Our daughter was 25 years old and died at home from a rare disease. She suffered terribly and we prayed that Our Lord would end her agony. Our prayers were answered and as she was passing she glowed; started laughing and told us to let her go. I think she met her grandfather who was a funny fellow. Afterwards, she looked lovely and at peace.

My parents lived their Catholic faith as best as they could. Both died in emergency rooms. Dad praised God as he received the last rites. Mom was semiconscious and was intubated; my sisters and I surrounded her bed and prayed the rosary. The priest arrived to administer the last rites while we were praying. She died as these were going on. We live out our faith from birth to death and to eternity.

My oldest brother passed away in March 1995.
He was a very humble and religious. I told him one of my favorite Bible passage which deals with death is Lk 2:29-30.
He died at the hospital emergency room exactly at the time that we were praying the 4th Rosary’s 4th Joyful Mystery (Presentation at the Temple) which had the beautiful words of Simeon’s canticle, “Now Lord you may dismiss your servant in peace for my eyes have seen your salvation”.
The emergency room nurse told my sister that my brother woke up and in a trance uttered the words, “Now I understand, now I know, sir. Yes, sir, I am coming”.

I truly believe in life after death where we will see Jesus. For this to happen, we must have a personal relationship with Jesus and have him at the center of our lives. We must walk with Jesus every moment on earth and be vigilant while awaiting his call. A life of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving sets us on the right path. Grant us, O Lord, your spiritual guidance so that we may remain faithful to your call, and help us avoid all occasions of sin so that we may be pleasing in your sight.

I am going to have to write to Bishop Barron. I'm not sure I understood what he was talking about when discussing Sheol. As I understood it, Sheol was where the souls of the righteous went prior to the coming of Christ. We say that Christ descended into hell when he died on the Cross. No. He did not go to the hell of eternal damnation. He went into Sheol to let all those know that the Gates of Heaven were to be opened. They would be opened upon His resurrection on Easter morning. After that, Sheol would be closed.
In the Bible, we are told that Elijah was taken up to Heaven in a fiery chariot. Was he actually taken up to Heaven. In John 3:13 says, "No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven--the Son of Man". Thus, none of the three, including Elijah, actually went to Heaven. They went to Sheol to await the opening of Heaven's Gates. As far as I know, there are only two corporeal bodies in Heaven - Jesus and His mother, Mary.

I think the answer is heaven is a real place. Only it’s not the eternal consummate reality that the Bible points to. The ultimate reality is the second coming of Christ and the resurrection from the dead.

So faith comes from hearing the message, and the message that is heard is what Christ spoke.Romans 10:17
Imo knowing truth of God's reality, comes by curiosity to know His love in history. Comes from people who wrote experiences, and just like anybody need discernment to understand conscience, is this God speaking to my heart. Many in war societies felt the Lord say destroy the enemy, but you get later effects...King David could not build a sacred Temple of God. Moses could not enter the Promised Land. Jesus comes to clear up the Old Testament history the thievery done in His Name by His People and seen inability to enter rest with God. He does hide...and takes coming to Him like a Father, to regard Him as Source of love and charity. The Lord is invisible to the disbelieving world though He sees what each does and feeds righteous and unrighteous. Faith is a blessing of going with good.... when you dont hide mercies from others.
Illumination does happen if consider your heart to love it purely, by feeding it spiritual signs that do good to your ability...a little day by day...to know Creator of the world as He gives His breath to us, sustaining life also through responsible servants.
God's gift of His Son is the Only Sacrifice needed when want to let go of hardened beliefs, and receive miracle of innocent impressions again.
      To do well,in life,
so are willing to accept God's protection of others, when in enemy territory for them to drink from the only watering hole around.
Saw on YT a lioness direct her cubs, by drinking water when a lone hyenna came to a small reservoir. It signalled not to harass. There is a call to protect God's Work in other usual enemies in their daily needs given universally by God. Some competition like food allowed, water is not.
So also with other needs in others by God, to allow finese of unseen calls to soul, perhaps from ancestral regional needs in people as descendants.
We are mixed group and need different signs to trust truth. Responsible with little, you will get more patience, firmness in connecting to God's Company, and hope.
Again do not be harsh if meditating about unknown things. Google why people believe what they believe.. Jesus Christ Gave Us His Substitute Death on the Cross, execution by authorities of Himself, The Innocent Man,
and is the only Offering God accepts for our mistakes,
      not our punishment,
or society war or slavery malaise
or anorexic way of eating food, a bad offering toward heaven,
The Lord desires Divine Mercy in us, a union with God's abiding love.
To me as Roman Catholic convert ("Anglia" English, N German Scandinavian background), I share a mystical communion with a family in heaven, a society with His Eternal Kingdom. To me paradise is the best way to do things God wanted you to do but denied in frustrated world. St Therese of Liseux also believed no purgatory punishment desired by God...only a Child of His has to do is believe like Good Thief on Cross. The Lord has done nothing wrong.
The Lord will teach you Himself what is hest to do about controversial topics...and in His Kingdom, to me it is happening for souls now in Paradise.
Makes you more beautiful longer there as taught how to do work well for Creation.
Store treasure in heaven, so rust and moth dont destroy. When get denied trips or finding perfect love, or having a family...peace in heart as God does give that in protected time and world.

And that existence is one great ACT , one great event of existing things in a living dynamic. Catholics understand God as BEING. Not some other being or material cause. We are always in the immediate all that is and it is there , we are here, as gift called to joy. When you see a beautiful sunset , you really are looking at an immediate act of God and why it is beautiful. Beauty is a function of purpose. Cheers.

His excellency doesn't say what happens to a person's soul when he dies. If my soul goes to purgatory, my body will stay in my grave. If I'm made of my body and my soul, they are parts of me. If my soul goes to purgatory, heaven, or hell, my corpse will stay on Earth. Who knows how long my soul will wait for Christ to resurrect my body and reunite it with my soul? When His Excellency tells us what happens after anyone dies, I want to ask "How long after that?"
Bishop Barron doesn't explain the relationship between the body and the soul. Since our souls survive disembodied when we die, the separation is like the one Plato describes in his dialogue where Socrates drinks the hemlock in prison. In it, Socrates tells his friends that he's eager to. die because his bodily functions won't distract him when he talks with other philosophers in the afterlife. Socrates believes he is what we'd call his soul and wats to leave his body.
Bishop Barron's sermon. But he left out what happens to our souls when we die.

It emanated pure joy as if i could reach out and touch joy.. then a strong sense of peace before it shot away through the wall of my house after maybe 20 seconds. I timestamped the clock in my room and it later matched the time he passed in hospital and i had no idea his life was in danger.

Thank you for the explanation by Bishop Barron. it is comforting to know that we will have a spiritual body ; when do we get that transformation? like every human being with the exception of B.V.Mary, our bodies will decay and become part of dust., except those holy ones whose bodies never corrupted. i believe Jesus and B.V. Mother will come to us to receive us at the time of our death and take us to the Father's House, our Eternal Home. Then , there is the state of purification in purgatory, before entering Father's Home? In the parable of the prodigal son, the Father embraced the prodigal as. he was , dirt and all. Does that mean that I will be embraced by the Father with all my stains as well? and then , He will send me to be washed and cleansed (purgatory) before the eternal entrance to our Father's home? Either way, I am going to be with Him ; time will not be a factor in Eternity.Time applies only here, right? Then, why we give time frame in purgatory? Too many questions of course...

I have now watched 3 episodes from this channel featuring Bishop Barron and question if the Bishop speaks for himself or does he speak for the Church. Other religious leaders, elders, and scholars have different interpretations of the bible messages. The Bible says that after we die, our body is buried until the day of resurrection, when Christ returns. At that time, we will be raised bodily from the grave and reunited with our soul, and we will be with the Lord forever. However, the Bible also says that when we die, we cease to exist, and the dead can’t think, act, or feel anything. And it also says those who have died-both righteous and wicked-will be raised to life in one of two resurrections. No, I can not follow Bishop Barron's teachings but I will consider them as one man's opinion. 👋😎

    The Rich Man and Lazarus
    Luke 16:19-31
The story of the Rich Man and Lazarus is another well-known illustration of Jesus. Through it, we learn about what life after death is like. At times you will find some who dismiss the significance of the story by stating that it is only a parable. However, it is not called a parable in the Scriptures and it contains one feature that makes it different from the parables that Jesus told: this story names one of the main characters. In Jesus’ parables, an illustration is given from life, but the illustrations are generalized. They are something that could easily happen, but Jesus is not talking about one particular event. In the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus, details are given about a particular event. Even if this was a generalized tale, it doesn’t mean the things discussed are not true or only imaginary. All other parables are based on real events. Labeling this story a parable does not make it any less real.

I take that as meaning that he became the bread at that moment so he couldn't be there in person as well. ..not like at the Last Supper when he says the bread is his body and wine, etc. Because he had not yet died on the cross he risen flesh had not yet become the bread and wine. He was showing us what to do in memory of him ...the ceremony of the sacrifice where he would be present after the resurrection.... Correct me if I'm wrong Bishop Baron. Thank you for your homilies!

I came to same idea . . . re: the transfiguration of Christ when He and Peter and James? went UP the mountain. My thought was this speaks of what is often called the Beatific Vision (when our
souls, who RISE in Christ, are not simply 'wisps of air' but we will SEE all loved one's who went before us who are in the Glorified Body of Christ. We will be our own 'person' but also we will have
a 'body' so we can see our loved one's and they will see us...and, of course, the GLORY OF GOD, Father Son Holy Spirit will shine brightly around us. It will be a NEW BODY in Christ, who
live 'thru us' when we were in flesh. (didn't die, rose and lives in all who say YES to do His will) If we let him reside within our fleshly body, He will allow us to have a GLORIFIED body in heaven.
aka A PERFECT 'body.' (and life will be same LOVED ONE'S SURROUNDING US forever.) Then eventually, we will have our original bodies resurrected and there will be a new heaven/new earth
NOT sure how that works but KEEP THE FAITH...GOD can do anything.

However the bishop appears to also say that faith is a gift . Unfortunately or perhaps not, I have not received this gift. I am troubled because it seems that only the chosen get this gift (like St Paul who received it through no effort of his own). On the other hand the catholic faith says that everyone is included in God's plan. So it seems that I am back to where I started for two reasons. 1) the faith pre-requisite and 2) the bishop presented a catholic view without any compelling argument.

This is confusing. If we open a grave, the body is still there, in a state of decomposition. My personal body is disabled and sick. I certainly don’t want to be stuck with this for all of eternity.

What happens when someone dies ?
    Psalm 146 : 4
His spirit goes out , he returns to the ground; on that very day his thoughts perish .
    Ecclesiastes 9 : 5
The living know that they will die , but the dead know nothing at all.
    Acts 24 : 15
There is going to he a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

It seems to me that what he said is that when you die, you just sleep until you're resurrected, whenever that is. There's no going to heaven, hell, or purgatory.

While I believe in a life to come and that Jesus died for every man salvation it’s very difficult to believe as a free gift. And that He would die for me personally as I know I am unworthy.

I am so very glad & happy for anyone who dies in the state of sanctifying grace, but I do not believe that i will die in the same state of grace, because I have committed many mortal sins, & I do not believe that GOD the SON is going to be able to forgive me, & thus I am open to hell with all of the devils 😢😢😢😢😢

After watching a video on what happens after we die, I still don’t know what happens after we die. First What happened to Jesus is described. Am I to believe what happened to Jesus will be what happens to me?
The Catholic Church is always unclear on this point: according to the Church teachings we have a specific judgement when we die and then travel to heaven, hell, or purgatory. Yet during the Profession of Faith during Mass we state that we “look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come”.
After watching this video, I am no more clear on what the Church teaches on what happens after we die than I was before I watched.

@@riley528i6 The Book of John was written by an unknown author 90 to 100 years after the death of Jesus. It is based on beliefs, which are just that: human understandings without any empirical evidence to support them. Religion is based on faith for which there is no empirical evidence.
Catholics make up approximately 16% of the world's population. Christians account for approximately 30 percent of the world's population. Assuming there is a deity, although there is not evidence for one, believing that only 30 percent or less of the world's population would be saved, whatever that means, is madness.

A Catholic priest eloquently explains Christian fairy-tales about death, and gets away with it because you have to die in order to prove him wrong, and dead men tell no tales.
However, you can reasonably infer what REALLY happens when you die. Under general anesthesia for an operation, your brain activity is suppressed. As a result, you have no consciousness or experience. When you reawaken after the operation, you have a memory lapse and don't remember what happened. When you die, there is total cessation of your brain activity. You will have no consciousness or experience.

Jesus said in John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. To get to heaven we need to accept by faith, Jesus as our atoning sacrifice, our saviour, that he took our sins on the cross. His resurrection is our promise that when we die - we also will be with him in heaven.

I feel it does not matter whether we get buried or cremated. Not everyone can afford a pot of a land and either way we do not maintain the physical body unless your body becomes incorruptible like some saints. My mother acattered my dad’s ash but I think (of course I don’t know for sure) he is fine on the other side.

Sheol is not some "shadowy half life" as this preacher thinks, the word means the "GRAVE" and that's what it is, burial place of the dead. Life does not continue in any way!
(Psalm 146:4) His spirit goes out, he returns to the ground; ON THAT VERY DAY HIS THOUGHTS PERISH.

I have not yet heard him say that you need to be saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ you must repent of your sins. Jesus talked to Nicodemus and told Nicodemus that he needed to be born again or he cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven so you must provide the way to get there you can't just talk about it
