    I like busy wallpapers but I prefer them with wainscoating or something. They're much better as the top half of a wall with a bottom. Also a big fan of solid paint colors with kickboards and crown molding! I still love watching your builds though because they give me so many good ideas since our taste is different.

    • @AniBats
      @AniBats  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's awesome, I love that we can all express ourselves like this with different tastes and still enjoy each other's stuff ❤ Oh wow really? That's so interesting! In Sweden, house owners usually have to formally ask the government for permission before building anything on their owned property. And if we paint our houses in any colour that doesn't fit in with the local "image", the house owner is forced to repaint it 😂 So silly

      @@AniBats Oh! We have something similar in the US. Some historic districts and "Home Owners Associations" will set rules like that as well. I get the appeal but I'd rather have more freedom... Until I drive past that royal blue spray-painted house in a neighboring town and wish that someone could have stopped _that_ choice lol

    These turned out beautifully Ani! Id have never imagined the transformations but I agree you kept the original feel of them all, very nicely done. Its so fascinating to me how different people’s observations and life experiences affect what they do in the sims, for example you said you find solid colour walls unrealistic but busy wallpapers realistic and its the complete opposite for me, I’m very used to seeing walls being a plain colour with a skirting board along the bottom, often even just a cream/beige colour. When I see wallpaper its usually on one feature wall with the rest being plain. Wallpapers to me are quite old fashioned actually, like you’d see in a 70s house, but in ways they can look really grand as well. Love how you use them! Also, I don’t think I’ve really quite gathered how you handle finances in your gameplay, do you give sims the money for whatever house you want for them or do they have to be able to afford it already or do you have like a loan or mortgage system perhaps? Id love to know more about that! Merry Christmas!❤

    • @AniBats
      @AniBats  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you so much, Gabby 🥰 I agree, it's really interesting how we all view the sims from different angles. I do get what you mean, and I agree that wallpapers are generally old fashioned in real life and not as common, that's true. I think though what I experience in the sims is that those completely plain, one-color walls (especially those without trims) look extremely flat and that they make the entire house feel less realistic. Even adding one-coloured walls with different textures on it removes that entire thing - that's why I like having cement texture walls, wooden panels etc that adds depth and dimension to the walls. Also the wallpapers with busy patterns have the same effect, for me. But that's just me, as you say, we all look at these things in different ways.
      Oh, well, finances usually go like this: the kids grow up with their parents, sharing their finances until they become young adults. They richest families tend to transfer money to their children's accounts, so that they have something to start with. But so far that's only been the case for Dina's son Gabriel (I think). They can also, of course, get scholarships the normal way. Then, they move into a shared student apartment with one or two of their friends, taking out student loans for approximately 10 000 simoleons each. I furnish and prepare their apartment, using as much furniture from their childhood rooms as possible, and then have them pay back some of the remaining money on their loans at once, keeping it fairly equal. (Some sims keep living at home, such as Alexander Goth, Ricky Cormier and Iris Copur. Others have moved into their own house at once, with help of a mortgage and money from their family, such as Sophie Miguel.)
      During their studies they live off of the money they earn from passing terms, as well as their potential jobs (most of my YA have full time jobs). Once they have graduated, they need to move out of the student apartments at once, and that's when I decide whether they will move into a starter home, a bigger house, or another apartment. Depending on what I pick, I will take out "a mortgage" for them to afford the house, or let them take out a small loan to afford furnishing their new apartment. I can also send money from their family if I feel like it makes sense.
      So when they start out their adult lives, they can either have a small student loan that they pay off on, living in a cheap apartment (such as Beau Newbie). Or, they can have both a student loan and a mortgage that they need to pay off simultaneously (such as Randy Lillard). I generally allow the sims to take out loans whenever they need it, which I feel is quite all right seeing as Monique's Computer has such a ruthless interest rate.
      Once they become elders, and get "hospitalized" with pneumonia from my sickness dice rolls, they move into the nursing home, and whatever money they brought with them they will divide to their children. That happened with Abhijeet Bertino, for example: he lived alone in an apartment, so when he moved to the nursing home, both Orlando and Oliver got the majority of his money, one half each.
      For families with poor finances, they can ask for money from the church. Every Sunday, there's a sermon that I hold with help of Sophie David's Opportunity Pack (the mystic icon). The money that the priest earns he or she puts into their bank account, and then hand out to applicants on Mondays.
      I think that's the gist of it 😂 I hope that was comprehensible. Shorty put: I manipulate the town's finances with help of Monique's Computer, depending on what I want to accomplish.
      A very Merry Christmas to you too ❤

      @@AniBats Hey, I hope you had a lovely Christmas! Sorry for the late reply - I kept meaning to go on PC to reply because its so difficult to reply to a long comment on mobile when you might want to go back and read bits then just kept forgetting! Anyway, thank you so much for taking the time to write that long explanation. Thats really interesting and quite similar to how I handle things really - the Loans and Bank Accounts on Monique's Computer are so essential to me! I love a family having a loan or 'mortgage' to pay off because then they don't just constantly accumulate wealth as soon as they have a suitable house. Rich families helping out their younger generations is a great way to spend some of their funds too.

    • @AniBats

      Thank you, I did ❤ I hope you had a wonderful Christmas too. No worries at all, I do the exact same thing 😊 Ah cool, Monique's Computer really is such a great object. I agree, it does make things a lot more interesting when they don't instantly get wealthy, but have loans and higher bills to pay.

      Haha, well only issue is that so much can be done with the CFE cheat that I wouldn't be able to think of all the ways. Only the imagination's the limit really.
      But some of them would be: connected garages, mock floors, split level staircases, house on a foundation with the entrance at ground level, split levels inside of a house, elevated roof pieces that can be angled separately, slightly shorter/taller walls, two level basements, swimable ponds, pools with glass walls, arched bridges, domed roofs (such as the one I made for the greenhouse at the science lab).
      I'm sure there are hundreds more ways to use it that I can't think of right now though.

That way, I don't claim ownership of any of the additional files; you can see exactly who created them and where to find any additional files if it comes from a set. So you only need the files I included in the download for the houses to work 😊
