Ironically got into TF collecting again last year after about a 15 year hiatus. While I really like a lot of the Legacy releases for being fun, and simpler and crying over a feel of durability that felt forever lost SS86 was a real highlight as collectors were finally getting decent, articulate, and accurate iterations of some of these G1 characters. Ultra Magnus definitely made my top of the year as did Ironhide, Ratchet, Brawn as despite unpopular opinion Coronation Starscream as I never had the Siege/Earthrise releases and the throne, crown, and movie accessories made it that much more worth it. The best use IMO of the Siege Ultra Magnus though is the Nova Prime which despite being the Siege mold retooled is still a great novelty figure and who doesn't want a War Criminal prime in their collection. Never got the Earthrise as it looked terrible from the first release and does everything the Siege mold did only significantly worse. Siege mold for what it's worth is fun for its own thing like either RID2001 or Animated. SS86 though will be the definitive to own Ultra Magnus for hopefully ever as I don't see Hasbro revisiting the design anytime soon.
Agree wholeheartedly with all of this... except for SS86 Starscream. The Siege Starscream was a 10/10 figure for me, but the Eathrise mold seemed like a let down in comparison. Really hoping we get a new g1 seeker mold at some point, but I'm not holding my breath. Especially since Dirge was re-released in the last wave.
