    Nice spraying! Saw a painter last week in Whittier spraying an exterior and a cloud of paint flowing down the street. Neighbors cars all over the place, I couldn’t believe it.

      Lol i saw one like that the other day! Guy mustve had a 515 tip spraying fascia off a 6ft step ladder, just spray and pray.

      @@MrC9Oh3 exactly. I know it was a 515 cause dude was using the graco project painter, comes with a 515 in the box. 😂 need a good ass clay job on all the neighbors cars.

      Ha ha that is too funny. Probably had the paint watered down too thin and the pressure up all the way blowing off every corner. using wrist motion instead of spraying straight at the wall. I watched a guy one time spray like that. Travis and I were laughing so hard. Damn I wish I filmed it. Before youtube. He looked like he was chasing flies. Whipping his hand all over the place. No pattern. 24 inches away pressure up all the way and whipping like hell. The whole area in front of the house was blue. Because that is what he was painting. Lawn, bushes, walkway driveway. just mist of paint all over the place.

    Yo Mike! Been here since you started this paint channel! Just wanted to thank you for all the money you’ve helped me make I always give credit to you! Flat tips, flat brushes, and proper technique are key. I’m 23 now a licensed paint contractor in Huntington Beach Ca. Thanks again for teaching us young guys a thing or two! No Idaho and no Home Depot guy techniques!🤣

    Hi mike really appreciate the time you take to put out these videos, you seem to spray closer than 12ins that’s recommend is that to keep over spray down this is not a criticism as I’m just getting into spraying and wanting to learn thanks 👍

      funny I was just noticing it looks much closer in the video. I am about 10 inches away or more. between 10 and 12. but it looks like Im at 6 to 8 alos looks like I put a thin coat on but it was almost running.

    • @mikethepainter
      @mikethepainter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      probably a bit more than that but not much maybe 2 mils. . Heavier than it looks in the video for sure. Sprayed it as heavy as you can without globing and runs.

    Hey Man, When You Caulk / Patch The Cracks Pre-paint / Prep. Do you have to go back and Prime Those Spots Before Applying Finish ?? Does It Make any Difference in this case of what you show in this video.

    • @mikesrandomvideos
      @mikesrandomvideos ปีที่แล้ว

      No primer necessary over caulking. I'm logged in under another account but yeah don't need to do that it will make a shiner if you put primer down sometimes it will fill in the stucco too much and you'll have a mark on the wall

  • @madcowusa4277
    @madcowusa4277 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video. What do you do with your gun if you need to pause spraying for a while or take a lunch? Seems the paint on the tip is going to dry and clog, no? Dump it in a bucket of water? Can't find this info anywhere.

      You can tell by how close your spraying to the walls the amount of paint that's going on . Do love your flat tip set up , very little overspray. Keep on the good work mate 👍

  • @swordfish1120
    @swordfish1120 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you pressure wash every time you spray a stucco wall? I recently sprayed a few HOA entry stucco walls that haven't been touched in 30 years. I tried to take a pressure washer to it (lowest pressure setting and standing back 3') but stucco started blowing off in chunks so quickly put a stop to that. I ended up just brushing down the walls before spraying. Not ideal but the HOA wasn't looking to pay big $$ fixing the stucco issues. Have you ever run into this issue? Btw flat tips are the way to go (thanks for posting all the vids on the subject) and I really like using the Silver Plus guns. I recently bought a used ARO gun for $25 (looks just like a Silver gun). Never knew ARO made spray guns but the trigger is amazingly smooth and I has a lighter pull than any gun I've ever used. I'm sure the reason few have heard/used these guns is the ridiculously high price these cost, but if you can get one for cheap they are worth every bit.

    • @mikesrandomvideos
      @mikesrandomvideos ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I'm logged in under another account that I have but yeah. I have only seen little tiny chunks come off the wall and I still wash it. No major ones but once it's painted usually that stops that. The paint kind of holds it all together. I remember somebody color-coded over a house and I wasn't going to fix all their crap either and painted it. I think I just used a hose to get the dirt off. Then once it was painted it all stayed on there pretty good. I'm not sure how long it lasted it should have been painted long before.

    How many man hours did it take you to do that house

    • @mikethepainter
      @mikethepainter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      3 days with 4 guys. I used to do a house like that by myself in 5 days in my 30s and 40s.

    • @nothingsimpostleble1593
      @nothingsimpostleble1593 ปีที่แล้ว

      @mikethepainter So 70ish hours.. sounds about right.. The way I learned to bid(older veteran painter like yourself) is man hours to do job plus cost of paint and material multiplied by 2.. I like your gun set up with the flat tip... I think it's good for a lot of things... if you're doing same color on color stucco for sure definitely seems like the way to go I'm up in Sacramento / Roseville area so we definitely have a lot of stucco houses but we also have Hardy and batten board as well.. problem is, is there's so many hack illegals in this trade that it's completely oversaturaded... It's always a little ford pick up truck with about 10 ladders(all tied down with ropes lol) some ghetto silver rims, and a little graco electric and trash every where. I like to use a 3-foot production wand with a swivel either a 515 or 517 spray tip. I like using the double orifice green tips because I feel like I don't burn thru paint as much... I really don't cover as much as I should because I don't really need to. I have a one buddy and he's exactly like how you say he lays drops everywhere literally drop cloths as far as the eye could see.. on the fence.. on the ground he will plastic over the pool...etc..... he says he does it for looks but he's honestly just way to paranoid...

    Do you back roll it ?

    • @mikesrandomvideos
      @mikesrandomvideos ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not necessary. Really important to spray straight at the wall this will prevent shadowing. On a major color change it helps also to cross spray. If you do it this way you will probably never need to backroll stucco. Usually the mistakes people are making isers reaching too far with their spray. And that causes you to spray at an angle which gives you shadowing. Also not knowing this you're also getting much more overspray or dust which is not good.

    Hey is it okay to connect 2 hose whips together ?

    • @mikethepainter
      @mikethepainter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      best to have longer whip because you are dragging the weight of the connector or use short whip.
