Great broadcast! I 'm from Illinois originally and I lived in both Raleigh and Charlotte, Nc and it's okay in comparison to Chicago. Especially the weather. I'm thinking about moving to Greensboro, Nc in the next year or two. I'm living in Greenville, Sc now. I do like the weather and literally no snow. Keep up the great videos. I would say I liked it Charlotte better than Raleigh. Charlotte was more of a city feel compared to Raleigh was more an Surburban feel.
Thank you for watching!! I have more videos coming and I'm interviewing a friend that lives in Greensboro. She will be giving us the pros and cons of that city so definitely STAY TUNED! 😊
Good info, I'm still looking around but have a few 2b and 1b houses save in Winston. I don't need a huge place just me and my dog. I still have a little time left for everything here in Naples FL to get processed, I can't wait to move. Been in Naples since 83' when I was a kid and I hate it here.
Wow! You are so natural! No scripted hype one way or the other. So nice to listen to someone who is so real! ! I'm from the New York City suburbs and rail and bus lines do criss-cross some areas and get you to down to the City. While there are suburban communities here where you could get what you need totally using public transportation or walking, pretty much only people who can't afford a car or can't drive anymore, live that way. Lots of commuters use Metro North into New York City or take a bus to the subway in the north Bronx to the City. However, the only people from the New York City metropolitan area who would be upset that you needed a car to get around would people who actually live in the City. If they are surprised that you need a car almost anywhere in the USA to get around, including North Carolina, they ether never leave New York City or didn't do research before moving. In fact, there are actually natives who hardly ever leave New York City but I guess they would not be moving to North Carolina! .
"Winston Salem is boring" SO TRUE. We live within a community of old grouches that lean too heavily into the "quiet family community" to the point that it feels like you are judged for wanting to do anything more than sit around, do nothing, and be nosy. So annoying. Ready to move simply because of that factor.
I live in a very quiet community so when I'm planning a party or cookout my neighbors are notified. Either leave the neighborhood that day or come party with us bc we about to get loud 😂😂
I think missing the “grown and sexy” night life is a good thing. I live in a small town now in ct, and everything is closed and shut down in the evening. Gives a sense of security but I could see why some would miss it but I think it’s just a lifestyle thing. I’m glad you mentioned that because that makes Winston-Salem more appealing to me. A little sad there isn’t too much diversity but if the city is growing, maybe it will change. That’s a con. So glad to know there’s a lot of medical care. That’s a big deal. Although I don’t work in it, it means a lot to me. Thanks for this video. Definitely helps me decide where to go.
Thank you so much for watching! If I want that grown and sexy nightlife I just go to Greensboro or Charlotte. Winston-Salem is definitely up and coming as the population is growing every month. It's a lot of diversity overall just not a lot of diversity social or networking events. I personally enjoy living here now and I know that this around is on the rise.
@@SoldByYolanda I will definitely keep you in mind if I plan to purchase there. I’m planning a trip to come visit and see what this little city offers ☺️
First of all, you're stunningly beautiful. We were just over there last weekend to visit Mrs. Hanes' cookie shop. We also went by Hanging Rock State Park. North Carolina is lovely by I prefer my home state of Tennessee. My husband was raised in the Moravian church in Wisconsin so he's very interested in Moravian history which Winston-Salem is rich in
Unfortunately there are not a lot of cities in NC where you don't need a car. The downtown area within the popular cities like Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston-Salem and Raleigh have walkable housing however those areas come with a much higher living price.
Hi thank you for this amazing information. Planning to move from Chicago we have kids and we need space for them to play . We don’t decide yet where Greensboro or Winston-Salem. Can you do video on Entry Level jobs . I have a certificate for home care and my husband works in restaurant and parking garage is there any chance to get this type or related jobs.
This has been my experience overall with Winston-Salem. It has what you need with some extras, but not much beyond the essentials. Overall I like it, but, if you want a city of fireworks, move to the Raleigh-Durham area or Charlotte. Many people from here appear to view this place like people from small towns view their communities, not a city.
Thank you Yolanda for this up front, funny and true comparison of my home town. I agree that Winston is boring lol! We used to be a happy hour town, lots of social events and movement around getting together. We lost that feeling years ago and I believe it relates to losing many of our affluent businesses. We went into a funky slump. City leadership didn't dig in to find out exactly what direction they city would grow and invest funds to make us more attractive. . Charlotte used to be the pits, yep several years back...but now "Charlottes Got a Lot" because they wanted a change, engaged the citizenry and now.....
Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I do feel that Winston-Salem will be growing over the next few years bc the more popular cities are becoming over populated and high cost of living. Are you still living in Winston-Salem?
Hello Yolanda! I'm Yolanda, who also relocted from Ohio. I recently bought a home here after living in Charlotte for 15 years! 😊. Id like to do more socializing here as well.
I'm actually planning to record a video on the topic of the surrounding cities bc I live in Lexington myself. Lexington is right next to Clemmons so it's great bc of the shopping, restaurants and highway access. Clemmons is an "in demand living" city so the home prices are a bit higher than Winston-Salem...it's a highly desired area. Be on the look out for that video! Thanks for watching 🥰
All of the cons on here were pros for me. Except the pollen and the diversity factor. I prefer boring, I don’t like major cities. I have no interest in buying old homes. I prefer new construction. I would love to come visit and few times before I make the move from the Virgin Islands. 🇻🇮 But the weather though 😂 how cold does it get there?
The Virgin Islands?? You want to visit here and I want to visit there LOL!! It gets down to about 20 degrees overnight during the winter months but warms up during the day.
Just wanted to correct you that Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina and Greensboro is the 3rd. Winston Salem is the 5th largest in North Carolina and Raleigh is the second largest. Great video and good to know about the pros and cons.
Hi! I am aware and corrected myself in the description box. Since that was not the focus of the video I was not going to re-record just to correct that but thanks for watching 🥰
Hey Yolanda not sure if see this, My work place in Ireland are opening new factory in Winston Salem in the summer and they have asked me if I would like to move out temporary that may lead to permanently, how would you recommend there for someone with no family, not buying a home etc and I don’t have a license lol
Hi!! Hope that you're well. I would recommend finding an apartment in downtown Winston-Salem that is walking distance to dining, coffee shops, grocery store etc
Great video!! I’m a new follower, do you have any videos for safety/crime rates? I’ll be moving to North Carolina Soon from Louisville, KY. Compared to my city, I’m hoping Winston-Salem/Greensboro will bring a sigh of relief.
I agree with you Winston Salem is boring I was born and raised here but entertainment wise we don't have that anymore cause I think it's because of the crime rate here. A lot of times these young people or teens from neighborhoods there are tearing down to make room for new housing or apartments. Sometimes it makes things bad for others to take Hanes Mall for instance you can't go shopping any more without someone bringing a gun just to fight somebody. And that kind of ruining things for everybody exciting stuff that we use to have like the street scene or alive after five we can't have that anymore without somebody acting stupid. And to me that's my con all these young kids hanging out no programs to help these young people from getting into trouble nothing to keep them level headed.
I need you help to see how i can buy at house when i sell my home in florida i going over there next week on vacation cause my wife and i want to move over there with my kids how i can get on contact with u please help us thank you
hi, i will be relocating with my 2 kids by early next year in Winston-Salem. I will be working in Forsyth Medical Center. I would like to ask if you can possibly send me the best place to live in just closer to my work place and like how much is a 2 bedroom apartment? thank you
Hi!! Congratulations on your new job! The Hanes Mall area or the 27103 & 27127 zip codes are near Forsyth Medical. 2 bedroom apartments for that area would be between $1300-$1400 monthly but you maybe able to find a "move in" special.
I'm moving soon also and will be at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Coming with my 3 kids. Looking for a safe area with a good school district.
Im a black women from Chicago, both my daughters are in college in NC. How is the area for black professionals? What is the best for single black female empty nester
@SoldByYolanda You can't be serious Raleigh and Charlotte are both Country as Fuck all North Carolina cities are boring and slow as hell and absolutely nothing to do.
I have been living in Winston-Salem North Carolina all my life and you did a great job describing it.
Thank you so much for watching 💖 Things will get better here!

Hi!! Which city of NC are you thinking about moving to?
Winston-Salem is a retirement community that’s why I left and move to Raleigh.
Hilarious and very true!! 😂But I don't mind the lower housing prices and cost of living. I drive to Raleigh and Charlotte for a great weekend of fun.
@SoldByYolanda You can't be serious Raleigh and Charlotte are both Country as Fuck all North Carolina cities are boring and slow as hell and absolutely nothing to do.

Really!! I'd love to meet you in person if possible.
Watching this video from SA, why do you say?
I'm wondering the same question...why was it a big mistake??
Charlotte is actually the largest city in north carolina. I have been here most of my life.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment on the video. I actually corrected myself in the description box 4 months ago 🙂.
Winston-Salem is a two class town. The sippers and servers. The town that time forgot.
Ya know...I never thought of it that way but you are correct. I hope that one day this view will change.
Is she realy married meeting new people in salem?
Huh??? What do you mean? Yes I’m married. Met my husband right here in Winston-Salem 😊
