- Welcome back to the Sims 2 Pleasantview renovation project! ✨ In today's video, we're moving in Coral and Herb Oldie into the hood. They're settling down in a cozy cottagecore house at the outskirts of town. 🏡🌳
The Oldie family is often ignored in Sims 2 gameplay because most people find elders boring. But I've given Herb and Coral a comfortable small home where they can learn new hobbies and hang out with their neighbors.
The house has a homey, welcoming look filled with heirlooms and furniture they've slowly collected in their youth.
This sims 2 lot build is part of my big Pleasantview renovation project. The goal is to make sims lot makeovers for ALL of the pre-made hoods and start a let's play series with a large sims 2 uberhood full of all sorts of uncommon couples and storylines.

I really love how in the sims 2 you had families that are related to each other live in different homes. The house looks amazing and I can't wait for this series to start!
Right? It really creates a sense of a small, tight-knit community. Can't wait to start playing too, we've only got 2 more family renovations to go through ^^
I always give the Oldies a few Asian style trinkets, since i like to pretend that they adopted Mary-Sue from Takemizu Village and they got a few souvenirs too
This is very fitting for a retired elderly couple. Hopefully Herb doesn't go astray like Daniel Pleasant already has...
In my game, I changed Coral's hobby to Arts and Crafts [in the OG game it's Film and Literature, my mistake from the live preview], so she could do some sewing in her old age. This was really helpful to get some money for the family. She also helped Brandi take off with her clothing brand, and even helps Florence Delarosa in the Flower shop from time to time. Herb meanwhile, has become a garderner and helps John Burb [his daughter's husband's brother-in-law] with growing plants. I also gave Herb the 'Hopeless Romantic' mode as well as used ACR to 'set to totally faithful', as I didn't see Herb as a Serial Romantic type. The two also adopted Meadow Thayer, a teenager from the Pleasant townie pool. She became really close with Angela and Lilith, slowly able to help them put their differences aside and become friends. Meadow, fittingly, also loves to help her adoptive father with the gardening.
Oh I'm changing their hobbies for suuureeee. When Maxis made these Base Game sims they didn't consider the release of a chemistry or hobby system so everything is random and doesn't match their bios or "vibe". Herb and John gardening together is a great story arc for both of them

In my headcanon, the Oldies originally owned the Pleasant house before moving out to retirement and leaving the house to Mary-Sue when she married Daniel.
Once Daniel cheats/ moves out, the Oldies swoop back into town (and why they are in the family bin) to care for their daughter and granddaughters - finally giving Angela and Lilith the parental figures they need and Mary-Sue the freedom to focus fully on her career.
Now I love to think your build here is how the Oldies lived before returning to Pleasantview in my game. What a quaint life they left behind.
Aahhh I love your story abt them and it seems logical, they didn't have a lot of money as a bin family but then Mary-Sue has this huge house..
As you said in the video, just make videos that you feel happy sharing with us. That is what gets most of us to watch, if you yourself are happy with the product you've put out. I've loved your renovations so far, and I can't wait for the gameplay to start. But don't burn yourself out, considering you already have a lot on your plate. Just post the video when it is ready and to your liking :)
-Also, I have to agree. I LOVE building houses in the Sims 4, but as soon as the house is built and I start playing, I get so annoyed with all the bugs and the gameplay itself. Sims 2 is what I grew up with and will always come back to.

And yes, ts4 is great for building, you can have plenty of fun doing just that. I think the gameplay can be enjoyable too, however I've found the simulation lag and similar sim personalities (everyone acts the same because of the emotions system) so it doesn't make it interesting in the long run :
I love that you were doing your own thing with this lot - I don't mind that you added the foundation. The result is more than lovely! It's a really nice space for the cute Oldie couple .. let's see what they will do in your gameplay soon ^__^

alsoooo... in the spirit of not knowing all of the sims 2 mechanics despite playing the game for years, how do you move decor up and down a wall? thank you for sharing!!
the hug bug can come from any download. there’s a mod that fixes it
idk if/when I can upload these makeovers because they're very CC-heavy :/ I'm considering it, but I'll have to see how to do it. And I've never experienced the super duper hug bug in my game. I think I've downloaded the fix just in case tho.
If you have Apartment Life EP you can shift some wall decor with the bracket keys [ ]. Otherwise, I also use a mod called Shiftable Everything that lets you move around most objects up and down kind of like in the Sims 4 modthesims.info/d/670142/shiftable-everything-move-any-object-up-and-down.html

Cute builds as always 🥰 Also, I think the Oldies would have another bedroom in their home because Mary-Sue is their adoptive daughter. So it made sense for them to have another empty bedroom in their home.
I didn't even consider that flskfjdkdk 🙈 I was like Mary-Sue has her own huge house rn, her parents don't have to worry about keeping a room for her 😅

I love this! The inspiration image was great, I love the color scheme inside, and the little details like the old computer in the bedroom and the boxes of files by the desk are very on-brand for the Oldies.
I noticed at one point you erased some terrain paint - is that a vanilla feature of the game that I just haven't figured out in 20 years, or is there a mod for that? I only started using mods a couple years ago, and it's never occurred to me to look for something like that.
Maybe I should... and look for a square brush like in TS3 while I'm at it, lol.

@@koddmm2659 honestly, I never thought anyone would see my videos for a long while so I never made anything with the intention to put it up for download. So I didn't start building with that kind of thing in mind. My game is heavily moded and I use 10+ gigs of CC, I can't guarantee anything will look the same or run normally on other people's computers. I just wouldn't want to upload something that is broken and messes up people's games on accident. I am interested in creating custom hoods to share with the community in the future, but unfortunately I simply don't have the time to commit to such complex tasks at the moment.

Hi and welcome, I hope you have fun watching these videos! 💕 I swear by the mod Shiftable Everything (it's on MTS) for moving objects up/down. I also always use the SetQuarterTilePlacement cheat, move objects + sometimes SnapObjectsToGrid and ConstrainFloorElevation.

I'm considering uploading the lots, but probably not anytime soon. These lots are VERY CC-heavy and are populated so I'm conscious about borking up the packaging.
