That play in 2:55 is brilliant and demonstrates what a great defender he was, not only because he was physically gifted and 100% commited in playing good defense, but also because he understood the game so well that he could foresee what the opponent would do.
See how Abrines sets a backscreen to block Gist's way and how AMAZINGLY fast Diamantidis understands the play and immediately leaves Abrines and jumps right onto Tomic giving him a block to remember!!
