A quick remind for those of you who want to beat this game in duckstation, at the church part you'll need to turn OFF PGXP if not the game will break in this part of the game.I'm not sure now if this is going to be fixed 'cause as far as i remember stenzek said it has something to do with the game itself not DS.
I played the game from start to finish recently and I only encountered problems on 4 places, The Church, on the room where you lower the bridge, before meeting Cybil on the boat and when you use the triangle thing and some rays come out and hit Alessa
@@warpedpolygon Just looked at reddit posts and the problem still appears to persist. Any widescreen settings must also be turned off to get past the crash, then can be re-enabled again. Same with PGXP.
@@warpedpolygon Yes, PGXP and Widescreen hack must to be turned off at the church and in some Cybil cutscenes. It will not be fixed, I was looking for the reason in DS's discord but I couldnt it was discussed ages ago. but it is simply a matter of set up a hotkey in order to quick turn these enhancements off then after it turn it on again.
@@angelslu2468 Indeed, it still happening nowadays, you're right there are 4 parts that we have to pay attetion when use widescreen and pgxp, but, they are at the very middle/end of the game. if you intend to beat it 5 times (in order to 100%) all the endings, well, mind these options
@@warpedpolygon Not sure why TH-cam hid my comment, but I'll repost it: it's a "post process" frame generation that doesn't need motion vectors like FSR3 and DLSS3. So if a game is running at 30 FPS and you run the 2x mode on Loseless Scaling (LS), it will generate those extra frames to mimic the feel of 60 FPS (this adds a little bit of input latency, but it isn't really felt IMO especially with a controller and non FPS games). You can also run at 3x and 4x, but quality degrades the lower your base frame rate is and with higher outputs like 3/4x. You may also want to enable "Skip duplicate frame display" on Duckstation for higher frame outputs. It's worth checking out, it's pretty cheap on Steam and it's a game changer for gaming on emulators.
@@warpedpolygon It won't do anything about frame drops, it will just improve overall fluidity as it's interpolating more frames, i.e., if you're running at a base 30 FPS and drop to 20 FPS, with frame gen at 2x it will look like 60 FPS dropping to 40 FPS.
Followed the recommended settings such as yours. Beautiful, for me I added a CRT filter just to give it a more retro vibe as I remember playing this on my 27" Sony Trinitron. When the game first came out of course. /Cheers mate!
Maybe you also want to cover Silent Hill 2 - Enhanced Edition by Town of Silent Hill? While not for emulation, I think it would be interesting as a setup guide.
Thanks mate, Going through some horror games during Halloween month. first up is SH1, then I will move over to the PS2 emulator for 2-3-4. love these vids, you earned a sub.
I play with 60 fps (420% OC) I never got stuck or notice anything weird the only issue is the sound of radio that sometime didn't stop after a loading screen transition.
I wouldn't say remake did poorly. It's popping off actually but you did make this video before you saw launch success so fair mistake. :) Rest of info is real useful
Turn off PGXP and the Widescreen Hack before the Church scene. Your game will crash after the cutscene every time. Also there's crashes related to PGXP & Widescreen Hack at the control tower for the bridge if you pick up/activate the health drink or control panel, and the cutscene after the amusement park boss fight. On that note, if you skip the cutscene rather than let it play out, the crash won't happen.
I get a message saying please insert PlayStation cd rom when opening the silent hill 1 file 😢. Where did you download the silent hill 1 file to load into duckstation please?
