  • Unless you lucked out ordering your Outbacks, you're going to have to do the lock exchange yourself. The kit cost about $30 as I remember. I made this video thinking the process would be difficult, but it's really trivial. I just posted it for the record.
There are 3 different kits numbered after the number of included keys with the same teeth.

Title is misleading, re-keying is something different. I am trying to discover how to get an old barrel to accept a new key.

I ordered the kit SL101 to replace the lock on my Trekker Outback 42L but the lock plate (aka rotation claw) doesn't fit. As shown in your video, the lock plate on the lock is a solid circle but the kit comes with two different plates, neither of which fits. I'm I missing something or is there something wrong in the kit? Thanks.

On the trunk when screwing the lock assembly back on a bb/ball bear thing fell out onto the floor? Any idea where the hell it goes??

+JFeezy I can't remember exactly, but I think that ball bearing is balanced precariously on top of the spring. Doesn't even look like it belongs there, but I guess it's to keep pressure on the cover with minimal contact.

***** I took it back apart and found where it goes. On the plastic piece next to the lock cylinder there's a little indent where it sits. The metal piece that rotates and locks rides on it to make it a little tighter. I'll see if I can't find a pic.

Its on the right side of the lock mechanism itself.

great video! i'm gonna get a set like this so this helps me ALOT! Tell me one thing, I'm considering getting 2 37 lts side cases for my bike, the mounts on my bike are simetrical and my fear for getting the larger ones is that it gets a bit to wide... How do you find the 37 lts? too small? Cheers

You'll be fine. I don't camp much but I fit a very inefficient camping setup in in Trekkers. I just went with the 48 because you'll either be 1 1/2 inch short or long on off-muffler side depending on the 37- or 48-liter box respectively
