Happy heavenly 95th birthday, to the 9 time Grammy Award winner Miles Dewey Davis, born this day in 1926, one of the all time Jazz greats, a true legend
I was fortunate to see the Davis group in Japan the summer of 1987 along with numerous other groups thanks to military welfare and recreation totally free. It was a 12 hour jazz festival. Word was only 9 tickets sold so they refunded us! Best concert I’ve ever seen.
I love how Miles and Foley had that special little bond on stage. Miles always keeping him so close. Like he's trying to keep him feeling safe while he wades into new territory on the lead bass.
This is so beautiful,,, everybody's on point,,, even that girl ova dere!!! Such timing & improvision & atmosphere... This the type of shit you couldn't copy!!! What a team😁😚🤷🏾♂️✊🏾💪🏾💐🥳🗿
“I have to change. It’s like a curse.” “Music is an addiction.” “Jazz is like blues with a shot of heroin.” “Jazz is the big brother of Revolution. Revolution follows it around.” "Anybody can play. The note is only 20 percent. The attitude of the motherfucker who plays it is 80 percent." Quotes attributed to Miles Davis 6:39
Beautiful rendition! Is the Saxophone easier to play correctly than the Trumpet? As it seems Kenny doesn't play any wrong notes at all but Miles does seem to hit the wrong notes at some parts. (e.g. at 2.06)
I was told...man getta go c miles Toni g ht jack..ain't been here since 63...the best concert I've ever seen....87" Stanley theatre downtown Pittsburgh PA...n I've seen a lot...
Beautiful in so many ways. Miles beckoning Foley at the very beginning. And those two cheek to cheek, brothers, just making magic happen. Just one of the many great things about Miles. He always put the music first. Never too ashamed to say, "Hey man, come over here 'cause I need some help."
Timeless and infinitely spacious. Miles had progressed to the point where he could just make things happen around him by his presence. Kenny Garrett's solo is the high point, as it always is in any unit he plays in.
This is Miles at his creative peak. He heard everything. Played it. Felt it. Open horn. muted. Please listen to Marilyn Mazur. Credit him for bringing in a young woman to keep time for the group. Listen to her play. She's driving them. I miss Miles. Simply a genius.
@@Vb98765 he said creative peak, not peak performance level. I agree fully with him. Most artists do reach their creative peak towards the end of their lives. See Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" for an example. By creative peak, Alan means that this is when Miles' creativity was at it's most profound and expanded as far as his broadened vision and profound grasp of different genres. He was able to bring together some amazing artists that may have otherwise gone mostly unheard of. The material which he decided to play with them was all fueled by the ideas and directions he had been pursuing his entire life. I believe that is what is meant by the claim that this is his creative peak.
Pure genius of FOLEY tuning his bass an octave higher than usual bass standard using piccolo strings to make him sound like a lead guitarist. Dude is a genius. This whole squad is pure magic a potpourri of geniuses from different realms creating pure abundant energy.
On this and every other track on You're Under Arrest, Miles pays a tribute to the original by lifting it up on waves of emotion. Even the ghost notes he allows to slip through, you can hear it. Magical. Amazing. A true legend.
May 26th: Happy birthday Jazz Trumpeter-Composer-Bandleader Miles Dewey Davis III (1926-1991) 8 Grammy Awards, Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, star: Hollywood Walk of Fame. Thank you and God bless. RIP Legend. Thanks for the upload, Jazz 4 All. Blessings
This song can mean everything ,it contains,it holds, all the sentiments that live in the HUMAN NATURE ,Miles Davis plays, living all of them ,in his own breath ,like the wind does.I know few of Jazz ,but i've known him .Thanks great video !
There's something I've observed in this world 🌍. No matter how much effort you put into whatever you do, some people were born as antagonist that never sees anything good in life or about it. They will always look to discredit your stuff. Despite the much music maturity, professionalism and intelligence packed into this version of "Human Nature" by Miles Davies & Co., some 39 "beings with no human before it" still disliked it with their thumbs down......
Miles...entra nella testa e ti porta a spasso....quando pensi di essere arrivato a destinazione, ti sorprende con una strada musicale nuova...inarrivabile Davis

Can we just give that jacket a moment of appreciation!

Yes
Where else can you find sooo much Miles and all the old cool stuff .
Indeed he may have physically gone from this world but his music transcends time
It's not music it's a moment in human history.

And that would make two of us. Thank u, AM, for the lessons, RIP; u r, now, with ur idol. Peace, Par
I feel like we need to remember the magic of Quincy here.
May all their talented souls rest in peace.
Don’t want anyone to think that Quincy Jones has passed on - 86 and very much alive
Was going to comment that Mr. Quincy Jones is still alive as of 2day; but, I c ur addition. Peace.

Für mich der größte Jazzer des letzten Jahrhunderts. Was hat er an Musikern zusammengebracht, die Dank Ihm alle weitergekommen sind.
Miles was the best & to hell with all the other FUBARED lists saying otherwise!
This song is the epitome of jazz and the way it is written
Had this played at my 60th hope to have it at my 80th. Have loved his music since first hearing it in 1960. GENIUS!!
What a beautiful arrangement. Glad to say I was lucky enough to see this performed live in Northampton, Mass.
I can share your feeling since I saw Miles in his July 1986 concert in Rome, Italy
Very good musical study material on the aspect "less is more".
Ya, less is more space to jam!
well said

Not sure how the two are related, but you do you.

Miles would have been all over the Internet and all it has to offer in terms of putting his and young talent out there !
Love how Miles and Foley communicate via the pineal gland or 3rd eye. It’s why Miles brings him close.
The sun in my life Miles Davis .🌅🤍
Thank you Miles to be on this planet and not on any other!
man he's playing a bit out of tune in some notes
I so miss Miles and other great Jazz musicians. They were on a different presentation of music

Genius
You ain't kidding about Kenny Garrett. He plays with an almost effortless swing. And that ain't easy.
Seems understated but far from it. An appreciation of each other’s talents
Saw this live… magical
I can't say how much I love this Guy and show ... fantastic

creative peak? you're joking right?
Yes, peak. If you don't think so you've entirely missed the point of his music. Best to read his own words about the matter of him "going pop"
