Thank you so much for this playlist 🥳 my amazing wife bought me one yesterday and no idea how they grow etc. So this will be vèy handy indeed! Thanks again Dave 🙏🏼
i just started the art of bonsai a month ago and its a Fukien Tea tree. really learned a lot through the systemic balance and counterbalance you've expressed. really appreciate that systems thinking vocalization you've provided. thanks, Dave! :)
Dave's Bonsai Same here still a little chilly yet here to put it outside. I was so excited when my Japanese red maple sapling I have been working on made it through the winter and is full of a lot more growth than last year when I purchased it from a discount store to try my hand at the bonsai art. It looked really rough last year. Now it finally looks like it’s more healthy.
Just got a Fukien and it's my first. This video was quite helpful as I'm trying to figure out wtf it is I'm supposed to do next. I want to cut, but as a guy who had a hell of a time growing a beard (and loves his smoker), I know that patience is key. :)
This tree is pretty new to me too. The odd thing is after this trim, the tree has stopped growing. It might stay that way until I get it outside again this spring. I'll keep everyone updated.
Can I get help ..how long in leaves or length cm ect do I let new leaders grow before prunning ....to create a new leader and also busher ficus...atm my ficus has 4 main leaders at the top of classic s-bend bonsai..with 2 leaders comming of one branch...3 leaders comming of another branch...and 2 leaders comming remain 2 branch's. .thanks all
If the tree is healthy, you can cut most of the branches off completely or down to a couple of leaves. Some feel the longer you let it grow, the more girth you get at trunks bottom. Pick a branch you like and let that one with a few leaves on it and cut the others off if it doesn’t make the shape you desire,
Cool. After I cut mine, it's done exactly what it did last year in my plant room. Did not grow an inch. Since this video, not an inch. But I know it will come back to life in the summer outside.
@@DavesBonsai so I should trim it tomorrow/ so that it's ready. lol it;s got a few things I can see to do right away. crotch branches and a large whorle about to happen up by the apex. i send you a video I did an unboxing video. but ill show you the close-up.
' I just got mine. But it froze during shipment. uggg I am hoping it will revive. gave it some warmer water and placed it south window but there has been no sun at all, i might try to put it in front of the UV Machine tonight.
I've used grow lights by FEIT Electric (9w flood lights in reflector cans), also the UNIFUN full specrtrum light with the white/red/blue LEDs. I recently ordered another brand with bigger wattage from Roleadro (75w). I have noticed a difference with that larger watt system. Keep them 6-10 inches above plants

Great video!! Fukien teas are very fun to work on
You should put a tiny swing on your tree.
Wow that tree looks fantastic now!
Mine just bloomed. First spring I’ve had it.
Nice! Mine is slowly starting to grow again after that prune. I can't wait to get it outside for some sun.

@@sabrinabritcher439 Nothing more exciting than the tree that starts to push out. Keep up the good work.
I like telling people what my Bonsai was, they’d look at me thinking I said the F word since I don’t curse lol

Sorry about your camera, glad your using your iPhone!
It was my son's old camera. He took the news well. I still feel bad though.
How’s this thing doing Dave, did it start growing again?
Great news. Yes, it's been growing very well. I'll put in in an update section very soon.
hey did you propagate these cuttings?
No I did not.
@@DavesBonsai ooih too bad
1:44 looks like mine rn lol
Is the Fukien tea tree poisonous to cat?
That I do not know. But my cats would ruin all my trees, so I have an indoor plant room to keep them away from my cats.
Completely pet safe. Well mammal wise. Dont know about reptiles...
It's not that serious bro
