Great! So nice to have all chords in 1 video :) There is also 1 nice trick for the 7th chords. Sometimes it's not that obvious what is the 7th step of the scale if you don't know the scale, let's say D major scale. To find the 7th for Dmaj7 just go 1 semitone to the left from D - and it's C# (So Dmaj7=D F# A C#). With minor 7th it's similar but with 2 semitones to the left. So From D, 2 semitones to the left is C (Dmin7=D F A C). Some time ago I created a video about it so feel free to check it out :) it's quite useful when you want to quickly find the 7th :)
I bought a keyboard about a month ago, and this channel has been my number 1 source of learning, thanks a lot! This video is great and easy to understand 💙
My goodness! This has been at the top of my wish list for a long time, but never got around to completely research it. Today, it plops right into my lap. Thank you!!! Never really understood diminished and augmented cords, and you just blew my mind.
Hello Professor ....great job you did...can you also explain the symbols...Example: I know how to say C major 7th...the symbol correct me if I am wrong...C7...the symbol for C minor 7....C_7 C Diminished 7....Cdim7...I let you do this ..teaching us the symbols....thanks again
I played guitar for over 30 years and trying to understand the nature of cords. I only new the cords but never had a lesson explained to me like this. Great to have as my music teacher.
Great video. Thank you for sharing the basics, how to form the chords. Suggestion: Could you speak a bit slower? (yes I know we can pause, rewind, and watch) but it helps newbies like me. :D Thank you so much though for making this video.
This is soooo hard. I can’t digest all of this in one class as a beginner. 😢Is the course offered in the paid program goes just as fast and hard? I was planning to take the paid version. Now I’m hesitant. If it’s gonna go this fast, I’m gonna get lost. What should I do? This is why I failed out of most of my music classes in college. They were going so fast and I had no foundation of it all.
She does a good job. I only wish she didn't have that funny piece of jewelry poking out of her right nostril. I looks like she did a seriously bad job blowing her nose and distracts from what she is trying to teach.
This is possibly a really daft question, but are the chords the same for the left hand as they are for the right? As a learner I am ok with my right hand and most of the sheet music for beginners I have only one or two notes are played with the right hand at one time but the left hand has the chords. I'm confused!
Thank you Lisa. We always appreciate your patience to teach us the theory of music. Today' theory together with inversions is the best way to burn my brain.
This was interesting & informative! Thx! NOW...what about all those weird chords. G7sus4, Eb9(#11), Ab6??? (Just glancing thru a pop book l have.) And l see chords on lead sheets that are 11 & 9s. I know l had this in theory classes, but they always make me crazy!!! And having very small hands...well that's no fun at all! (Can't play octaves in R hand, can sometimes in L!) I enjoy your videos!!!
Awesome A good teacher is always a good teacher.👍 Please, my problem is when to apply some of them while playing. I studied most of them before, but if you are not using them, they will just disappear. Please play a song, illustrating when to apply them while playing songs and this will also be helpful for people watching you. Thanks and God bless you.
I thought the correct terminology was "flatted" rather than "flattened' , and "sharped" rather than"sharpened". I recall a piano teacher making a point (pun not intended but happily there) of instilling this info. No squashed or pointy notes for this word need!
Thanks Lisa! But the missing bit of information is that it's the 3rd and 5th note FROM THE SCALE! For example, the first 3 notes in the scale of D are D (1), Fsharp (3) and A (5). If you flatten the 3rd to get D, F and A you now have D minor. I'm sure this is obvious to some, but if, like me, you made your first triad on C, then made your next on D (which will be D minor)... but you then tried to flatten it using the minor rule on the chart (ie flatten the 3rd) then it doesn't work! You have to know that when you get to the D you must now think of the notes in the scale of D.
Thankyou for this Lisa Witt, very usefull and clear. Question? what if we are using another scale than C major? Does this method work then or do we use the circle of fifths?
Hey Lisa and Pianote Team, Thanks again for another super helpful video! My question is about the fingering for the four note chords. Some shapes are really awkward to make, especially with stubby fingers. Is there a formula or do I just have to get my stretch on? Can some keys be played with the left hand? Like maybe the 1? I notice that the 1 is never flatted or sharped.
It's been less than one week since I started learning piano and I have been loving your channel. Thank you for all your content. I was wondering if there is a document that shows which finger to use to play each note while playing a chord? Would it be possible to update/add another image notating the finger alongside the formulas?
Thank u ☺️ u helped alot of beginners like me, i hope this channel will get more subscribers because these types of lessons are paid in school teachers
Thanks so much for this. I have a few piano students and this is so helpful for me to teach them a style other than the strict classical that I was taught. My students are making me be a student again.
notes are like the letters that make up a word and chords are like the words that make up sentences. those sentences are the patterns of chords that you use to make a song!
What a beautiful video. Teaching is surely an art. I use to think of these chords as impossible to learn and understand now that notion has gone all of a sudden. Thank you ❤️
Read more about this lesson and download your FREE "Play Any Chord' PDF here on the Pianote Blog ---> www.pianote.com/blog/all-piano-chords/
Thank you!!
Can she play the chords from "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele? How can the chord pattern be played to easily match the melody?
I bought the Chords and Scales book. Love it!
It would be nice to hear these chords in a popular songs, to see how they cosy up!
beautiful
Great! So nice to have all chords in 1 video :)

it's quite useful when you want to quickly find the 7th :)
another good approach!
I have a question. If I want to find the D major chord, do I just count white keys?
Can i request a song?
It’s “every breath you take”-police
She's so damned adorable I can hardly stand it. Great teacher too.......
I bought a keyboard about a month ago, and this channel has been my number 1 source of learning, thanks a lot! This video is great and easy to understand 💙
promise we've got lots more to come too :)
Mine too hahaha
Which one you bought
@@Godddd144 it's the Yamaha PSR-e360dw, it's pretty 'simple' but it sounds really really good
@@Ezekku ohhh nice
I'm planning to buy yamaha es373
I’ve not had such understanding in my life! I’m playing piano beautifully now!!!
"I don't love the sound of this chord..... but it exists!" always finding the silver lining! :D
My goodness! This has been at the top of my wish list for a long time, but never got around to completely research it. Today, it plops right into my lap. Thank you!!! Never really understood diminished and augmented cords, and you just blew my mind.
Hmm, as a guitarist I expected to see a sus4 in there somewhere, and maybe even a 6 - why so many of the lesser knowns (eg 7b5) in a beginner lesson?
Thank you for always teaching with so much ease. You make piano lessons super interesting and create an eagerness to give them a try! 😉😀
Glad you like them!

Does this same principle apply to minor chords? I tried with A minor and got sorta confused
Every piano player needs to watch this video
This lady is a great teacher I'm only understanding her teaching she knows how to teach and she makes it fun so that you won't get bored
Lisa mam, make a playlist from where we have to start....
absolutely! there is this great effort but all the content is kind of disorganized. A playlist may help
all of the organized content is at pianote.com! this is just a nice way for us to get beginners started on the piano for free :)

Hello Thank you for Teaching Us. But I have question on How to play Bm/A piano Chord. Thank you so much
Hello, Lisa. Excellent lesson and very useful. I love it.Thank you so much. God bless you always. Greetings since Cuba🎹🎶💕
呢首歌個人認為係學友近期最好嘅作品。成張唱片都係好好聽嘅簡單爵士樂,不過香港唔流行,十分可惜。

How to practice all chords
You must have flexible fingers to play the piano ,good hearing nad motor coordination, also attention divisibility

Wait, so if I memorise these chords and how to write them, I can play any sheet music if it has the chord names? 😐
No download
Finally! Now I understand the difference between Cmaj7, dominant 7 and "C7". Been confused for years. Thank you!

How do you use all these variation when reading a partition?
I lob Eb as it has both a very happy satire and a sad kinda tonality to it
I love the suspended 4th or sus4. I love the sound when its followed by it's root chord.
I’m about four weeks into playing piano. I am very much appreciating your lessons!
Brooo! It makes sense! It makes sense! 🤯 Thank you 🥹
