I just want to say, I'm so glad this channel is here. Thank you, Andy. Lots of people have joined the gear review party on youtube and I like most of them. Probably all of them. But you're still my favorite.
I have this wonder pedal (playing it at this very moment!), and Jack’s Shepard’s End flanger. These are two unique pedals, utterly beautiful tones, and together sound a little like Heaven on Earth IMNSHO. Thanks for the demo, Andy, and thank you, Mr. Black..!!
This is worth the price of admission with the Glitch feature. Best sounding Chorus/Vibrato combo I’ve heard since MXR into’d theirs way back when. This pedal encourages one to play , explore & play some more … certainly this needs to be on my board … hopefully soon 😉 … 🔊🎶🎸
Andy, you hit the nail on the head when I asked you about a tremolo. I’m now in the market for a phaser maybe even a phaser/phase shifter. I want something that sounds great with 70s style funk rhythm and can do the Jerry Garcia noodle stuff well. Any thoughts?
In my book the 2 best are the fulltone vibe and if you want one like with the ad one it would be thus one. This will be my 2nd buy that will be a keeper.
It sounds sooo thick and complex with overdrive and gainy riffs, I love it... Jack Deville always delivers man! Will keep my supermoon chrome with me forever. Also Andy: would you say the Hamstead is in the vein of an old Vox AC30 or more Fenderish? Cheers
Has anyone else had issues with this pedal being noisy? I've had other analog chorus pedals and they aren't as noisy as this one. Absolutely love its sound, just wish I could reduce the noise.
I did not find this pedal to be any more noisy (analog hiss) than others like the comparable Thorpy Oggin. If you are hearing hum of some kind, that's not a pedal issue but either power supply or ground/60 cycle issues. I'd be interested to hear what kind of noise you're getting from this because Mr. Black knows his stuff. Thanks!
2:27 The rate LED also changes behavior (notice the glitch and square pulse very different). Your ear will also grow to recognize the cycle order. Thanks for the question!
After the fairly recent Mr. Black analog chorus/vibrato (same size housing--unfinished, same price, with three controls), I had hoped that this one would be S T E R E O (other companies have reissued their analog choruses as stereo units). Alas, it's just an enhanced version of the last one that I purchased. You make great stuff Mr. Black, but pass on this one. Think S T E R E O, please.
Agree, it's the deluxe version. I thought the same years ago when I bought the Chrome Supermoon, I wanted to put it in a stereo setup when I heard that spacious sound. Modulation - time based effects should be stereo, especially of this price.
@@nowaylabs The stereo Chrome Supermoon is FANTASTIC, and a perfect application for stereo. It's really puzzling for me...one cannot use the excuse that it's too expensive to produce an analog stereo chorus, since DOD made an entire series of stereo analog choruses for years at a great price. Couple the improvements with the enhancements of this pedal and Mr. Black would have an absolute dominant stereo analog chorus (which I would buy!). I know that Jack could do it!
@@wajobu Yeah, you can still buy any of those DOD Chorus pedals for $100 or less. Stereo outs. Stereo ins and outs are the new, “...if it only had tap tempo...” when it comes to comment sections. By the way, I agree that it should at least have stereo outs, but tap tempo and stereo will never make or break a pedal for me. I would say buy two, but it’s a bit overpriced in my opinion. BBD chips are only going to get more expensive, so I guess the $300 pedal is becoming more normal. Ever use a TC Electronic Stereo Chorus/Pitch Mod? They aren’t the most affordable used, but it’s a killer chorus/flanger/etc. and stereo.
Love that Andy's a Buzzcocks fan.
Jack is the master of analog chorus. Was excited to get the Black List message, and even more excited to see that you've demo'd it.

Thanks so much!!!
The square wave is what makes this interesting to me.

Thanks for the demo, Andy, and thank you, Mr. Black..!!
Your enthusiasm is catching 🔥👍🏻
Awesome demo! Really shows off the pedal. Best pedal demos on YT. Cheers!
Andy is The Guitar Master! I love his demos just because of his playing! The opening tune reminded me of RUSH!
Andy is one of my favorite people I've never met. This dude is a guitar god.
Oh my...I think I've found a new favorite C/V pedal.
That chorus crunches up real nice. Tasty.

Yes,the Glitch waveform is an underrated feature here! Glad you enjoyed it!👍🏻
Its so easy to see when Andy enjoys the product. And he really enjoyed it here ;).
Buzzcooooocks! ...also the Chorus sounds really good.
now this was killer

Like Jerry’s phaser on a budget maybe. I love analog warmth

Square wave stuff at 4:19 is awesome.
I'd be all over it if it had stereo outs
Crazy oversight since his Deluxe chorus is stereo i/o
Yeah, I just want a dry and wet out. Then I’m happy. I know it’s analogue so don’t need proper stereo.
Just wait for the acv deluxeDeluxePlus hahahah

seems chorus (and most effects) deserve stereo outs by now, aye?
Yes but do you, in turn, deserve them? In my case, no I don't.
early PIL rendition i think?!! poptones. sooo good checkitout

Yay Buzzcocks!

Beautiful tones. Quick question. Other than your ears, is there a way to know which wave of the 4 is set?
2:27 The rate LED also changes behavior (notice the glitch and square pulse very different). Your ear will also grow to recognize the cycle order. Thanks for the question!
The Rate LED will show you what wave is active, in real time! It's pretty easy to determine where you are at. ;)

How close does the glitch mode get to Shallow Water territory?
people generally struggle to find a use for chorus, people aren't Andy :)
I find that pushing new ideas through a chorus is not nearly as productive as jamming on a chorus to find new ideas.
Buzzcocks 🤘

Sounds so excellent, thank you. Though: no stereo outs? Seems like a slight misstep at this price point ($300+).
Can you get Trower vibe sounds out of it?
You might get something kinda similar, but Trower utilized a UniVibe, which is more of a phase effect than chorus.
