Whenever you feel envious of someone who else who is far more wealthy than you are, just remember that they too only have it for a short period of time. The greatest wealth of all, is the love of Christ, and that is something we all have whether you're rich or poor. All it takes is one small step and you will see.
As a retired / disabled priest, I just celebrated Sunday Mass in the chapel in my apartment. I call it the Oratory of St. Teresa of Calcutta. Now I get to hear a great homily by Bishop Barron. God is so very good … ALWAYS!! 💙💙💙
The great Armenian poet Vahan Tekeyan wrote this line in one of his poems titled “Reckoning”, “What’s left for me from this life? Strangely, whatever I gave to others, that alone.”
Thank you God Jesus Christ Pastor Hon'ble Dr Bishop Robert Barron Ministries World for your Blessings in Jesus Mighty Name I pray. Amen Hallelujah praise the Lord. 🎉
Wear the world lightly - that sums up our entire existence and our relationship with GOD. The big barns and storehouses are not important, because Our Lord provides always. I needed to hear this message as recently I have been struggling with filling my barns with material things, rather than focusing on GOD.
This sermon came at just the right time in my life!!!! You have no idea how touched I am!!!! This sermon has probably changed the course of my future!!! Please know that you have made a difference in my life!!!
I so needed this! Ive been fretting over money and savings and inflation (things of the world) til Ive been ill. Where your treasure lies there is your heart. I pray my heart lies with Jesus my lord and savior.
The most freeing thing I have done in the last six months is consecrating all my exterior goods to the blessed virgin Mary I felt such a weight lifted off of me I am her slave and I will dispose of everything as she directs me
As my wife and I moved from a very large and full house to a substantially smaller dwelling, we were impressed with the quantity of « stuff » we were carrying. We are both discovering how the soul is just not interested in « stuff ». It prefers a manger, in a very subdued barn, in a little town called Bethlehem. Glory to our God whose greatness of being was revealed by the scarcity of having. Levis Shalom

It is not just material things we must learn to enjoy in the moment, and then let go. Sadly, it is also true of the relationships, and the love we have for others. That one is most difficult for me. Whether it was my last day of college nearly 2 decades ago, knowing full well I will most likely never see most of my friends again, to that pet you one day had to say goodbye to. The same as well with my spouse. Knowing one day, there will be a last hugging embrace, and dread the day for either of us.
As a churchwarden in a UK Anglican Church, I derive most of my spiritual food from your talks. Homilies. Lectures. Your Lectionary ties in with mine so I love to listen to your Sunday sermon on Saturday night! God bless you in your new post as Diocesan Bishop. As someone else said.thankyou for feeding your on-line flock.

I come from a Catholic home. My Father appointed me Executrix of my Parents Estate (Mama passed away a year before him). I thought siblings and son would work with me for the "good of all of us" but lo & behold....hasn't happened. But my anger has since dispersed because I've been praying about it. Thank you Bishop, your Homily is helping as always....may God Almighty bless you always 🙏🏾🕊. Congratulations on your new assignment. Greetings from Botswana 🇧🇼 😊.
From the first few words you spoke, I could say I appreciate. I live in a tent. And take all my stuff with me in a wagon. Kind of like St. Francis. Or St. Claire.
The more you cling to the goods of this world, the more you are imprisoned by them! Wear the world lightly! The only thing you take away into the life to come is what you've given away on earth! Thank you Bishop for these really inspiring words!
Listening to Bishop, I can’t help smiling, why? because, we have also an “Uncle Tommy” in our family, an unmarried younger brother of my father, who simply enjoyed his single blessedness until the end of his quiet life, God bless him🙏
The words of Cardinal George are powerful. Even if it seems at first paradoxical, in pondering them, we realize that what we've given away speaks to the Heavenly treasure we build in this life. I think there was a saint, or maybe multiple saints, who spoke about giving away oneself as a way to discover oneself. I realize this reality when it comes to the relationship I have with my students. I have given so much of myself to guide them in faith, and it is a great treasure to have this experience with them, and discover who I am truly called to be.
One of the greatest joys of life is sharing the gifts you have. Otherwise, they are just "things". I really appreciate you sharing Bishop Barron's message.
I love the reminder to “wear the goods of this world lightly”. It’s going onto my list of great quotes. It is so easy to get caught up in the pursuit of the material, and when we achieve the material goals it never seems enough. I know several people with severe depression, and a common theme is the lack of any connection to a spiritual life. The existential crisis that so many people experience today is rooted in the belief that the material world is all that there is and ever will be. What a depressing outlook. Bishop Barron speaks truth so eloquently and in such a comprehensible style. I’m glad that his promotion has not left him too busy to tend to his on-line flock.

I like to ear what you have just said Bishop Barron... "the true good, the truly beautiful... belongs to a hjgher world... and disappeared l Give it away, build it up in heaven and be happy!"
This SINGLY ALL-IMPORTANT Message(2myMind)Couldn't've been planted within hearts and minds, in any better way than how His Excellency, The Learned Rev.Dr. Bishop Barron set about doing it, pouring the 1st cup of Water to help sustain the transplant...💥wow❣
I love that quote..."All that you can take with you is that which you have given away". That quote is on the wall of the Buildings and Loan bank in Its a Wonderful Life
A wonderful message, that Jesus spoke of. We live this and walk in humility. What is your value, how do you live? Life through the window is easy, telling all how to walk. Next week's sermon begins with the greatest example of a con - begin with the known challenges and belittle them. Create the wall. Sad, didn't bite. But true good and higher world are those experienced - lived, not a comfortable analogy with a profit motive - not sharing. Wish you and all well, and Jesus is my savior(catholic). Don't quote empowering messages/tools, share your life and its true hardships as Mother Theresa and more. God bless
I live in Ireland and one of my favourite sayings that I used to hear as a child was " You can't take it with you, there's no pockets in a shroud". Colleagues laugh at me at work when I say this 😂😂
This has hit me hard recently. All our attachments of this world distract us from hearing the voice inside telling us that we are infinitely loved unconditionally. You don't need to earn it. Not only loved, but known intimately and created with purpose, and wants to spend eternity with us. A free gift. You can't find this in the things of the world. Let go, trust in God's infinite love and mercy. Jesus, I trust in you!
Thank you Bishop for another wonderful homily. This is the fourth Sunday in a row that I feel like I have been hit by a spiritual 2x4. The wisdom of God and our faith is a real blessing. It has brought me back to when I was a kid and watched Bishop Sheen with my dad .Thanks again.
Perfect sermon to listen to every few months! I’m packing up a room filled with Christmas ornaments that I was saving for my ungrateful children (that they DON’T want, but I’m attached to)…they are going out today! And next week… Thank you.. this was unbelievably..timely. And thank you for saying‘ungrateful children’ 😂😂😂😂😂 sooo funny…. But TRUE!😂😂😂♥️✝️.
That’s because many of the younger people of today only care for NEW items, and do not appreciate legacy items, from the past, which is where the true-life memories come from. This world will fizzle out, but the heart remains. 💖 So sorry for that hurt you feel. I can relate to it.
So true. Instead of donating items that can be repurposed by a new person, if the children don’t want them, people often throw away their parents’ things in the actual trash.
Dearest Bishop Robert Barron, Good noon! Thank you for the Sunday sermon today. I live in a time bubble that can pop at any moment. I learned in the Holy gospel that being a Christian has dual citizens, one here on earth and one in heaven. My resources time, talent, and treasure are all perishables in the earthly realm, they will become imperishable when I invest them in the heavenly kind of God, and it will last forever with everlasting rewards. Jesus Christ came into this world to reunite me with God, to use all the capital that God has blessed me with to further his kingdom. I incorporate myself as God's steward of what he has entrusted to me, and I strategically use my time, talent, and treasure to bring about my heavenly rewards. The Prince of Peace appointed opportunities to use my little to do great things with each new day. It's guaranteed, and the returns are fantastic. Bishop, I felt joy after your installation mass last Friday. I pray that you anoint my head with blessing. Please, pray for the Dregers family and safely harvest. God bless you all. St. Ignatius of Loyola, pray for us. St. Veronica, pray for us. Sts. Martha, Mary, and Lazaro pray for us. Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us. Sincerely yours, Cecilia Dreger and family ( 👵📃 none fiction 🐑). Wilbur Sacred Heart Parishioners ( 👵 Bishop Thomas Daly and Visitors Priest).
Don’t forget the young Prince; who said I have done all these things, honored my mother and father….. and kept all the Commandments, what must I do to enter Heaven? Jesus replied, “sell all that you have and give it to the poor, and follow Me”.
Great sermon! One that should be repeated often in order to cause us to stop & reflect, as we continue to obtain "stuff." I will focus on asking myself, "What have I given away?" I love that!
What a joy to listen to you... dear Bishop. Love, love, love hearing your sermons and messages. You're truly a gift to us, to our generation and the world. What a great quote to close with. Stay blessed always and thank you.
This is one of my favorites because it so resonates with my lifelong minimalist perspective on worldly possessions and overindulgence of prideful attention. You can’t take it with you so do the most good with the gifts you’ve been given today ❤️
I wish to live like a minimalist!!! I was homeless as a child so I just keeeeepppp buying my daughter toys. I've slowed down but our house is full of toys! Im gonna try to minimize my lifestyle

Thank you Bishop Barron. This sermon was so timely in my life and helps me immensely. Just this week I had a big to-do with my sister regarding inheritance! God is speaking to me through you. Praise God.
The key to this gospel is the rich man asked himself what he should do with his wealth his mistake was not asking the Lord what he should do with his wealth
“wear the goods of this world lightly”. Incredible wisdom in that thought. The only thing we take from this world is the quality of our love. Wow, how that could change our lives, our society, our world. Bring true happiness and peace as we live in right relationship with our creator, ourselves and each other.
He is guided by the Holy Spirit that is the difference. When the Holy spirit is guiding someone, they are speaking the truth and no man can refute them
Thank you father, my master of meditation in India, Osho would say on many 'darshans' before he died "let go, let go' After dancing with the musicians, there were no more discourses, he would ask us to be in silence, then we would let go in the floor as he would say in many ways "let it go, deeper and deeper". I'm catholic before any religion and would die in this way, because of taking the humble responsibility and burden no other religion does. The true transformation and transmutation in the understanding of Jesus resurrection. Yet, it reminds me of this wonderful moments in India as you speak, "𝖑𝖊𝖙 𝖌𝖔 𝖑𝖊𝖙 𝖑𝖊𝖙 𝖑𝖊𝖙 𝖌𝖔 𝖑𝖊𝖙 𝖎𝖙 𝖌𝖔". Thank you father, I needed to listen to this.
A rich man dies and goes to heaven and tried to smuggle in all the gold that he had. The gate keeper, who we usually refer to as St. Peter, detected it and said to the rich man; " you're trying to smuggle in pavement?"

God is phenomenal. Every morning a poignant video of his shows up first in the algo on the home page. I find myself taking notes every morning.
You can own things. Just don't them let them own you. Attachment is a sign you lack internal abundance. True prosperity and gain is internal.

Dearest Bishop Robert Barron,
Good noon!
