Helpful. Good. If someone is breathing from the upper lung the best way to get them breathing only from lower lungs is to lean all the way forward (in chair sitting down) and rest elbows on knees. Take a breath. As you can see, it is only possible to draw air from lower lungs in this position. Helps prevent/stop hyperventilating too.

Really good video doc. I've sent it in past to some of my patients. One note that I add with your video. When a patient yawns during the day that is an indication that the patient is storing there CO2. You should only yawn shortly before you go to sleep. Which is a direct result of the healthy patients pre sleep change in breathing pattern. They start to store CO2 so they yawn. I add to your video three sets of full exhalation. The one slight issue is when a pulmonologist does this in office during breathing tests. They usually have two nurses or assistants coaching you to keep exhaling. Hope that makes sense about pushing out more CO2 even when you think there's none left. There's always more to discharge the patient just doesn't have a nurse saying "come on more, more a bit more". I really like the video and as stated above have sent to my patients. Only difference between the video and my added advice is to expel your CO2. 100% of the time if a patient chronically yawns throughout the day this works. Also storing CO2 causes us to yawn because our body knows that it's toxic. Not getting into innate intelligence. I think and hope this message reads well and does not sound smug or disrespectful. Try what I just explained with one or two of your patients that yawn in the day and you will see what I see every time......they always stop yawning.

@@yappydabbad9323 Yes that's why at night we yawn. Our breathing pattern changes ...slows. Causing the body to push out the CO2 that would have normally be pushed out during your non pre sleep hours. One dude wants me banned from youtube and thinks my license should be taken away. All in a days work at TH-cam. So yes...this is why we need experts to tell us to breathe....Thanks for the comment. @@AdamJStoryDC I did almost write in case people forget to breath. It is a good exercise though so don't let me deter you. I guess I get frustrated with my lungs at times. Like your low heart rate. Mine is nearer 100 at rest but maybe just the caffeine and NRT buzz addiction. I learned on YT recently that deep exhaling to a wheeze helps get rid of mucus and I use that technique now for my asthma and that seems to quickly increase my O2 after the resulting induced cough. Keep up the good breathing!
Excellent breathing exercise, my oxygen levels increased from 95 to 98 and started feeling better. My query is how many times this exercise tobe done in a day. Will it cure high blood pressure.
Great work. You did increase your oxygen level but at high cost from your nick muscles. If you try to create the vacuum using your diaphragm muscles not your nick muscles you will get more oxygen at less cost and completely relaxed body muscles. Your belly must get into the egg shape during inhalation due to expanded lungs pushing down abdomen organs massaging them gently. Taking the air at chest area using nick and shoulder muscles have many side effects. Let me know once you try it.
Breathing out slowly through the nose would give the added benefit of stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system - the relaxation response. Give it a try..
Thanks….I have watched a lot of videos over the years but none as specific as yours. I have been stomach breathing but not talking the extra second to really fill and e x p a n d !! My lungs. My oxygen level is now a steady 97-98 instead of the 94 I was used to. There is a whole trick to this breathing thing :) and many of us are shallow breathers and don’t even know it ….seriously- thank you
Very interesting video! One question still: I know that too much oxygen is also bad.Taking too much oxygen is reducing the amount of CO2 and the effect is quite opposite ,causing the blood vesels in your brain to contract and it's causing hypoxia. That's why people can faint while hyperventilate...I will try the experiment of hyperventilation soon with an oxymeter to see if its showing a low value or not because finger oxygen level its not the same with brain oxygen level.
Hyperventilation doesn't lower my saturation ,quite weird ..I think it's affecting the brain saturation thats why people are passing out from hyperventilation..So measuring the blood saturation is not the same as brain saturation..
Very interesting that I ran across this video. I've tried this before and thought something was wrong when my oximeter went higher. Now I know the rest of the story 😉 Thanks for the video❗️
My levels are great during the day. My concerns are at night! Will this helps as well? What can i do to help with night levels?? Please and thank you! I wake up and feel bad.
Thanks! We were able to look at ratings to see what was normal in a situation. I was trying to find out what was good high or low readings after exercise. I appreciate it. 🙏 and ❤
Woe, I feel better after doing this just once, I feel energized.I used to breathe this way when I was younger, because I was into martial arts, and the Chinese use deep breathing for strength, and energy, They say breathe deep, inhale, from your Tantien, one inch below your belly button. It's been 30 years since I did this, thank you for giving me back the energy, and probably strength of my youth. Subscribed.
actually there is a placebo effect taking place here. If it works then great. But he's basically just saturating his blood with more oxygen by pulling more oxygen in. If he did this technique every day for months at a time, then his overall lung capacity would dramatically increase as well due to the internal stretching of his lung tissue. When I was younger I used this same technique to decrease my need to breath while swimming. I could easily hold my breath for 7, 8 and 9 minutes underwater.
Yes ,with hyperventilation You actually decrease the amount of CO2 in your blood and the effect is low brain oxygen level..That's why people are fainting while hyperventilating..But he is not breathing fast and maybe his CO2 is normal ...But like You said ,by streaching the chest over time im sure it's helping long term ...make the lungs "bigger" and more flexibile 😊..By the way 9 minutes holding breath is insane i can do maybe less than one minute now ...😮

Come to think of it: I do a similar Yoga exercise called "Pranayama" whenever my heart starts a-fibbing and/or tachycardia-ing. Sometimes it will stop my heart's craziness in a heartbeat (pun intended, yuk yuk.). Never did bother to check the oxygen level though.
Please take Omega-3 fish oil very good for heart health benefit and against heart disease and against inflammation it’s natural after one month your heart will thank you please I’ll recommend Omega3 fish oil organic lower blood pressure and benefit for others heart problem condition. Stayed Bless

I have COPD. My sats are 88, to 93 which is the best im going to be I am a C20 retainer, i cant have oxygen, which is so bad during an exacerbation. Retraining myself with my chiropractor to breathe from nose down into my core and not shallow mouth breathing has made a world of difference. 😊
is this safe to do with someone with COPD and on 24/7 oxygen set to 3 or 4

Wow it's great my oxygen levels are increasing from 95 to 99..thnq for ur valuable information sir...
It's my pleasure
It remained stable?
@@nishtha7594 exactly my question as well.
Oh wow. Breathing more deeply gets more oxygen into you. Pure genius. This is why we need experts. I've learned so much.
Read some of the comments below and you'll learn why this video is necessary. Many oppose deep breathing. One person commented that it was dangerous to take more than 4 at a time. One dude wants me banned from youtube and thinks my license should be taken away. All in a days work at TH-cam. So yes...this is why we need experts to tell us to breathe....Thanks for the comment. Made me laugh
@@geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz Slower heart rates aren't necessarily better but they are influenced by genetics and endurance training.
Excellent breathing exercise, my oxygen levels increased from 95 to 98 and started feeling better. My query is how many times this exercise tobe done in a day. Will it cure high blood pressure.
WAtch this one: th-cam.com/video/1lwYseaL4m8/w-d-xo.html
Reviewing this info helps to keep me on track.
Thanks for showing us a great way to exercise the lungs!!!
You bet!
Wow.. that worked well..
Mines always been 95-97.
After test is 99..
Thanks Doc..🙂
Great 👍
Thanks….I have watched a lot of videos over the years but none as specific as yours. I have been stomach breathing but not talking the extra second to really fill and e x p a n d !! My lungs. My oxygen level is now a steady 97-98 instead of the 94 I was used to. There is a whole trick to this breathing thing :) and many of us are shallow breathers and don’t even know it ….seriously- thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Very interesting video!
One question still:
I know that too much oxygen is also bad.Taking too much oxygen is reducing the amount of CO2 and the effect is quite opposite ,causing the blood vesels in your brain to contract and it's causing hypoxia.
Sir,It worked for me .Initially my reading was 97.After exercise my reading comes to 98-99.
Thanks
thanks..I FOUND THAT IF BREATH LIKE THIS BEFORE I GO TO BED I SLEEP BETTER
Felt Great! Went from 95 to 97!
Very interesting that I ran across this video. I've tried this before and thought something was wrong when my oximeter went higher. Now I know the rest of the story 😉 Thanks for the video❗️
Interesting!
My levels are great during the day. My concerns are at night! Will this helps as well? What can i do to help with night levels?? Please and thank you! I wake up and feel bad.
Guess I should have said while sleeping
Thanks! We were able to look at ratings to see what was normal in a situation. I was trying to find out what was good high or low readings after exercise. I appreciate it. 🙏 and ❤
Glad it was helpful!
Is it also good to do single nostril breathing..like we do in yoga practices ?
Thank u sir for this technique my oxygen saturation is 100 , i also checked it..
Great 👍
Woe, I feel better after doing this just once, I feel energized.I used to breathe this way when I was younger, because I was into martial arts, and the Chinese use deep breathing for strength, and energy, They say breathe deep, inhale, from your Tantien, one inch below your belly button.
Yes ,with hyperventilation You actually decrease the amount of CO2 in your blood and the effect is low brain oxygen level..That's why people are fainting while hyperventilating..But he is not breathing fast and maybe his CO2 is normal ...But like You said ,by streaching the chest over time im sure it's helping long term ...make the lungs "bigger" and more flexibile 😊..By the way 9 minutes holding breath is insane i can do maybe less than one minute now ...😮
wow, mine was 95, raised to 98 after the breathing exercise. Cool!
Great job!
Hi and thanx for the video. For how long should I do it? Or how many times?
Thoughts on Buteyko breath training?
Wow You have helped me more than you know For 2 days I have been concerned about my oxygen and heart rates using that little instrument like you have I was ready to go to emergency so scared Then you showed me how to breathe It went from below 90 to 100! I am having some Issues with chest pain but this has encouraged me so much I have always felt I didn’t breathe deep enough
THIS video has taught me thank you 😮😢❤ FLO WARRINER in Nebraska

Crazy how I just did this and my blood oxygen went down. It went from 98 down to 93.
thos claiming to hace machines that give you oxegen saturation is possible to go over 100% oxygen, how does the saturation in thee finger compare to the core would they be the same?
How often should we do this...If we have low oxygen in the mornings.
OK which is the numbers for heart and for the oxygen? Bc when I hold my breathe or walk fast while vacuuming for example, the top numbers match my pulse when I take it the old fashion way.
And the bottom number when for example is under 80% I put my oxygen in and the bottom number goes up.
I’m asking this bc nurses or MA’s tell me the top is my oxygen and the bottom number is my pulse
Can you please let me know.
Thank you
