I can very much sympathize with your reaction. Because Kanami sings a moving song through the guitar. And all the members praise the song through their instruments.

8th song on the setlist at Dallas. They had Miku turned up in the mix and it was raw power. They kept their eyes on their fretboards a lot more than usual too. This band never ceases to amaze me.

Totally agree with you, Didy. Incredible instrumental, up on Onset which is already a incredible instrumental song. Like you, Tears from the MV ( and all of them). If you look the three last MV of Band Maid, they produce very very beautiful videos with amazing quality and they are all different. This Band is phenomenal. Pure rock made by ladies who love only make music, no star system, and they want share their pleasure.
"lucky bastards who went to see them in the american tour", I hope you know how lucky you are to see and hear them in real life.
Because in Europe, we are waiting for them to come, like someone waiting for the messiah. Nothing religious in my words, just fun to come and share. Even if I'm ready to consider all 5 of them as goddesses... of rock.

At first, Band-Maid's instrumentals were supposed to give Saiki a short break - after her throat operation. But it was years ago and her voice didn't show any sign of vocal fatigue since then, especially during the long US tour. So I would say first instrumental maybe came out of necessity (or caution), but now they are just another way for them to display their talent.

Hey Didy glad you're back! I had the pleasure of seeing this live TWICE (Philadelphia & New Jersey), I was second row in front of Miku for Philly, on the rail Kanami side in NJ... it was magical both shows, but being in front of Kanami in Jersey for this epic masterpiece was damn near spiritual... she gave it her all, & nailed it note for note! 🥺😢😭🥰

I think that, with some segments the the (musical) listening community, Band Maid suffers from what I refer to as the "Too Many Superstars Phenomenon". To illustrate, let's use the fine American game of basketball (although the man credited with inventing the game -- James Naismith -- was born and raised in Canada...hey, he was living in America at the time that he pioneered the game, so that makes it an American game, doesn't it? Maybe? Hey, if Arch Enemy can go to America to get a lead guitarist, and to Canada to get a lead vocalist, and still refer to themselves as a Swedish band....Anyway, when a basketball team gets one superstar, most people are relatively fine with this -- its the common desire of any team's fans to want a superstar, and many teams have one. Then this same team gets a second superstar -- fans of many other teams get a little edgy. Then a third superstar -- now other fans are getting downright snarky. A fourth? Millions are sending notices of complaint to league headquarters, demanding action to right this wrong. A fifth? Every newspaper, magazine, blog, chat room, TV news show (sports or otherwise), Internet site and barroom crowd are screaming "Basketball is Corrupt! No one has five superstars! It's not natural! Something must be done! I HATE this team!!!!!". What has this to do with Band Maid? Well, way back in the years 2014-2016, many people noticed the marvelous skills of Akane and Misa (individually and together) -- how could you not? "OK, their 'team' has two superstars. Kanami is OK. Let's ignore Saiki, and make fun of Miku. And let's slam the band a little -- two superstars, and in a 'newbie' all-girl band from Japan? They're getting off easy". Well, eventually it becomes impossible for even hardened cynics not to notice Kanami's skill level. "A third superstar? That's not right. I'm going to know it in my mind, but I'll never say it out loud." Soon it becomes evident that she (with a little help from her friends) is also one of the most gifted composers and riff-masters (don't you dare say lick-masters) in all of popular music "That's like they're getting the 'Sixth person of the Year' as well!"
Now Saiki begins to get praise from all corner's of the globe -- Yoshiki (the man banging the sticks in "Sadistic Desire", the ultra-popular celebrity, and friend of the Emperor) lets everyone know that he thinks that Saiki is a superstar. "Four!!!...well, at least we still have Miku to bag-on". Then, Miku becomes a skilled player on the rhythm guitar in an amazingly short period of time, and those who were formally ignorant finally discover how much she has done for the band (much of it behind the scenes) -- even before there was a "Band Maid" -- and what a plethora of gifts she actually has. "I hate this band! They're overrated!! They suck!!! If they weren't a bunch of girls from Japan...!!!! And, hey, sing all of your damn lyrics in English so that people can understand them!!!!! Five superstars and a defacto 'Sixth Player of the Year'...I hate you, I hate you, I hate you, Band-Aid...yeah, you heard me!!!!!! (Mr. Didymalgia, I do hope that it is obvious what song has to be the background for this diatribe?). No one could like Band-Aid, ever!!!!!!! Fortunately, the majority of even the most hate-mongering trolls have been forced to face the facts. In your face, creatures -- Band Maid the Great, Forever!!!!!
What do you mean that this piece is too long? Hey, it took you less time to read this than it took for 2014, 2015 and 2016 (combined, in real time) to come off of the calendar...well, a little less time....

As you said, this is Kanami's song , but Miku's rhythm playing was also fantastic- from the pick slides during the intro and throughout. Misa's melodic solo's are just musically stunning- not too fancy- just perfect like the Dawn Winery Theme. Cheers Didy.

Long black hair, black tunic, smoky black bass, lurking in the black shadows, beside the black stack, for most of the song. A true Barefoot Assassin. Ah Church man, that studio live is magic. Everytime I’m in the mood for instrumentals I very often start with that. Just sets me in this calm listening mode. Easily among my all time favs. Their “Gunfire” is 🔥 as well.
From now on is quickly climbing the ranks in the last few weeks.
Btw if you’re into instrumentals, check out Lisa X band. Only 2 MVs so far and not instrumentals but their songs are heavily leaning towards the instrumental section. “Looking upto you” might be my most played song this year.
Another similarly leaning song that I have on repeat lately is “The perfect world” by Marty Friedman. The solo section is epic as hell.
Among actual instrumentals, Polyphia’s “Ego death” featuring Steve Vai gets me on the feels a lot too.
Interestingly the MVs for all of them adds a lot to the emotional depth for me.
