As an atheist I find your unfounded accusation that I am "nothing" to be deeply offensive. As the saying goes "there is no greater hate than Christian love".
@@downenout8705 Hi! it is meant as a figure of speech in the Catholic tradition... BB is not accusing you of being "nothing", but that Catholics feel as nothing without the love of God. "We are nothing" without God, is how a christian expresses their deep love of God and all that He brings into their life. I have experienced that personally myself, during my stint as an atheist. I finally gave up being an atheist because if it meant I could not commune with God, as I had since I was a child, then the world just did not seem like much to me. You may differ, and I respect your right to do so, but please realize that this is not a personal attack on you.
@@mariefrench44 Well I consider it to be a deeply offensive figure of speech and as I am well aware of Psalm fourteen I also find it to be very much a personal attack. As to your stint as an atheist, it's possible to be an atheist for bad reasons and your reasons are laughably the worst I have ever heard. I therefore find it unsurprising that you returned to the religion that you were indoctrinated into. Guess that's the difference between us, I would never promote such things about you as being good and true just because you don't share my lack of belief in your god.
@@mariefrench44 I guess that I have found another difference between us. If by words I discovered that I had offended someone without good reason, I would apologise and stop. You however remain silent and will presumably continue to promote Psalm fourteen as good and true.
The Catholic church, unfortunately, is drenched, and completely consumed and manipulated by pride. Blatantly disobedient to a very specific directive to one of Jesus's directives. 👇🏼 Matthew 23:8-16. It's like it was designed to mock Him. And the spiritual head of the Vatican is a disaster... 👇🏼 James 1:27
I like this sermon except for one little part: the WAY in which we bear other people's burdens, which I wish BB had touched on: You give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime. We also have to be careful that we are not literally "taking on someone else's burden" that they really SHOULD be shouldering themselves. There is righteous pride in helping yourself. Doing for others can become smothering, and at its ugliest, it becomes virtue signaling. Literally, there was a black muslim girl accusing the UK of creating a "white savior complex" because she claimed the UK gave money to black countries to help in a way that the UK thought was right (and likely in consultation with the local governments). So, the UK gave money for wells, and schools, etc... and this muslim woman was literally upset about it and accusing the UK of creating the "white savior complex". Huh. No, don't take up OTHER people's burdens. Help, teach, listen, be a friend, etc... but don't go around doing what other's should be doing for themselves. and I guess, make sure that those people want your help to begin with. Or if you give too much, it turns from a good thing to a thing that people resent.

I have just preached on this Gospelu in the Saturday Vigil Mass…really tough one this week! The Lord is shaking us out of our spiritual apathy. Come, Lord Jesus! Thank you Shepherd Bishop Robert. Fr Clive ( UK).
This is the most important message a Christian will hear. More than forbearing our suffering, we must love God above all. I see our Savior in Christians who have it the hardest. Their fortitude, and love of God through it, is humbling and inspiring.
It is so consoling and I cannot help but think in my own life when I think I have given everything, I see that I have received much more…. God ‘outdoes’ us in generosity. I pray for the continuous grace to let go of those bits I still hold back from God in my life. Thank you Bishop for bringing the Gospel to the here and now of my life. Happy Sunday from a Nigerian.
Bishop Barron, Thank you for this sermon. I am grieving the loss of one of my four sons. It has been very hard to understand but because I believe in God’s will I know my son is in heaven. 🙏🙏🙏
I’m very troubled. I am a new father and my daughter is exactly as Bishop Barron describes - EVERYTHING to me. I don’t even know how to “love” Jesus more than her. I believe in Jesus, I pray to Jesus, and desperately want to love him how I love her, but I don’t know what that means. I can’t see Jesus. I can’t even be fully certain he’s the Son of God. I’m willing to put my faith into him and do my absolute best to follow his instructions and remove sin from my life (even though I sometimes fail). I pray to Jesus for forgiveness, but I don’t know how to “love” him the same way I love my daughter. I feel an enormous sense of gratitude in my heart when I see her and for everything I’ve been blessed with, but I don’t think that’s the same thing. Can help me understand this please?! And pray for me too. Thank you!
Nothing in my life has come close to the Love I have had or given with Jesus! Everything not only comes from Him but will in the end return to Him! When I lay dying, it was His Love and His power that saved my life! And why? Because when He was here, He gave Everything He had or was to save me from my sins! And if I had been the only one He’d save, He would still have gone to the Cross!
Forgive me Jesus for only going to church on Sundays and not on other days when I could and should, forgive me for not loving you more than you deserve. 🙏🏼
@@Tommytoolsqueezer you’re quoting what Jesus is teaching about how to pray and a little further he teaches us the Our Father. If you want a reason for not going to Church then don’t look in the Bible. Going to Church is part of God’s commandments: Exodus 31:15 remember to keep the Lord’s day Holy. John 14:15 Jesus said if you love me keep my commands. Mathew 5:17 Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. And why going not only on Sundays 1st command love your God above all things.
Bearing peoples burdens: whenever I feel sorry for myself or depressed, I try to purposefully help lift up another person who needs care. Then we both feel uplifted. It's God's plan!
Watched a movie; Sally Field. The idea portrayed; is to be a rich woman; to take the reins of making life; a negotiation. If I need to fly; I will go. It was like the survival of the fittest mentality; and I turned off the movie. I know that; the movie would have a happy ending; of repentance. But Bishop Barron comforted my heart. Salvation is the most important thing in life; and it is not a negotiation; like buying a pair of shoes. We are in a world that is in that mentality. This is the time; give your hearts to Jesus.
"The marvelous demand that Jesus places upon us to do what He did, to bear the burdens of others." So often I'm tempted to think, "This is not fair! I don't deserve this!" Then I remember Jesus.
It's one thing to know Christ through all the means of knowing things. It's different altogether to know him through the light of the Holy Spirit. And Bishop Barron is a great help for that✨🙏
This was a passage of Scripture that always puzzled me, I completely understand it now. Starting my day with the intention of bearing the sufferings of others will be a seismic shift in my spiritual life, I know this will reap many graces. Thank you Bishop Barron for sharing such wisdom and clarity, the sheep are hungry for the truth of God's Word.❤
"...relentless demand and liberating power". Just as suffering promotes growth and through growth comes liberation and peace. Thank you, Bishop Barron.
What an amazing sermon! Wish the whole world could listen to this words. I am inyected with the love of Christ rigjt now and dont want to be neutral. Thank you Bishop Baron.
I wrestled with my faith for a long time. I have had many unfair things happen to be ( as we all do) however painful it might of been, there was always this light in the corner bringing hope. After the birth of my daughter, I had all these plans and preparations. ALL OF THAT WAS THROWN AWAY. I went through this purification, I got to the point where my life meant nothing, my child meant nothing, I surrendered every. Everything is yours Lord Jesus, TAKE IT ALL. after I had done that, all I had left was virtue and the present moment and then, only then did life make sense, did the next persons life make sense, did my daughters life make sense, did all life make sense. I can't unsee what I saw, so everyday is a moment for love, and I cannot put any limitations on that. This Gospel speaks deeply to me, and I need to be reminded daily.
I am so thankful for you, Bishop Barron! You inspire me to focus and act on your explanation of the Gospels. Today’s gospel had always confused me…. Actually baffled me! No more! Gosh, I got it!! I’m eternally grateful to you! Thank you!!
Thanks for shattering all my self-produced "wiggle room"! A truly inspired and crystal-clear message. A superlative among your always excellent talks. Enduring gratitude...
Our crosses also include battling each day against our egos, selfishness, the rejection from family, friends, co-workers for being a disciple of Christ. May our Lord though the sacraments of The Church transform us each every day to the very image of Christ in all holiness & love 🙏🏻
You truly know how to preach the faith. Thank you for being the Bishop that you are, you help me understand what my faith really means. God bless you Bishop Barron.
Well if you grew up with Protestantism, like I did, it’s very much Ho hum…just my opinion. That’s why I love Catholicism, it’s brought my love for God back. Thank you.
God bless you, Bishop! You've explained how we can, and must, Disciple Now! Disciple is a verb, not a noun; action for others, not thoughts that reside only in our minds!
"Relentless demand and liberating power"--those are profound words. Yes, the Gospel is demanding in a way that distinguishes Christ from any other religious figure, and yet there is great power because we are able to live the purpose for which God created us, to show Jesus to others so they can see Him and see God Who sent Him. I had some difficulty trying to make a connection between the first and Gospel readings for today, and I feel like this homily helps shed light on what it means to devote our lives to God, which is present also in the Psalm and 2nd reading. Thank you. Thanks be to God.
Thanks Bishop Barron for this Sunday teaching. I liked it when You said your love for me personally has to go beyond the most intense love of your lifes. This is a quit summary of the first Commandment: You shall have no other "gods" before me. God bless You!
Yes in my own family, my oldest brother who was my best friend for years, went from being a staunch Catholic to an Atheist, seemingly overnight. He has tried to convince me of the errors of my ways. But, I KNOW that Jesus is the Way. My own brother is not. So sad.
So good bishop, thank you for all you do , your way with words truly comes from your heart , your in the right field of work! I would like to add , with the world comes struggles with jesus in us comes joy for the struggles !! Godbless you for what you are doing
Thank you Bishop Barron for an inspiring homily and for helping me understand what it means to take up my cross. I know exactly where to find it now. 🙏
This message is truly profound challenging frightening and yet intriguing. Is it really possible? Being a follower of Christ is a call to action for others.
I always forget how much Jesus is different from other religions and who they worship or what they follow. Your point about making sure we love him the most is a good reminder for myself because I always get myself wrapped up in everyone else's emotions and making sure their life is ok, evenso more than myself. It's good to remind myself to put him first above others and then let him flow through me to take care of them and bear their crosses as mentioned. It might be easier with his strength and his grace by my side instead of holding others burdens and getting drained from it. Using the bible for reference etc, it seems as though all his followers were able to put aside everything and put him as first. Makes me want to go to church more lol. Some of the things I would do differently thanks to your message would be to read the bible more often and think and pray about things every day. Religion is not just when it's convenient, it should be a 24/7 commitment. The main thing Ive been doing wrong is forgetting and autopiloting back on human mode, when I should be letting Jesus flow through me everyday. What would Jesus do? Something totally different than most human minds think, and we should all be practicing letting him walk in our shoes and use us as a vessel to spread the word and act accordingly to his needs. We are his vessels and we are missionaries in this world.
Beautiful Homily! Thank you!! I have never felt more joy and peace in my traumatic and dramatic life, then when I gave my entire heart and soul to Jesus! I have had to give up my own children (adults) who have turned their backs on me because I became Catholic. This is not what I want, I want to reconcile, but Christ comes first. ❤️🙏🏼❤️
Your foolish. I don’t know the situation with your children but I am betting its not because your became catholic but for many other reasons. I hope you get back with your children they are your flesh and blood. Don’t listen to this idiot about loving god more than your own children. This is when religion becomes dangerous
Thank you Bishop Barren🙏thank you for your deep understanding, knowledge and the ability to share with us. It is such a blessing to hear your words, and know the Holy Spirit is using you to draw us closer to Our Father.
Wonderful sermon Bishop Barron!! My goal for this week is to ensure that nothing comes between me and Jesus. His love is all that I need. You have a true gift of breaking down Gospel into concepts we mortal humans can truly grasp. May God Bless you today and every day. 🙏
You are a true blessing from God!! Thank you for teaching us and may God bless you always and fortify you ever so more so that you may continue zealously in your sacred service on our behalf!!
Thank you Bishop Barron! Indeed I ask Lord everyday to help me on my path facing Jesus's challenging words. I pray quietly though. I never dared talking loud about these unnerving challenges. This is what makes Christianity and the mystery of the ever lasting love and the Cross and salvation a marvel! Thank you for your valuable words of wisdom.
Help us my King, help us Father, come Holy Spirit, help us be instruments of your Love and Peace. May we be worthy of thee , May we be capable of bearing and giving your Love, May our hearts be big enough to hold it and kind enough to give it. Help us practice to purify and grow our hearts to receive You properly. I lay at your feet, your humble loving servant, your daughter who asks to be close to you, could I stay with you? Could I love like you? hear our prays to be better for You. We love you now and forever. Amen
As much as I desire my children's love, God desires us to love Him; so much more in fact... Infinitely more is his passion for us than my passion for my family. We are to come to Him and draw others with us. We are to reunite with our Father, and help others do the same. This will please God with a pleasure far beyond any parent can understand; but has a taste of. This is the fulfillment of Love.
Thank you Bishop..... I do love Jesus more than all my family, brother (only one remaining as sister and other brother passed from cancer), than parents who also I pray are in heaven, children and grands. As my husband with Alzheimer's goes into memory care soon, I keep thinking of 'love' - willing the good of another and the words that you have written and spoken: "I remember the day when I first heard love defined. It was in my moral theology class, and the professor said very matter-of-factly: “Of course, for Aquinas to love means to consistently will and choose the good of the other. To love neighbor as self means seeing their sharing in the good as constitutive of your own sharing in the good. To love God, whose good we cannot will strictly speaking - as He is purely actualized good itself - is to love what God loves, which, of course, is the neighbor’s good. So we come full circle.” I was ecstatic!" Thank you Bishop!!!!

6 *Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.*
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: *he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.*
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 *Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.*
10 *In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,* neither he that loveth not his brother.
Nothing and no one comes before my kids, and if god and jesus have a problem with it, they know where to find me and i'll have no problem proving them completly and utterly 110% wrong..
I had all my worldly desires but didn’t find life until I found Jesus. Now I am so full of joy and peace and love and want everyone I encounter to know that they can have that joy and peace and love in their life, too.
When I was young, my mother said to me you have what you are enjoying in life, your profesión your good job because God gave it to you . I respond no! I worked hard for it. Now I realized what God aloud to have what you have not you. He gave it to you. My mother was a catholic with deep faith in god . I which she was here with me to let her know that i agreed. She was right. Without God you are nothing . ❤🙏🙏🙏
Amen
gotta respect this message..........I wish more Catholic churches had these types of messages
Yes indeed!
The evangelicals got this part down well.
We need more of this from our clergy or we will lose
Evangelicals teach falsehood!!

The church is one!!!
The Catholic church, unfortunately, is drenched, and completely consumed and manipulated by pride. Blatantly disobedient to a very specific directive to one of Jesus's directives. 👇🏼
Matthew 23:8-16.
It's like it was designed to mock Him.
And the spiritual head of the Vatican is a disaster... 👇🏼
James 1:27
When the good Bishop speaks about Jesus, you can see the passion and sparkle in his eyes.
Yet another phenomenal sermon. Thank you Bishop Barron, and God Bless you all!

Beautiful sermon, Bishop! Thank you for this. God bless!

I have just preached on this Gospelu in the Saturday Vigil Mass…really tough one this week! The Lord is shaking us out of our spiritual apathy. Come, Lord Jesus! Thank you Shepherd Bishop Robert. Fr Clive ( UK).
Oh, the Holy Spirit is rolling his Rock, and shaking his Ship. Love ya, BREB. ❤
Your blessing, father
This is the most important message a Christian will hear. More than forbearing our suffering, we must love God above all. I see our Savior in Christians who have it the hardest. Their fortitude, and love of God through it, is humbling and inspiring.
Nailed it as always Bishop. You are always ON FIRE! Your holiness just pours forth from you always!
Bishop Barron,
Thank you for this sermon. I am grieving the loss of one of my four sons. It has been very hard to understand but because I believe in God’s will I know my son is in heaven. 🙏🙏🙏
May you be encouraged by the hope of the resurrection and the love of our great God. May you be drawn into the grace of the Holy Spirit.
May God grant you the fortitude to bear this loss❤

Thank you!
The more you put god as your greatest love the more you will love your daughter!

Matthew 6:5-6 You don’t have to go to church to come to Jesus
One of your best sermons. You’re really on fire.
This is a very challenging teaching. Thank you for not letting me off the hook.
God Bless you Bishop Barron you are a blessing for the Catholic Church today!🙏🙏🙏
Heavy duty teaching. Being a Christian is not for wimps. Am I up to the task? Lord Have Mercy
None of us are up to the task , you are so correct !
Just you keep it coming your Lordship. This is what the world needs. God bless you Bishop. Love from all of us ❤
Simply the best homily I've ever watched
God bless Bishop Barron, peace be with you 🙏
It's one thing to know Christ through all the means of knowing things. It's different altogether to know him through the light of the Holy Spirit. And Bishop Barron is a great help for that✨🙏
This is correct.

Beautifully said, Bishop. Thanks for always taking difficult things head on, being real, and guiding us with your wisdom to the Truth.
In other words, let others see Christ in me by being Christ-like to others! WOW!!!
"...relentless demand and liberating power". Just as suffering promotes growth and through growth comes liberation and peace. Thank you, Bishop Barron.
Such a lovely sermon Bishop Barron, may GOD bless and protect you always. ➕️♥️
I am grateful for your testimony; it was a blessing to me.
@@MorreHope that's all I wanted. I won't forget you and you in my prayers 🙏 ❤

Our crosses also include battling each day against our egos, selfishness, the rejection from family, friends, co-workers for being a disciple of Christ.

You broke it down again some more from mass last Sunday. Heavy!
Lord give me strength!
Thank you.
That is a helluva mouthful for a Sunday homily. The Lord doesn't demand much is an understatement. That gate is getting narrower by the day.
Jesus is always first. Amen ❤️ 🙏
Wow, Bishop Barron never misses, and he really scored on this one. Thank you Bishop.
So sad.
Don't worry he will come back and the Lord will accept him with open arms.
That what you do Bishop Barron you live your parents and you do his will God bless you his servant 🕊✝️🕊
Thanks Father Barron for you preaches . That’s help me a lot to find the right way of Jesus Christ .
Articulate, thoughtful, and expertly conveyed sermon Bishop, thank you for these each and every week, especially when we can't make it to Mass!

Bishop Barren,,you speak clearly......thanks for always explaining the Radical Jesus.....what we must do to follow Him.
Awesome! Now this IS evangelization!!!
