- At Rock Am Ring I chatted with Matt for arteconcert about how he revisited his past to get into the right state of mind to write the last album, how he lost his voice and never gave up, luckily :)

The funny thing with Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, and Bullet For My Valentine is that all three bands have started in the late 90's and early 2000's, have a lead singer named Matt, big time guitar bands, have more then one singer, have big time success, and have military background
bullet and trivium are coming back with the amazing vocals

Love when guys of this caliber are just flat out down to earth and authentic. To me, that is what metal represents - acknowledging your inner experiences, maintaining through pain, and coming out better every time with healthy external expression. That’s metal as fuck.

I knew I wasn't crazy. His vocals in The Poison were WAY different than any other record they put out. Now I know why.
Apart from surgery and that, he also had to learn some technique. That's why he sounds different. It did the trick, huh?? 😏😏
@@BlanchestarlightUwU Yeah, his new voice is great but I think his old voice worked with Hand of Blood and The Poison too well. Every time they play those songs live, it feels a bit off because he doesn't sing like that anymore. Everything else afterwards is still great (for the most part, I personally wasn't a fan of Temper Temper and most of Gravity if I am being honest, but it had nothing to do with the voice).
It seems impossible to me that someone would think of bullying matt but then i saw one of their jeff killed john shows and well.... it explains a lot

Scream Aim Fire era, the song Deliver Us From Evil is about it. When I saw them in Birmingham in 2009 Jay was doing all the screams, it'd happened around the very tail end of The Poison, glad he can actually scream again now as I preferred Matt's screams.
