    I can vouch for you, Dano! I had Jean Kay's mailed to me and they were wonderful! But I'm out of pasties! I need a road trip!

      You were one who I was referring to - I appreciated the confirmation that I'm not crazy. lol Perfect reason for a road trip. :-)

      I think you would be glad to visit Marquette and there are many places that make good a good pasty but I stand by Jean Kay's being the best. :-)

    We use to have fudge from Mackinaw Island shipped too. It's all good 😊

      They do make it well there. I can't ever think of it without the locals nickname of fudgies. lol

    I went to Jean Kay's about a week ago. Awesome! One of the other campers at Bay Furnace was raving about Muldoons. No comparison! Jean Kay's was 1000% better. I would have never known about them if not for your previous videos. Thanks!

    • @WanderDano
      @WanderDano  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know right!!?? lol I wouldn't personally call Muldoons bad but I didn't think they were in the same conversation as Jean Kay's. lol

      @@WanderDano Maybe I just hit Muldoons on a bad day. The inside was like a big blob of paste and had very little flavor.

      ummm maybe not... lol I did a review of a bunch in the area and pretty sure theirs cam in last for me. I had theirs once and I don't think I'll go again.

    Whoops - beef gravy! How did that happen..??

    • @WanderDano
      @WanderDano  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      many people like them with gravy - I prefer the sauce they make. PLus, you get labeled a "tourist" if you use gravy, most use catsup. I've had it with gravy and it is good - so if a person likes it who cares about labels. lol

    Going to have to order some of these. I'm afraid I'll get hooked. Oh well!

    • @WanderDano

      I make no claims they will change your life - but they are a good simple (simple in an excellent way) hearty meal. :-)

      Fall is coming and football. Maybe some warm foods for cold and game day since everyone likes your cooking. Just a suggestion.

    Dan,I believe you have Italian roots. These are similar to a calzone.
    I live in R.I. and we have vegetable calzones. No tomato sauce.
    Maybe there's a difference in the bread,crust.

    • @WanderDano
      @WanderDano  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm mostly Italian and yeah a calzone is a great thing. Stuffing food into dough and bread is always a good plan. :-) Yes - the crusts are different - the pasty is a bit thinner and more of a PASTRY with the calzone being a bit thicker.

      I've tried many and Jean Kay's are my favorite!! There are others that are good but those are the ones I want. Their spicy pasty sauce is awesome too!! If you get there I don't think the great comfort food will disappoint. :-)

      I have never heard of them until now.

    • @WanderDano
      @WanderDano  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rjr-yp9uj They are kind of a local thing in the UP because of mining. Many people immigrated there to work the mines and they brought the food the used back in Cormwall when down in the mines (Cornish pasty) also miners that immigrated from Finland brought a finnish version. But... there is great pride of pasties in the U.P. and every group seems to want to claim they invented them.
