Thanks for taking the time to review this stand. I've ordered the Evolution 210cms so this will be a perfect combination for a beginner like me who has started enjoy basic wood projects much later in life now that I have more time.

Just bought the stand today it really feels like a solid peice of gear, I see you've attached the saw to a piece of wood before offering it on tho the stand smart ! I'll be doing the same. Thanks Russell appreciate the video

There should be no need to make a base Martin, unless you have an old Evolution saw (made before the current range) or a saw made by a different manufacturer. The only reason I made the base was because the Rage 3B saw that I had, did not have holes drilled in the base that matched the stand brackets. The stand is a brilliant addition to any workshop! :-)

Hi, I agree with everything you have said about this stand, I bought one a good while back now and have never regretted getting it, in fact, I now leave my DeWalt mitre saw clamped on the stand all the time now, and when finished just stand it on end. Great saw accessary.

    Hi Russell,
Just put my new R225 SMS saw together after watching your video - really good - thank you. I've now watched this one on the stand (which I bought at the same time I got the saw) and am worried it won't fit. Be that as it may - good review. One small tip if I may: always try to have the light source (i.e. the window in this case) BEHIND you when filming. Shooting towards the light source will cause the subject (i.e. the stand and you) to be underexposed and you'll be silhouetted against the background. And that's not so great for us viewers! ;-)

      Hi Tim,
Sorry about the lighting. I have my R255SMS mounted on the stand and it is a great set up, so don't worry it will fit. Good luck with your endeavours! :-)

@@RussellPlatten - Yeah, I've done it - the fit is good and I agree that the stand is a great bit of kit for the money. I hope the saw is too! I bought it to build a 5 x 3 metre garden studio which starts tomorrow - followed by a deck. The stand came with a bunch of extra nuts 'n bolts that I've not used which I guess Evolution throw in for people wanting to mount other manufacturers saws on their stand.

@@timwilcox960 Make sure you check your saw for accuracy and adjust if necessary. That sounds like a major project! Good luck with it all, be careful and remember - measure twice, cut once! :-)

Thanks for sharing, Russell. Can you say what the maximum distance between the slot ends for the mitre saw base (the maximum distance between the mounting bolts)? What is the maximum stock length that can be cut using the stops? Thanks

I agree with you, Russell, it is very good value, the ONLY quibble I have with mine is the two Rollers. They don’t sit parallel to the floor, but have a slight angle so they are not flat, like the main Saw platen. Is yours the same? There doesn’t seem to be any way of adjusting them!

Hi Mike. I do not have any problems with the rollers on my stand. There is a little bit of play in the post that holds the roller. I can alter the angle of the roller by a few degrees before tightening up the knurled knob. May be you can square off the rollers this way. In practice, the rollers only need to contact the workpiece in one spot for the roller to provide support. The clamp of the saw will push the workpiece down onto the saw table and keep it flat. If the rollers are way out of alignment, contact Evolution, I am sure they help you. :-)

Russell Platten thanks for your quick reply! As I’ve only had it for less than a year, and there’s a 3 year guarantee, I may well contact them to see if there is a solution. Happy DIY-ing!!!

+Kalmi Szabo I am 5' 11" and it is fine, I do not think you will find one much higher Kalmi. It is still better than using it on the floor or on a table and can easily be carried to the work site.
