    Great video! I moved to Winston about 2 years ago from Philly and agree with all of your points. It was definitely a major case of culture shock but I’m happy my family and I made the move.

    That’s an honest assessment Jeff. Thanks from a Chicago/suburb resident of 11 years.

    Hey, can’t find the details on the internet but Salem roads were built on a spoke and wheel principle from what I remember. I loved it because it is so easy to take backroads and get across town fast. You have to understand that though. And one of your videos mention Winston is spread out? Try Jacksonville FL. Winston is my town and my family’s hometown. Miss it but can’t complain about FL either. Love it here too.

    Love the shout out! :) Here's another one to go along with the kindness of the people here....Everyone does a Christmas card! I love it, but I am not use to it. I'll have to step up my game next year! :) Merry Christmas, btw!

      Hey another Chicago person! It took some getting used to, but I have really grown to love it here. Thanks for watching!

    The reason for liquor stores closed on Sunday are the “blue laws” same reason you can’t buy beer until after noon. Just a bit of a heads up.

      I had to look up blue laws...I had no idea it referred to the color paper they were written on. Thanks!

    Hmm, car property tax plus carr insurance will surely add up to the cost of living!!!

    • @JeffValentino
      @JeffValentino  ปีที่แล้ว

      It does, but still much lower overall than the US average. Thanks for watching!

    I’m looking to move pretty soon. Do you have recommendations on non-luxury apartments?

    • @JeffValentino
      @JeffValentino  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I don't know much about the apartment market. I suggest calling some of the larger complexes directly to find out about amenities etc.

      Depending on where you live, anywhere that’s nice is costly

    Now I see why North Carolina hasn't grown and still has such good deal available. The vehicle property tax! The average new car today cost $46,000 which means you would have to pay $1380 every year for vehicle tax, and that doesn't include registration, plates and other vehicle taxes, not to mentioned insurance. Holy hidden tax Batman.

    • @JeffValentino
      @JeffValentino  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think you're thinking of sales tax here. You pay vehicle property tax every year...in Wake county a 46k car would be about $470 per year in property tax, and that does include registration and plates. There are no other vehicle taxes. Aaaand, NC is growing quite a bit and has a low overall cost of living...even with these annoyances. Thanks for watching!

      @@JeffValentino so the buyer of a car isn't subject to sales tax? Where I'm from, I have to pay the prevailing sales tax rate 8.875% for a car purchase, but I don't have to pay 'property' tax on it every year.
