NSW has just made it worse tbh - I meet the minimum criteria still no invitie (Onshore ICT BA 100 pts 2yrs work ek NSW 190)

Obviously the IT cap is very little for NSW 190 and 189. They just want higher pointers.

It has been a tough time for all of us onshore. Many of us are waiting, at the same time paying tax yet locked out from gov benefits such as Medicare, house loan, job opportunities etc.

    Hi Karl,
Thank you so much for these detailed insights. I have not seen anyone else doing such a deep dive into a specific occupation group on TH-cam for everyones' interest. I need your advice on below.
    Context -
I am an ICT professional with EOI lodged with 261312 (Developer Programmer) ANZSCO. I am sitting on (90+5) points score, currently onshore on TSS 482 in NSW - arrived in Syd a month back. Expecting to get another 5 points added by first fortnight of Feb (for onshore 1yr experience i.e. prior 7 months in 2020 + Sep-Feb 2022 5 months = 12 months). This should make me eligible with all NSW 190 requirements.
    Quick queries -
    1. The 6 months "Residence" criteria is immediate last 6 months at either NSW or onshore; OR is it total contiunous 6 months in NSW (irrespective of the year where I stayed in NSW i.e. year 2020).
    2. I will start losing score for age again by Apr 2022 (will become 33 yrs). By when the points claims should be proven - is it when we get nomination from NSW or till nomination approval or is it at the time of invitation to apply for visa?
Also, do you think I might get an invitation for 190 from NSW during that Feb to Apr 2022 period, realistically?
    Thanks in advance!
    Note -
    1. I may not be able to score any higher points as I am already holding superior English score, CCL/ NAATI score and ACS skills assessment done!
    2. My stay in Syd was for 7 continuous months in year 2020. Now I'm again on TSS 482 in Sydney.

I don't agree. ICT or Software is highly sought after. You cannot tell someone not to go into ICT. There are not enough good software engineers. World Wide. Maybe not to get invited but overall, Engineering is a great profession.

    • @franko2053
      @franko2053 ปีที่แล้ว

World wide definetly and will stay in high demand especially for good ones yes. But Australlia is a wealthy country beacuse of geo-economic factors if you look at how much tradies get paid there. For me if it is going to be that hard to get in then I'll just go to other countries like in Western Europe or US where the pay will likely be better in anycase and try my luck later if I still want to.
The problem is and I can see out of Australia gov perspective ICT has a low barrier of entry and they don't want people to use it to migrate to Australia they actually want to fill the skill shortage by sourcing highly skilled people. Hence it is best to go for the a company sponor visa, because good companies don't hire below average Software Engineers and will idealy aim for a good one.
Their problem is by lifting the bar they deter good developers because people won't idealy want to immigrate more than once to improve their quality of life. So basically good software engineers won't necesarrily need to go to Australia to improve their quality if life, unless they want to and I can't imagine many good software engineers thinking "Hey lets move to Australia".

A Developer here with 90 points, waiting for almost 2 years, and still nothing. I have PTE 85, CCL, and every other possible point for an offshore applicant. The problem is not the points, the problem is that there are just a few invitations being issued for us (just a couple 491 by SA and WA). It is like they do not need IT guys since our jobs can be done remotely. Can you and other migration agents email DHA and other related authorities and speak for us?
