"Aenys was the oldest son of Aegon, the Conqueror and Rhaenys Targaryen thus being the second Targaryen king of Westeros. He married Alyssa Velaryon as a political settlement, and they had six children. His reign was initially welcomed, but many doubted his ability to rule and considered him weak. His main enemy during his government was the Militant Faith for considering the incest practiced by the Targaryen family an abominable act. Aenys was fragile during the crisis thus placing the responsibility on her half-brother Maegor. Aenys eventually gave in and handed Maegor the Blackfire sword, which belonged to his father, admitting to everyone that he did not compare to his brother as a warrior. His health deteriorated with the rebellions that broke out until he died at the age of 35 after reigning for only five years. Even having a son, the cruel Maegor succeeded with the support of Visenya Targaryen, which caused suspicions of Aenys' death because it was Visenya who took care of her health in her last moments."
