I went to NMU in the 80s. I loved it! As I've gotten older, I'm much more conservative. I moved away from MI when Whitmer was elected for that reason. Since then, the whole state has gone off the rails! No wonder people are moving to Marquette.
you should know how to plug in your car so you can start it in the winter. #2 know how to drive in snow 6 months a year. #3 know how to shovel heavy snow without getting a hernia or hurt your back. #4 know how to clean your roof off so it doesn't cave in from weight of snow. #5 know how not to get cabin fever from cloudy, wet, drab miserable weather at least 6 months a year. #6 know how to put up with drunks because there is a lot of drinking going on in the U.P. #7 know how to be friendly because the people mostly are friendly. #8 it's very isolated so know how to spend time with yourself.
Also, good luck finding work able to afford the rent in Marquette lately. Luckily I rent from family or we couldn't do it. It's quickly becoming unaffordable for the common. The service industry will continue to suffer. Don't be mad at anybody of service for being overworked and grumpy. Most of them are doing the job of two to three people.
I've been thinking about coming back. Marquette is more appealing the older I get. The isolation of the U.P. is a unique thing, but if you are content with your life, it is a great place to be.
Sounds like it’s time to get back to Marquette! One does need to be okay with the isolation for sure. I mean when you’re living there and you’re used to it, it doesn’t really feel that isolated really!
@@LivingInMarquetteMichigan I like the idea of getting back to the isolation. Been living around Detroit for a long time now, met my wife down here. She loves it up there, especially the winter. It comes down to money/jobs. I'd be fine with my line of work; she would probably take a pay cut.
I guess it just comes down to the way of life and can you make it work if you decided to make a move to Marquette! Either way, happy to help on. Either way, happy to help on both fronts! I’m licensed for the state of MI and can help folks relocate really anywhere!
Is Gwinn a good place to live? Is there any support for autistic children in the area? I hear the tech indsutry is moving into the area. Do you suspect it will drive house prices in the surrounding area way up in the near future? How is the aviation work out there?
Feel free to reach out! Gwinn is actually where I attended school! Very small town, has some nice areas and lots of lakes in the area. The housing prices all around Marquette county has gone up recently with the lack of inventory and people moving up here with more remote work.
Suggestion: Step about 2 feet back from the camera. Your face takes the whole screen, and if you are watching in a 55-inch tv, you take the whole living room.

Oh boy your number 3…that is something I don’t like to do! Shovel snow off the roof!

No autism support. Gwinn not so great. Portage MI tops for autism support and rated #1 place to live in MI.

Nothing like my face on your big screen!
No wonder you guys all like Green Bay Packers up there cause you go to Wisconsin for all your goods.
Haha, well there is much of the UP that are Packers fans. I am most definitely a Lions fan still!
