I lost my first boxing match yesterday at a charity event. It was amazing experience and im proud that I managed to overcome the fear and the anxiety to actually step put there. But I'm also devastated, I got in the best shape of my life and gave everything I could, watching virtually all of Tony's videos to help learn and get better at boxing. All of your videos helped me so much and this one especially today. Thank you so much 👊🏾
Man You are such a Great Mentor...I have seen coaches just talking about the Footwork,Combos and all physical aspects of boxing...But I have barely seen anyone talking about the mental aspect of this Sport. Honestly, Any person Sitting in any part of The World can Learn a lot about boxing just by watching your videos...Keep up the great content man 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🎉🎉
Im just starting my journey on learning to box. I know that losing a fight is one of the worst things that can happen to a man. It shatters your ego. I'm 19 now and I always wanted to learn how to fight but I never did it because I was very weak and scared of what people would think of me when I keep losing at the start. But I've grown lots this past year and at this point, I don't care anymore. I realized that it doesn't make any sense to not train because you can't box. Thats the point of training. And I'm a very fast learner. I don't have motivation for many things but boxing is something that is on my mind 24/7. I want to train every waking second and I want to become the best boxer of all my friends. I want to have that feeling for the first time. The feeling of being the best. The respect you get from the people around you. And besides the pride, I will learn a lot on the way. Bad habits Level of patience Physical and mental weaknesses Fear Persistence Endurance Willpower Confidence And my attitude towards success, hardship and failure
Thanks for all your efforts coach, I've been implementing the content of your videos into my training for months and I finally joined a boxing gym last week🥊 had my first sparring session on my 3rd day in the gym... I didnt do as well as I had imagined but I'm even hungrier than before to get better
Wish I had this fourty years ago. I only won 6 out of 16 amateur bouts but I was so in love with the sport, each loss was devastating. What did I take from this, however? It increased my confidence (really!), I know I can look after myself to an extent and I still have a life-long passion for boxing! Thanks Tony.
Thank you my fellow boxer and champion Tony Jeffries for this sincere and realistic video upload. I'm a competitive boxer. I have 14 wins and 4 losses, and I hated the feeling of a loss because even winning fights, I trained my behind off. On a good note personally, after my last loss, I won 4 boxing championship belt titles as a Masters Division Boxer. I always thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ first and foremost. You are so right in that we learn the most as boxers and in life when we lose a bout. Thanks for the big tip that you gave at the end of the video with the visualization aspect. That's very helpful and so important. Also, you and Floyd Mayweather are undefeated professional boxers, but Floyd lost bouts as an amateur boxer, and I believe that he won a silver medal as an Olympian. God bless you and thank you, champ.
Absolute legend Tony thank you for making these videos, I've lost both charity fights and I feel absolutely brilliant after watching videos that you make! This really helped a lot I needed this today, the fight I lost was last night
Tony, been watching literally since your first video. Your video quality continues to improve especially in content. You'll be at 1M subscribers in no time :) Love from Sydney, Australia.
You are so inspirational to watch, I used to be a boxer 13 years ago and I really wanna box again but all the gyms are closed in my country due to COVID
Thanks Tony, I picked up amateur boxing later in life (40) and just lost my first fight a few hours ago. Feel devastated, disappointed in my self, ashamed and ready to quit. Just very low. But I remembered you posted this video a while back so I just watched and it’s really helped me.
Thank you for this tony woke up to a notification of this video I lost my first boxing fight last weekend it’s been tuff since then but this video has helped more then you could imagine glad I subbed to this channel keep making the great content!!
You win some and you LEARN some. That's what I was always told growing up and learning to box. I remember a time I was getting tipped up , obviously I was outclassed so I heard my pops yell make the fight ugly! I Knew exactly what he meant throw punches in bunches and. Turn it into a brawl. I still lost but I felt I was bringing the fight and I didn't lose badly and it showed heart. The most important part was afterwards I thought about the fight we went over mistakes and habits and made adjustments and learned from it
This is fantastic. Not just for boxing but for every encounter, issue, problem or complication you face in life. Amazing life lessons right here. Thank you mate (I'm not a boxer but love your ethos because it can be used in work life as well).
I lost my first bout yesterday and I was stopped in the 1st round there's genuinely no other feeling like it but i'm glad it happened because I learned three things out of it 1. How it feels to lose 2. How it feels to get stopped and deal with that self hate 3. not to box at my weight class again as i'm too small for it (I box at 70 kilos and i'm 5'5 and the kids I boxed are around 6'2) Thanks Tony for the tips and i'll just go again next time and work harder
Lost my first but it was a great experience. Winning would have been good of course but it made me want to train harder as i now knew what it felt like in there and could plan better for next time
Hey Tony could you release that sparring footage you included in the video? With commentary or without. Seems interesting especially coming from an accomplished boxer like yourself.
i have just lost my first two amateur fights, every day after has been a test of my mental strength. It all just leads to a simple answer, train harder.
Helped alot, lost alot of confidence with losing my fight. I trained my butt off but it wasnt my night My footwork is usually in and out then when i was fighting i was so stiff. I havent competed for 5 years and i was so excited to go for a knockout this video helped thanks!
One thing i learned in a gym is what happens inside the gym stays inside the gym, sometimes some people will get unlucky and have to deal with legal issues, mental health, accidents and family or drug problems, etc almost like vinny paz after his car accident, it sux for those that go threw stuff like that. i went deep into some of these probles in my life and it stopped me from doing amatuers and trying to go pro. sometimes things happen for a reason and problems gets in the way of your fight life, but deep down my teammates who i really was and they know my true potential and they knew i had issues in my life that i had to take time to make my come back. i went 3-4 years with only light training and just going to a weight lifting gym and one day i wanted to spar so i sparred after a few years of no sparring except with a couple guys and one was elite and i hadnt sparred with any elites in years, i lost that sparring match it was disappointing but i thought about it and told myself i wasnt at my full potential i want dissapointed cause i had been in a long lay off for a few years and second it just motivated me to get back into training, its like you said things happen for a reason and life sometimes sucks and for some it doesnt cause they get lucky to not run into problems and have people take care of them and some people dont have much people in life to help em in certain situations i know when i get in to problems and i end up having to stop training i know that my team will always know my true potential in boxing and they know when im facing problems in my life and thats what keeps me still fighting is the true spirit of trying to fight threw the problems that get in my way and i never let it put me down.
I lost my first fight at 15 years old and remember speaking to an ex paratrooper after who told me to use my fear of losing again to train harder and diet better
I often tell law students and young lawyers that boxing prepared me for being an attorney better than law school did. And it's because of things like this. Everyone gets sat down in boxing, especially when you first start out. It's how you deal with that that is going to separate you from everyone else. Do you beat yourself up and decide you're no good? Or do you dust yourself off, take an honest assessment of what you did well and what you did poorly, and build from that? The folks who do the second tend to find success in just about whatever they decide to do.
@@Tony_Jeffries No problem! If I'm ever out in LA I'll have to swing by and check out your gyms, been a big fan of the videos for a long time. Keep up the great content.
Tony your a great inspiration to me I just had a sparing match on the street I know your against street fights but he refused to fight inside he is a amature fighter with a belt I haven't even competed but he wanted to fight me I horribly lost in under a minute I called off the fight because I was already getting blooded up and I didn't want my mother to see me in a even worse state so I called it off with my lip cut and my nose bleeding I want to be a coach not a fighter but I couldn't say no I was destroyed I don't know how to feel I looked like a fool if I saw someone do what I did id think there horrible after 5 years of training I was humiliated

Yesterday I lost my first kickboxing match and I feel like I dissapointed my coaches, all the ppl that supported me and myself, but I Will accept it and move on
I lost my second mma fight and it was playing with my brain and i didnt know what to do with it my opponent is in my brain and my anger and heat of revenge isnt ending so it aches my heart and idk what to do
I lost my first kickboxing fight a month ago on a splut, the guy was a very high level. Ive been at it 7 months, the broken rib isnt what hurt.. its my pride taking a dunt. I wasnt going back but if i dont ill hate myself for it. I need to experience that winning feeling.
Marvelous marvin hagler got into boxing because he lost a fight at a party to a boxer. He joined a gym the next day, ended up meeting and beating that boxer from the party, and eventually became world champion. Everyone loses at some point.
I lost one last night bro to someone who is more unfit than me and I felt that I hurt him more as I felt fine after the fight and he didn't but he was still awarded the win by most my mates. I'm rlly struggling to get past it and am not looking forward to school tomorrow

I lost a boxing match in an event that i don’t mind. But he posted a viral tiktok video and everyone is saying i suck at fighting. I deleted media and im gonna do better next time
Having my first fight in 6 weeks, 5-6 months training, I feel like I'm shit compared to everyone in the gym but it's not about winning for me, it's about having the courage and bottle to go and do it after 10 years of being down on myself. Fittest I've ever been in my life and still not fit enough. Win lose or draw boxing has brought me out of low self esteem and anxiety, can't wait to get in there and give it my best.
@Big Rich Productions nice one my mate was a great experience but I'm in no rush to get back in there. Working on my physique before I consider it again 👏
The hardest part of boxing is losing. That is when a fighter truly finds out how great their desire is to box. I never competed but the last time I sparred I was humbled and never sparred since because I was too hard on myself regarding whether I was good enough. I regret that to this day.
I just lost my 1st ever amateur boxing fight yesterday as of 2nd June 2023,it was a huge disappointment of having to deal with that n starting my boxing journey at 29
Just 2 days ago I had my first 2 fights, the snd one Ive lost... these weren't official fights but still... Once I got into the ring I just couldn't box, my punches felt weird, I did everything wrong. One round I've won and in the third I got knocked down and my corner stopped the fight, I wasn't wobbled but they thought there's no sence in continuing... I still feel horrible, I've watched the video a couple of times and know what my mistakes are...

@@Tony_Jeffries Oh dude thanks for replying. Ive grown up in California, Trained in the Bay Area, Multiple gyms, Decent boxer, worked my way up to Oregon boxed in Portland, then Washington. Now Im in Scotland, about to join a gym here. I was wondering if you could do a gym on boxing etiquette when going to a new gym, esp in the UK, but at a high level. The question I hate the most.
Honestly, Any person Sitting in any part of The World can Learn a lot about boxing just by watching your videos...Keep up the great content man 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🎉🎉
Losing can be learning, you just need to never give up
Back in the day fans didn’t make such a big deal about loses, but nowadays there’s this crazy obsession with being undefeated.
Good stuff. You seem like a genuine sort of bloke, passing on his knowledge to aspiring boxers. Thumbs up from me.
Thanks mate! - You can check all my videos here: th-cam.com/users/TonyJeffries1videos
I lost my second Boxing fight yesterday, this video really helped
Bad habits
Level of patience
Physical and mental weaknesses
Fear
Persistence
Endurance
Willpower
Confidence
And my attitude towards success, hardship and failure
I lost my fight last night and I’m shattered watching this video made it easy for me to cope with it
Thanks for all your efforts coach, I've been implementing the content of your videos into my training for months and I finally joined a boxing gym last week🥊 had my first sparring session on my 3rd day in the gym...
Thanks for the great advice. I lost in my fight for the first time and I can't move on, even after two years. I feel pain 😔 when I think about it.
Glad Tony that you never gave up, otherwise we would never had such a teacher like you.
Hey Dave, Thanks!! This means a lot and yeah 1m 👊
Again..ur family must be proud of u..u r just giving people courage to deal wth problems..thnks big hearted man..keep going on💪💪💪
I appreciate this Eren ma man 👊
You are so inspirational to watch, I used to be a boxer 13 years ago and I really wanna box again but all the gyms are closed in my country due to COVID
@@boxfuto915 thanks for the tips, I really miss the heavy bag but sadly, can’t have one in my apartment.
Thanks Tony, I picked up amateur boxing later in life (40) and just lost my first fight a few hours ago. Feel devastated, disappointed in my self, ashamed and ready to quit. Just very low.
But I remembered you posted this video a while back so I just watched and it’s really helped me.
"you learn more from your mistakes" applies to every situation life....
Thank you for this tony woke up to a notification of this video I lost my first boxing fight last weekend it’s been tuff since then but this video has helped more then you could imagine glad I subbed to this channel keep making the great content!!
Great advice from a true professional 🥊
Thanks ma man, means a lot
Thank you so much I’m 11 and I also lost my first boxing match but I didn’t give up and I improved
Thanks for this , my boy (13) lost a regional final today and i was glad that youve covered this in a video. He says it helped to hear from you!
The one iv been waiting for i stopped training when i lost but taking my son down the gym is making me want to go back 👍👍
I lost my first bout yesterday and I was stopped in the 1st round there's genuinely no other feeling like it but i'm glad it happened because I learned three things out of it 1. How it feels to lose 2. How it feels to get stopped and deal with that self hate 3. not to box at my weight class again as i'm too small for it (I box at 70 kilos and i'm 5'5 and the kids I boxed are around 6'2)
Thanks Tony for the tips and i'll just go again next time and work harder
Lost my first but it was a great experience. Winning would have been good of course but it made me want to train harder as i now knew what it felt like in there and could plan better for next time
Nice! That's the spirit mate 👊👊
Love the advice!
Glad you like it ma man 👊
Hey Tony could you release that sparring footage you included in the video? With commentary or without. Seems interesting especially coming from an accomplished boxer like yourself.
Great recommendation mate, thanks!
i have just lost my first two amateur fights, every day after has been a test of my mental strength.
I wish I watched this when I needed it most
I'm just lost my first fight by decision. I'm so so sad. Thanks for the video.
100 bouts, 14 losses. Sounds fucking great to me.
Thanks ma man 👊
I lost my first fight at 15 years old and remember speaking to an ex paratrooper after who told me to use my fear of losing again to train harder and diet better
Great video ...its always good to understand the mindset and to realise its not just you. Always educational. Cheers Tony.
I appreciate it ma man
I often tell law students and young lawyers that boxing prepared me for being an attorney better than law school did.
Nice! Thanks for sharing that mate
@@Tony_Jeffries No problem! If I'm ever out in LA I'll have to swing by and check out your gyms, been a big fan of the videos for a long time. Keep up the great content.
Some real solid advice, thanks man!
Happy to help mate
Thank you for sharing your mind. 9 minutes not wasted.
Glad you like it ma man
Loose a fight don’t matter you was still good to be able to fight some people will never get to a level
how about you mate? did you ever lost to a fight?
@@Tony_Jeffries I’m not at that level yet I’ve only been doing it 3 months but they said I’m good and they want to get me ready for the fights I’m 28 just started lol
That's a really good record. I've seen boxers with lots of losses beat guys who have won national titles. Sometimes it's just about the night.
Always good content. 👍🙏
I appreciate it Theone ma man
Well done. Thanks for posting
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for making this. I’ve won fights and lost fights but I just can’t get the losses out of my head.
as long as you learn something from it mate - professional fights?
@@Tony_Jeffries All amateur MMA. I didn’t have much of a support system at the time, so it took me a while to come to terms with my last loss. I’m in a much better place now so I’m trying to get back in the game. Your videos have been insanely helpful. Especially this one.
Yesterday I lost my first kickboxing match and I feel like I dissapointed my coaches, all the ppl that supported me and myself, but I Will accept it and move on
That’s what u have to do ma man - good luck in the future
I lost my second mma fight and it was playing with my brain and i didnt know what to do with it my opponent is in my brain and my anger and heat of revenge isnt ending so it aches my heart and idk what to do
This helped me a lot, great advice mate👊🏼
Thank you coach i needed this 🙏🏽
Any time mate
Thanks man keep up the great videos
I lost my first kickboxing fight a month ago on a splut, the guy was a very high level. Ive been at it 7 months, the broken rib isnt what hurt.. its my pride taking a dunt. I wasnt going back but if i dont ill hate myself for it. I need to experience that winning feeling.
I lost one fight in the streets and it effected me alot, I try to get over it but it's too damn hard
Marvelous marvin hagler got into boxing because he lost a fight at a party to a boxer. He joined a gym the next day, ended up meeting and beating that boxer from the party, and eventually became world champion.
Everyone loses at some point.
Must’ve been hard bro hope you overcome it
I lost one last night bro to someone who is more unfit than me and I felt that I hurt him more as I felt fine after the fight and he didn't but he was still awarded the win by most my mates. I'm rlly struggling to get past it and am not looking forward to school tomorrow
@@benfallon3295 don't just fight for approval from your mates... Or others in general. Those that say anything wouldn't fight in front of people anyway
@@benfallon3295 unless you're getting paid lol
You the man tony
I appreciate it ma man
I lost a boxing match in an event that i don’t mind.
How was it
@Big Rich Productions I won mate!!
@@josht2454 Good work bro💪💪
@Big Rich Productions nice one my mate was a great experience but I'm in no rush to get back in there. Working on my physique before I consider it again 👏

The hardest part of boxing is losing. That is when a fighter truly finds out how great their desire is to box. I never competed but the last time I sparred I was humbled and never sparred since because I was too hard on myself regarding whether I was good enough. I regret that to this day.
When was your last sparring mate?
@@Tony_Jeffries many years ago when I was in my 20s. I'm in my early 40s now lol
Great video and Great motivation
I just lost my first fight but this Video helps a lot
I just lost my 1st ever amateur boxing fight yesterday as of 2nd June 2023,it was a huge disappointment of having to deal with that n starting my boxing journey at 29

Thank you for this video bro💯
Just 2 days ago I had my first 2 fights, the snd one Ive lost... these weren't official fights but still...
Once I got into the ring I just couldn't box, my punches felt weird, I did everything wrong. One round I've won and in the third I got knocked down and my corner stopped the fight, I wasn't wobbled but they thought there's no sence in continuing...
I still feel horrible, I've watched the video a couple of times and know what my mistakes are...
thank you teacher
Any time mate 👊👊
I just lost my boxing fight todayI feel ashame I feel like I let my family down I don’t know if I should quit boxing I’ve trained whole 1y for my fights and when coach finally gave me the opportunity I let them down 😞
It’s good to watch the losses. But not excessively. Once or twice is enough.
We cannot avoid that mate
@@Tony_Jeffries yeah, pros can’t or top amateurs. Not with the internet and all. I don’t think it’s healthy to dwell on past short comings. Stops you moving forward. Learn from it but don’t dwell. Another great video Tony!
Hey Tony!!
Big fan of your channel and your education and to be honest i learned more from you than my coaches.
I'd be really grateful if you could do a video on how to roll? 😅
Also just a random question, if you and Canelo were to fight both in prime who would win? 🤔
Those that lost had the courage to try in the first place
Awesome video tony 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 boxing 🥊 as well as all martial arts is about becoming a better and stronger person and learning humility at times. Good job coach.
Thanks ma man, means a lot
What a topic to talk about. You cover every aspect of boxing. I actually have a different topic I'd like you to cover if you could.
What topic ma man?
@@Tony_Jeffries Oh dude thanks for replying. Ive grown up in California, Trained in the Bay Area, Multiple gyms, Decent boxer, worked my way up to Oregon boxed in Portland, then Washington. Now Im in Scotland, about to join a gym here. I was wondering if you could do a gym on boxing etiquette when going to a new gym, esp in the UK, but at a high level. The question I hate the most. "have you boxed before?" I can't come out and say, "oh yea, put me up against your meanest boxer". Ive done that before, and I went home with a headache and blood boogers. This time I was to ease into it. Can you make a vid about that?
Hi Tony..I am a huge fan of your TH-cam work..
I am a complete beginner and mainly trying to use boxing as a form of workout and your videos are helping a lot..
Recently, I have also got into VR (virtual reality)..playing some boxing games..I (also many like me who are into VR) would really love to see your reviews/ opinion on VR games as a form of work out or practice for boxing..
(Some games for your reference: thrill of fight, creed, Box VR, FitXR)
15 years old, I lost my first competitive fight after a skills bout and got my nose bust and was stopped after the first round
i always tear up after i get whooped in sparring. makes me so angry devoting so much time to this sport just to get outclassed. Always makes me work harder though
Thanks for the advice❤
We don’t start from zero, we start from experience.

I think a prime example of "a loss is not a loss if you learn from it" is Canleo since mayweather yes he may draw but even if he loses again he will learn adapt and win and hopefully so will you
