Thanks for another great reaction Cynthia. This terrific REO Speedwagon song is so ubiquitous it's almost impossible to listen to an "Oldies" rock station without hearing it at least once a day. One of the great power ballads of the 1980's. Cheers from Ontario, Canada!
Cynthia, you seemed genuinely moved by this song. This is a fantastic song, on every level. Singer/songwriter Kevin Cronin struggled for a couple years to find a chorus to match his superb verse sections. Musically, melodically and lyrically. Songwriters often circumvent many different avenues to find that last missing piece of the puzzle. Mr. Cronin, after countless attempts, went back to the beginning. He asked the question, 'What is at the heart of this song" After reading the songs first line "I can't fight this feeling any longer', he knew he had tapped the essence of the song. IMHO This is REO Speedwagon's true Masterpiece and the highwater mark for the band. I love this song, RNB
