If you use this remote relay for opening and closing the CD changer I recommend putting the remote unit in Momentary mode. If its not, power stays on to the motor if its in latched mode like whats being demonstrated in the video. This unit is sending voltage to the wires which runs the motor. The with the second button it reverses polarity which reverses the motor. In latched mode the voltage does not turn off when the door is open or closed. In momentary mode you have to keep your finger on the remote button to open the door then you release it which stops the voltage. Press and hold the second button which reverses polarity and the door closes, then you release the button. Even though the motor does stall at the end of each cycle (door open and closing) for the time you release the button this does not appear to damage the motor or draw enough current to blow a small 1 amp fuse. There is a momentary contact switch on the CD player which was used for the original function and could be used to stop the motor but this would involve more circuitry and does not appear to be needed.
I have been searching for this exact thing for a long time. A tip I've got is to add the name MOST system that's the of the loop with all the different devices which the CD changer is a part of. I was searching for that might have found your video faster. Thanks for the great instructions much appreciated.
Is it just a case of you need a way to power the motor? Do you reverse the polarity again to close it? Thinking of this solution vs other potential ways of doing it....key is going to be the logic required. (Arduino/raspberry pi zero or something like that might lead to some interesting ways of doing this).
Just wanted to say thanks so much for posting this video. Have been looking for a way to get the cubby to work for years now, and got the same module and wired it in the same way and it works beautifully.
Amazing , but how the motor know to reverse when its in open position ? Because i see only 2 wire that going to the motor ! No forward and backward option ? Maybe there's switch into the motor himself that tell him in what position they are
is there a WIRED version of the switch relay? Would like to discretely (secret) mount a button to activate the door without the extra fob to keep up with. Great video by the way!
I thank you for this video. I am changing oem stereo and was chocked because the eject key didn't work. Now I know why. But what is the other solution if you don't use the relay and remot?
Hey buddy, I for the life of me cannot get the actual changer out of the control housing. I’ve tried, and I’ve got the unit out and off the dash, but getting the changer out, to put in the compartment is killing me. Can’t find anything on the web.
Wondering if mine is a different unit ay 11:14 you've got it folded but it looks like on the fold yours says 6/12/24v cathode.... where my schematic reads 220v live line...which looks like household mains AC voltage.... wondering if I was sent a version for a house not a car...? Not sure if I van just wire it up your way and hope for the best as it visually looks identical to yours....
In case if helps others there are two versions of this switch which look almost identical make sure you get the 12v not 220v version! I've returned mine and ordered another.
I will definitely update this on the next video along with the radio installed. I do have the radio with me in question. I'm just waiting for my DVR Camera to come in so I may begin with the video.
Question: some after market radio’s ensure this canbus keeps working(at least steering wheel controls) does that automatically mean the door will also still work?
nice video mate. thats a cool setup with remote. i have this on my e55 w211. the switch is hidden under the steering on top of foot well. hidden away. it is good for putting wallet and small things like that but a little awkward for my big hands to get around the gear selector when putting things in and pulling out. sould be fine for smaller hands though. ill post video of mine on my yt.

Another great video man...👍 Please don't stop with W211 Mods....
Thanks, will do! :)
thank you! very nicely explained, but I'm still looking. I want to use the original button.
You're welcome!

Can you do this but without the little remote so you just press the button & it’s the hidden compartment & not the CD changer?
Very cool! But is it possible to just use the button? I put a fibre optic loop on but now the power for the charger. Want to use the space.

works a treat, can't stop making the door go up and down, thank you very much.
Ive been thinking of this and I’m so glad someone ended up doing it. Looks cool and great
I also have been wanting to do this for sometime. I am hoping this helps out the ones wanting to do this themselves.
@@PANZERSGARAGE it does not really work cd changer in anyways waste

How much volts is the battery? It opens so quick and smooth
Perfect explicación thank you

Thanks for doing that!! Can’t wait to do it in my car!
Good luck! Simple job and very easy to do
Show it installed in the car please! Also what head unit replacement did you go with?

Yes & yes.
A proper aftermarket with a cannus module.
@@PANZERSGARAGE thanks for the quick reply friend
Is it easy to remove the CD changer guts?

Do the hazards and headrest drop buttons still work after you change this or does it only affect the cd changer button
When putting this relay it’s only for the door. The other harness that is yellow is for other functions like hazard, warmed seats, head rest drop etc.
Good info thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
I have a problem my radio turns on and off and my CD changer won't open 🆘
Can I fit this on my c 230
You put the changer back in anyways 😂this car is def a pain for me
Pretty much!!!!!!!
Waste of my time lol
