      Amen to that. After Walmart discontinued 5.56/.223 and 9mm, they still kept the 308/7.62 ammo as hunting rounds.

    Hey Who just went to the range with a ATA TURQUA 308 first three shots with Federal Non Typical 150 junk was .75 sub moa. The ATA is the first Turkish rifle made for the world , they make the weahterby orion so I already know they are very good machinists. Actually a well built robust bolt rifle. Threaded 24 inch barrel and a adjustable comb on the stock.This is a budget rifle that shot very very well, give them a look see, I am not disappointed. Cheers

    I’ve enjoyed this game also (I even have some of the ‘Right to Bear Ammo’ loads but I think mine are 220gr FMJ). Subsonic .308 used to be pretty pricey and very hard to find. I found some Cor-Bon subsonic at a ‘going out of business’ sale once (only 1 box available). Now I think Winchester makes some so it’s a little more plentiful.

    That first 208gr sounded supersonic. Be careful with that heavy/long of a 308 bullet going that slow out of a 1:10 twist barrel. Should shoot them at paper without the suppressor first to make sure they are stable out of your rifle. 168gr should be no problem.

    I'm assuming because of the highly reduced speed (and energy) of these subsonic rounds that they're probably good for smaller game like foxes or possibly coyotes (900 ft. per second velocities can't be good enough for deer-sized game unless one hits them within 30 to 50 yards and in the head or neck area--I can't imagine a subsonic round having the energy to go deep into deer-sized game). Is it mainly geared toward plinking and close-in target shooting? Nice Bergara rifle!

    • @AbstractPragmatism
      @AbstractPragmatism ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My guess would be for range fun and hogs. Should be ballistically identical to subsonic 300 blackout loads, and that's pretty much the use case for them.

    Just be carefull with the 208s they usually need an 8 twist barrel. You could get baffle strikes if they don't stabilise
    The reason the beck say 11 or 12 that's the minimum twist to stabilise. You can always run a faster twist without issue. The 208s are a lot longer thats why 8 twist is reccomended. The 3rd shot didn't go in the same hole was likley unstable I'd stop shooting them through the shoosher

    • @williamgaines9784
      @williamgaines9784 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the bullets are the same weights & are going the same speed, it is no different or "better". The offering of subsonics in the various calibers IS what is better in that one doesn't need to buy additional firearms to do different jobs(but hey, I have multiple to do the same job😊), but if one has a self loading firearm, they would definitely want the ammo to function their action properly.
      The subsonic advantage of rifle over pistol is accuracy and penetration(much greater sectional density).

    • @albertlemont5471
      @albertlemont5471 ปีที่แล้ว

      @William Gaines you missed my point. A 300BO cannot do what a 308win can, but a 308 win can do what a 300BO can. Now if your talking about an auto loader that's different.

    • @williamgaines9784
      @williamgaines9784 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'll never understand why so many people want a pellet gun when they could have the power of a rifle. Put a muffler on a pellet gun and you have the same thing OR buy a high power rifle and use it as one.

    What is the barrel twist on the rifle?

    Very cool !! You think that it would be useful for hunting?? Don’t know if that bullet expands enough with that 900 fps🤷‍♂️

      I wouldn’t on medium and large game. I think even the 300 grains @ 1050 ft/s out of a 8.6 BLK are questionable. 45-70 and 458 SOCOM subs suppressed

      I do not recommend subsonic for hunting. Small game is fine, but not foe deer

      That’s what I’m saying you might want to try it in ballistic gel so people won’t try to hunt with that stuff 👍
