Hi Mary, I wanted to know if there is a place where I can purchase, chocolate chips without any bioengineered ingredients? Also how much does it cost. I started to notice lately that most of the food has disclaimers on the label, it state "contains bioengineered ingredients " including Nestle chocolate chips morsels.

Hey Mary! The statement on the oats of "no glyphosphates" is important. Organic doesn't actually mean it is totally free of them. As you may know, Roundup is used not only in early growth, but after growth and before harvest to have it all dry up at the same time to make harvests easier. SO, the USDA allows an organic label if the roundup isn't used in growth, but doesn't consider harvesting "growth", and allows it to be used in harvesting. I recently learned this and just wanted to scream.

When my middle son was very young, he broke out with warts on the underside of his arm, it had spread out of control. I added Manuka honey to his diet along with making a paste out of Manuka honey and colloidal silver. I rubbed the paste on all the warts and within a couple days, they were all gone, and I mean all GONE!

Thank you so much for all the wonderful kitchen info, both food and equipment. I’m in the process of becoming whole food plant based, so even though I will not be making some of the actual recipes, such as bone broth, you still have such an abundance of recipes that I love and look forward to making. I love the idea of making medicinal recipes, baking my own breads, using foods without additives, and in general feeding my family as healthfully as I can. Again thank you for sharing such useful information and helping all of us to live as healthfully as possible. God’s blessings and keep up such good work! Louise J

Vitamix sold me when I found out you can make custard in them. I’ve tried many times to make one on the stovetop but inevitably get distracted and stop stirring and then end up with scrambled eggs. It’s nice to just be able to throw all the ingredients in the blender for 6-10 minutes and have it be perfectly smooth and cooked to the proper temperature. Love the video. 😊

We reached out to them when a couple of our lids broke, and they sent us replacement lids for free. They are solid red in color. But after years of use, we've needed start replacing the lids.

Walmart sells he Joie silicone bags for $5.50/3 pcs. They’ve worked great. I like that the packs are all one size. Large and medium. The small ones are pretty useless in any brand for me so just being able to choose one size or another is nice.

That rice is an excellent buy! A word on dried beans, I stored some with oxygen absorbers from 2012 and when I went to cook them in 2021 , the crock pot could not do the job. After all day cooking, they were still a good bit hard, not edible. I decided to try cooking them in the Instant Pot and it actually softened the beans and they were edible and delicous. I have since read that happened because dried beans are not a forever stored item. Just be aware to rotate your dried beans.

When you soak them, for one pound of beans soak in 8 1/2 cups purified water with 3Tablespoons kosher salt and 1 3/4 teaspoons baking soda. Rinse well after soaking, then cook in purified water. Hard water also contributes to difficult to cook beans. This works for very stubborn or old beans. Cook the normal way. The flavor is delicious, skins are tender and creamy interior. MAGIC!

You know, Mary, when it's absolutely stupid-hot in Summer months, you actually can take your toaster-oven OUTSIDE to do your cooking on the porch or perhaps out on the patio. Whether you have an external power outlet or use extension cords, you can fire up the oven and use it to bake those cakes or roast those chickens, etc. The same applies to your instapot or slow cooker. This is definitely the argument in favor of setting up an outside (or "canning") kitchen.
If you have a shed or you have the space for one (and can afford it), this might be a good option.
I don't know if you have a solar generator (such as a Jackery or a Kodiak) and solar panels.
I sincerely hope that you do.
I've learned that many over-landers and American Nomads (people living The Van Life or The RV Life) have been using their solar generators to power their instapot and regularly cooking their meals on the road using solar power. I'm pretty-sure you could also use it for your toaster oven. Possibly also an electric grill. This is something any of us can do in our own back yards, saving money AND keep the house from baking in Summer.
Of course, I cannot forget about the solar oven. Cook outside... with zero gas or electric. That's a very good option.
( The All-American Sun Oven is definitely on my Wish-List.)
I don't remember if you have a solar generator and panels and/or sun oven. If you do I'd love to see that content.
I noticed something. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the newest Food Saver vacuum-sealer includes new jar lid attachments. Did I see that correctly or do I need glasses? On that note, I saw in another video that FoodSaver actually has a stand-alone jar-lid vacuum-sealer. It's battery-operated and it just pops onto the lid and sucs out the air. I think I need one.
BTW, since I'm reminding myself of glasses... that's another Prep you can stock up on at Costco. If you use reading glasses, you can buy a 3-pack of readers to keep for Just-In-Case. Okay, it's not Pantry-related... but it is Preps.
I've been wanting a vacuum-sealer for awhile now. My Emeril pot has a sous-vide mode and I want to try that out.
I've been thinking about using Sous-Vide cooking as a Prepping technique. I'd sous-vide some steaks (a big batch), then let them cool and throw them into the freezer. Stack them vertically. Whenever I want steak or chicken, I pull out a sealed pack, thaw it out, cut it open and sear the outsides (or possibly air-fry it) and Dinner Is Done.
It seems to me that sous-vide + freezer = Not needing to use oxy-absorbers. (I think I'm right.)
PLEASE I want everyone's opinions about my thoughts and theories and ideas. Let me know if you agree with my opinions... OR teach me what your experience has taught you.
I mean no sarcasm when I say, "Correct me if I'm wrong".

I was just chatting about the Instapot Max the other day with this group because in addition to it being able to can 4 pint jars at a time, it has a sous vide feature ...
Also, the All American Sun Oven can dehydrate as well...and right now they have available the stackable 2 black enamel pots with a glass lid back in stock that fits perfectly in the oven. If you spatchcock a chicken, it will fit right down in one of the pots perfectly.
Speaking of sous vide steaks...you can take your med-rare steak leftovers, vacuum seal them, toss in freezer if you like, then sous vide them to bring them back up to temperature without overcooking them.
If you vacuum seal and toss in freezer, dont use oxygen absorbers...not needed. Mary has a few videos showing how to use a few different FoodSaver devices, including an old and new style hand held jar vacuum sealer.

I saw that one, @@irisdude and now I'm covetous. It's on my wish-list and I might just go ahead and buy it now. I have lots of jars and I use them to store nuts 'n stuff. That little doohickey is just what I need. I also need a jar lid attachment... but yeah. Soon, I think.

It is awesome that you are educating on plant self defense chemicals. All plants contain anti-nutrients and the seeds of those plants contain concentrated amounts because they need that for the new plant as it sprouts and grows.
To properly prepare rice to cut down on arsenic and anti-nutrients, soak the rice in water with about 1/4 cup of raw ACV with the mother for 24 hours or so. I rinse the rice also, before and after speaking, until it runs pretty clear. I also just learned that it should be cooked in 6 to 10 times the water as rice, so it boils out more arsenic and then rinse it when done.

Regarding the kitchen items, I’ve been able to save a lot of money buying returned items off of Amazon. There’s a version of those wire shelves in the “Amazon Basics” brand and I was able to buy 2 for about $60-70 each because someone had returned them to Amazon for dinged up packaging. The shelves themselves were in perfect condition. I also got an Instant Pot Duo Plus that way for about $70. Under the normal price it sometimes says “Save with Used” and you can browse through the stock of the Amazon warehouse there. I always check that now when I’m going to make a larger purchase, I’m happy to save substantially for a dented box

@@jayceewedmak9524 it will give details like “used - like new. Product will come in original packaging; packaging will be damaged.” Or “used - good. Minor cosmetic defect to item, will come in original packaging” 😁 I’ve bought some cosmetic defect stuff and it’s usually just a small scratch or sometimes a scuff that I can even wipe off myself. The only one I personally won’t risk is when it says there are pieces or screws/assembly bits missing. But even if you order one of the used items, it shouldn’t prevent you from returning it. So if you order “like new” with damaged packaging and the actual product is damaged you should be able to return the item.

But, I did want to suggest that you can wash and wipe plates and cups with a vinegar/water dilution of 1:6 ratio in a spray bottle. This is good for camping too. Just be sure that the item you are spraying with the vinegar solution is not reactive to the acid in the vinegar.

I'm looking forward to learning lots of valuable information from you! It is funny that you are talking about small appliances. I am not in the process of throwing my stove/oven out and putting in more counter in its place with shelves underneath to store all my can't live without small appliance like my slow cooker, instapot, etc. My husband purchased one of those table top ovens for me at Costco (it can cook a 20 pound turkey and its a 12 in 1. It even makes popcorn! And I purchased the same 2 burner hot plate I used at the beach. It works fabulously. The best part is I have the same features as a stove/oven only this combo was only about $180 before taxes. and when I am not using the hotplate it is put away not taking up my counterspace.

Your tea pot is so adorable! I have the one from Costco and I absolutely love it! I’ve purchased organic herbs from Mountain Rose and I’ve made my own tea blends, so this tea pot is wonderful! I bought my daughter a Vitamix for Christmas last year when they were on sale. I’ve had mine for about 12 years and love it. She loves hers too, and the kids love the smoothies she makes! I bought some of those silicone bags at Aldi’s that were a bit less expensive, but they were all the sandwich size. Those USA made pans are the best! I bought a set of those too, lol! I have the bread loaf pans too! I have found that they are the best made pans out there. I love buying the peeled garlic, onions and mushrooms for freeze drying.
Sweet Berry Farms opened this weekend in Marble Falls. I plan on heading up there soon to pick strawberries for freeze drying and making jam. If you’ve never been, you should go. The tulips should be ready soon.
Ruta Maya is my favorite too. Both the Austin and Cedar Park store have been out of them the last few times I went, but they were finally in stock last week. I had to buy 2 bags just in case. I like to brew my coffee and then freeze dry. So much better than commercial instant coffee!
I think I’ve purchased just about everything that you’ve shown on your video (with the exception of a few of the appliances). Now I’m feeling like a mega prepper 😳. I love the Manuka honey and I make sure I always have it, as well as regular honey. My daughter is a nurse and has 4 kids. I introduced her to Manuka and she uses it when the kids are sick.

Ms. Mary, as you likely know, different local Costco's carry different items according to their demographic. I found this out because my hairdresser lives in Pflugerville and I shop there for Tillamook Sharp chedder cheese that our Costco (we're neighbors😉) no longer carries 😔. They also carry my favorite oyster sauce as well, so I stock up whenever I'm in need & getting my hair done. AAAALL this to say! LOL They do carry the large bags of pinto beans. I was just at the Pflugerville Costco and they carry a 25 lb. bag for 18.99. I don't believe they're organic, but still! Excellent find! I know it's quite a haul for you to go there, but may be worth the trip for no more often than you'd be buying them. I'd love to say I'd get them for you the next time I'm out that way, but since you don't know me from Adam, that may be a bit too weird. 😉🤣

THANK YOU so much for the bone broth recipes! I used marsala wine because that’s what I had and never thought of using orange peels! It was delicious and my bone broth turned into brown jello it was so cool!

I use a turkey roaster with a foil liner. Braise meat, pull it to rest cool and cut. Out comes foil, in goes up to ten lbs vege and broth and seasonings. One hour later add meat for 30 minutes. Boom, food for ten, fifteen if you have bread.
