Well done! President Washington truly understood God’s message of patience and tolerance which is one of the reasons he was loved by his troops. A remarkable man. ❤️🇺🇸

To the folks at Mount Vernon, thank you for bringing the thoughts and words of our greatest secretary and leader, to the present day. Freedom of religion was a cornerstone of our country, and many today can learn how our country's freedoms came to be, and are today. 🗽🇺🇲

Washington had faults, as we all do. But he was able to learn and grow. For instance, he fought against the Indians early in his career but later worried that they(the Indians) would be unfairly taken advantage of in treaties. I'm reading about James Madison and it was because of him, George Washington and the other founding fathers that "they could create a government that preserved the Revolution's exhilarating ideals yet functioned effectively."
How many other Revolution's throughout the world have not been able to accomplish this while ours is still going strong?

This video makes several sects seem like they were all extremely different and all intolerant which wasn't true. The different Christian sects have differences but the essential belief of who Jesus is, how to get to heaven and how to deal with sin are all the same. So the believers of the different sects were not so divided as the video makes them seem. The men who signed the Declaration were Congregationalists, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, 1 Catholic etc. yet they all prayed together in one accord for the success of the Revolution. Same with the Constitution.

GW's secretary was like Thomas Jefferson in many ways. Both were born in Virginia, Both supported religious freedom, and despite their hate of slavery they enslaved many innocent people and brutally oppressed them but unlike Jefferson, GW's secretary did the one thing that Jefferson would not. GW's secretary put his anti slavery beliefs into practice and freed the people that he enslaved in his will. Although he wasn't perfect GW's secretary freed the people that he enslaved and made sure that they were taken care of and never publicly raped enslaved women unlike Jefferson who did of course not free all of the people that he enslaved despite writing that all people were created equal and personally opposing slavery continued to profit from slavery and brutally oppressed the people that he enslaved and most likely raped Sally Hemings.

I think its unjust to assume someone was raped based on facts that have nothing to do with rape. You think just because she was black and he was white and older, she was raped? She was taken care of and her requests and demands were heard and Jefferson respected them. Jefferson was in a position that made it impossible to free slaves without losing his property, the same was true for GW. TJ wrote down how upset he was over the shackles of being a slave owner. He was enraged. Its like telling you to walk to work instead of driving a car but having to leave at the same time because people expect you to drive. You know driving a car is bad for the environment so you either do the right thing and walk only to be fired or you continue to do the bad thing because you want to keep your job that others depend on for the good of the people despite how you feel. He was in between a rock and hard place. God forbid he chose to continue his job because it was what everyone depended on.

Even before th 2minute mark, it appears you have rewritten history, suggesting that Protestants were merely excommunicated for their beliefs, while only catholics were martyred for theirs. Mye. I am sorry that I ever donated to Mount Vernon (stopped donating after a USC event wherein a Mt Vernon sponsored speaker, +/- 2018, defended porn as a first amendment right... need I say more).
