STRONGER & LIGHTER Lower Control Arm Upgrade | Honda Civic Project

  • The budget Honda Civic Build continues with installing NEW Lower Control Arms! These TruHart aluminum LCA's are stronger, lighter, and contain upgraded bushings. This will ultimately result in a better handling Honda Civic!
This Lower Control Arm install was LONG overdue, but we are finally dialing in the suspension setup on the Honda Civic Project. LCA's aren't the most exciting mod, but look a hell of a lot better from the rear! Most people replace lower control arms due to worn bushings or even a cracked or warped arm. In my case, I wanted to benefit from the weight savings, stiffen up the rear, and improve the look. These TruHart LCA's do the job and remain very affordable!
Along with the suspension setup, I recently picked up new Nitto NEO Gen tires for the Civic. These are a summer oriented tire with increased wear resistance on the inside of the tire. They were designed for cars running higher camber to promote less wear. In the short term review, I think they handle much better than my previous 205/50/15 Sentiry tire setup. Once we get the front and rear camber kits installed on the Honda Civic it will be ready for alignment! These suspension mods are SO long overdue but i'm trying to tackle them now that I have the right tools! That Milwaukee Impact Wrench is the best thing I have bought!
Enjoy the video, I'll link the goods below!

Appreciate everyone’s comments! One thing I’ll mention is that the bushings were torqued down with load from jacking up the hub. It was jacked up until the spring compressed to ride height. This mimics the weight that the car would have on the ground and allow me to reach the outer most bolt without the wheel on. Appreciate all the concern!

hey anthony beautiful install but i did this on my civic not to long ago and not sure if you did this but once the bolts are on you keep them kinda loose and then you drop the car down after and tighten the bolts that way you dont get premature wear on the bushings... tho u dont have to do this but it is a good tip to have the bushings last longer ... tho i love your videos keep it up bro 🙏🏼

I have accumulated a master cylinder, brake lines, trailing arms, new LCAs, new bolts, new ebrake cables, new control arm bushings, and also a new proportioning valve. Throw on a rear subframe brace and rear sway bar! It really stiffens up the rear, but it causes the rear end to rotate so much and it neutralizes the natural understeer when driving aggressively and induces oversteers. I thought it made fwd fun!

Good job on the install, Not quiet sure why people have to dislike videos with good info for others that are looking for a good DIY video. The holes on the LCA (Lower Control Arms) are for Sway Bar end link positioning. Get yourself a rear Sub-frame brace (ASR, Hardrace, etc) and a Stabilizer bar either OEM EK9 or a good quality one and it will be a night and day difference on handling.

They make a tire size 205 45 15. A little thinner so maybe you won't rub anymore. Great build!!

I recently had rear struts installed on 2001 civic, and the main ride going fairly fast seems better, but still get loud thunking bang sound when slowly going over curb or bump, and now got hideous squeak going too. I wonder if its these control armsneed replacing now. It sounds like its to do with whatever the new stronger struts are interacting with, and it does sit higher now which it had not been for a long time. I got the struts from autozone (duralast) about 3 weeks ago and I've told mechanic about noises and he just said hmm that's weird. It looks like theres no sense just replacing the bushings? I didn't realize there were 6 there in total. Whenever it gets wet out, plus I sprayed some lubricant, it goes away temporarily, but now left groaning squeak wont go away as I maneuver around in lots, and of course thunk noise still there and in Michigan, with crap roads everywhere. Id appreciate any suggestions, of course no one knows anything about Hondas except dealer ship who wants $100 to inspect it.
