The team peaked last year. Dak is likely declining and on top of that extremely expensive. Talent on the team is too top heavy and also expensive. They are not going to trade A+ players for multiple B- ones which is what is needed most, depth. I will also add McCarthy probably walked more than Jerry fired him. John Fassel walking is illustrative of this trend. Everyone knows Dallas would have liked to keep him and there is no indication Fassel wanted to stay. He left for the Titans of all places. If Dallas was close to the big one do you think he would leave. We also know the big money players wanted McCarthy to stay. I am sure this fester for a long while especially if this dysfunction continues. Nothing about any of this is inspiring and Jerry's unique handling of his coaches is not the type of behavior that attracts greatness. Jerry relies too much on brand to attract talent. Money aside, culture and success attract more talent in the NFL than brand. Dallas has a broken culture and it will remain so until senior leadership removes their heads from their rears. Be prepared for a disastrous and embarrassing next season. Teams with few roster changes and a complete coaching shakeup rarely do well and if Zimmer walks this will only get worse.
