Don't know if you spotted this, but the Subwave network was created by the Mr. Copper foundation-- Mr. Copper was the guide from the Titanic that the Doctor brought down to earth.
This was the first ever episode in the history of Doctor Who to get to the number 1 slot in the UK TV charts for the week. It was mental. Davros (Davross not Davrose) is another villain appearing from classic Who.

What is super cool for me is the callbacks to Classic Who. - Sarah Jane Smith KNOWS Davros. She was travelling with Doctor #4 when he first met Davros. Oh, yes. The old Doctor Who 1975 six parter "Genesis of the Daleks" introduced Davros and the creation of the Daleks. Sarah Jane was there. - The Daleks will try/tried to steal the Earth in 2050 in the 1964 1st Doctor story "Dalek Invasion of Earth".
That Rose and the Doctor running towards eachother scene hurts so much. It brought us to the peak of happiness and knocked us down. My heart can't take it
People watching this now have no idea how big a deal this episode was. This made headline news on TV, speculation was rife as to who the next Doctor was going to be and it was all that was spoken about for a week. It literally had the world talking.
It's fun that all these planets that have been stolen were mentioned: Lost Moon Of Poosh (Season 4 episode 10 - Midnight) when the Doctor was speaking to Dee Dee, The Adipose homeworld that made Earth the target of reproduction, Paravillion (From the Pompeii episode) gotta love that continuity. Also the Harriet Jones return was so cool!
Fun fact this is NOT the first time Bernard Cribbins (Wilf) had to deal with the Daleks invading the Earth! He co-starred opposite the Peter Cushing Doctor in the 1960s Daleks Invasion Earth movie!!!
I remember watching this and being just as shocked by the regeneration at the end. It's sad, but don't worry, I'm sure you'll like the version he regenerates into just as much.
Jay - Like I mentioned last week - Fasten your seat belt for this episode and the next! I know it was a gut-punch to see the Doctor running to Rose, only to be fatally wounded .The next episode will pull on every single emotional heart-stream in your body!

You should watch the old serial "Genesis of the Daleks". In the beginning, The Time Lords (who are still around at this time). pluck The Doctor, Sarah Jane and another Companion out of time and send them to Skarro. It is also cool to watch as most fans consider this to be the opening shot of what will later be called "The Last Great Time War"
I know you've already watched the next episode, lol. I'm really looking forward to your reaction to it. A little shocked that you gave MVP to Rose on the last episode, I mean Donna gave her life to save the world and the timeline, lol. Great reaction today.
I really like that you have same ractions I had when watching these episodes, I was excited, confused, worried. I can see it on your face, mate. happy to see joy :)
Your reaction reminds me of myself I was 6 years old back in 2008 when the episode aired on BBC. I remembered watching this I was jumping in my pyjamas when I first saw this episode it was by far the most epic Doctor Who Ark there are later ones that give it a run for it’s money but for me it’s always the most epic.
When this aired, it had no “next time” after it. You had to wait till the following Thursday for a trailer, which revealed NOTHING. I nearly threw my laptop across the room when I watched this episode hahaha
Get ready for a finale that will take you on an emotional rollercoaster - I watched this on transmission in 2008 and I still haven’t recovered from the finale yet!
i love how all the communication networks on Earth still work even though it has been moved :D The Moon left behind but took the Earth with all their satellites in their orbits and still perfectly working 🤦♀
Fab reaction, this episode is SUCH a roller coaster. Here is what Russel T Davies said about the episode, after watching the Dub and he sums it up pretty well 😉: "It is the most magnificent, bollocking mental, bloody wonderful extravaganza ever seen on screen. That is a fact. It's like having chocolate, and whisky, and steak, and cigarettes, while making love to a porn star on a luxury yacht in outer space. Dear God, it's brilliant." (From The Writer's Tale)
Way back when this aired... this was my first ever Doctor Who episode. I didn't know anything of the show and jumped in to this. To this day I'm still surprised I got into the show after that
This cliffhanger is not only one of the best they've ever done, but it leads into what many consider to be the best episode of Doctor Who, overall. Both classic and new. Although I may have a bias because I'm also one of those people 😅
You can’t help but wonder what happened to Rose during all that time. She kinda changed a lot, sometimes in ways that the Doctor doesn’t accept (which doesn’t automatically make it bad), like, she is obviously some sort of a warrior now. She literally carries a metal gun that’s almost as big as her and must be very heavy, and walks away from explosions so calmly, like she’s seen hundreds of them. Considering these changes, the end of her arc that’s coming soon really makes sense. Won’t spoil it here, but it really does.
The reunion of Davros and Sarah Jane Smith...epic. Absolutely epic. This two parter is another perfect storyline. Well...of course moving a planet and collecting 27 planets without a nearby sun would probably kill everything off, but besides the impossibility, it is perfect.
You’ve still got part 2 to go and I can’t wait to see your reaction to it because it will blow your mind. Take care 😘 From a Scottish Whovian and big David Tennant fan. He’s my fave doctor and I’ve watched doctor who since the 3rd incarnation starring Jon Pertwee. Stay safe and I’ll catch you for part 2
Russell T Davies is still the best show-runner & writer in 60 years of this show. Thank the Gods he has regenerated and will be back in a few months time. We need him!!
She didn't forget. When 9 regenerated, it took time for her to accept 10, and she felt like the Doctor abandoned her in a time of need because he was unconscious for most of the episode. Over time, Rose fell in love with 10, but she lost him when she was taken to the parallel Earth. You can tell during this episode that she came here to help, but she desperately wanted to see him again, too. So, of course, she's going to stay by his side for as long as she can before he becomes someone else again.
I really hope RTD2 will build up to another Avengers infinity war/Endgame style storyline. His world-building during his first era was one of the best and really emphasises how beautiful his first era was.
