I have two AC50s on my 10g guppy/endler tank. I have one of the new ones along with the old model. Definitely notice a difference in flow between the two. They do a nice job keeping the tank water clean. Great filters!
The filter media was not properly sealed and the dust made its way through the box and onto everything... could have scratched the plastic a bit... would give it a short rinse and see if it is still ok... and not worry too much about it... With the amount of fish you got in there you could easily get by with just the aqua clear 30 and some good siporax rings. and maybe some filter fleece that you occasionally wash out. In addition adding a lot more plants will do the trick as they offer more surface area for beneficial bacteria and filtration while also taking out more of the nutrients. You could easily hide the heater and the aqua clear intake in the corner with some moss , add some mossballs and maybe some fast growing hygrophilia pysperma sunset or something like that... all those would be probably far cheaper and more appealing than the additional filter... oh yeah and if you haven´t already some more neo caridina shrimps and some snails to help with waste management...
If I needed it and the scratches would be hidden in the tank, I would go ahead and install it. The fish won’t mind, but I typically pay close attention to the condition of items I buy. If something arrives damaged or not as described, I usually return it for a replacement.
@@scavenger80HD i too worked at pet stores... 3 different ones... all chain stores, one was a small chain.... we'd help people with a lot of this stuff, aquaclear we always recommended for fresh water or brackish.... aside from the 10 or so i bought i have opened probably 100 other aquaclears and set them up for people...
only thing aqueon is just ok for is if you need to set up and run it when another filter fails.... they work but on the bio end of the filtration they got nothing.
oh and yes very opinionated hobby^^ the spongefilter from fluval 10:48 is absolutely bad... to fine and it really does not hold up for very long... I bough some cheap noname intake sponge filters in a 12 pack from amazon and they are working... fluval one did cost as much as almost 8 of the noname and while the first noname is just got replaced (was still functional after 12months) the fluval started disintegrating after only 2months.
I'll look into those noname ones. So far the fluval ones are holding up, except for the one that got stretched out that I replaced in this vid. That one was about 6 weeks old at the time. The one on my 30 has been there for about 2 months now so I guess I'll see how much longer it goes. Thanks for all the tips, and for being cool about it. I have a lot of re-learning to do as I really just started getting back into it over the past year. I used to be deep in the hobby back in the mid 90's and even managed a 200+ tank fish room at a local store, but wow have things changed since then.
Good filter

I'll definitely have to check out the new version. Thanks for watching!
I would send it back
You should have gone with the latest version being they just came out with it.
I honestly didn't even know about it. I'll check it out for sure. Thanks for watching!

I beleieve fluval is the newer version
You will need a biger tank..when the fish grow
i've bought over 10 aquaclear filters over the years and never had one come out of the box all chalky like that.
This was a first for me too. Even back in the day when I worked in a fish store I never saw a filter come out of the box like this.
