about how this was received when it was first shown. The regeneration was completely untrailed, a total shock. We had no idea a new Doctor was even on the way. Most gobsmacking thing on Dr Who ever.
I remember when I watch this episode I was in a computer lab and when Harriet jones died I screamed so hard that everyone in the place jumped. I was 12 or 13 year old back then, over 10 years ago. wow time snap in a blink of an eye.

oh THE STOLEN EARTH..... 11 summers ago this aired and wow.... an entire nation was watching this story.... The twists, the union of all THREE RTD era shows (DW, SJA, TW) altogether facing an iconic, dangerous, epic feel..... and that cliffhanger made headlines everywhere leading to the most watched episode of DW ever (non christmas/special episode anyway) epic!
This was the most exciting thing ever when I was 14 😂 Davies really pulled an Avengers on tv the year Iron Man came out in cinema, amazing 😂
I like to view this as the victory run finale: "Look at this massive fuck off universe we were able to achieve after years of being shut down. How do you like us now, BBC?! Love Russell."
Actually there is special comic in which they made Harriet escape using trap door - as we didn't see her actually die. Also I love how even Daleks played into the stupid joke of knowing who she is.

I *REALLY* wish that this was his actual regeneration. The cliffhanger was so good and then it was all just a cop out. My ideal resolution to this would be
1. Sarah Jane gets saved
2. Torchwood gets exterminated
3. The Doctor regenerates.
It would've been so dope if they followed through.

When I saw Rose and The Doctor finally see each other and run to each other I was bawling and then he got shot and started regenerating I couldn’t believe it was happening. I was like no not again. Not him too, first Eccleston then Tennent. And I had been binge watching on Netflix back then so it was all too soon for me. Within weeks. I’m still mad about Eccleston to be honest and it’s been years now.

Your description of caan going back😂😂😂 this episode is just absolute hype, doesn’t get much better than this. Crossover, Davros, and a shock regeneration. It really was a huge shock for everyone at the time because no new Doctor had been announced, it made the National news it was that big, the press didn’t even get a preview tape of episode 13 it was that secretive!
Cannot wait for the next episode. It has been hard to wait with so many two parters this seasons!
This part of the finale holds up way better than I remember it, even though I still don't care for Rose personally so a lot of her stuff doesn't land. The promise of this episode feels undercut by the next, I think.
