I’ve just added the Era300’s as rear surrounds to my arc and sub 3 in my cinema room and it sounds absolutely amazing, like nothing I could have imagined. I have mine on the Sonos floor stands, these are nearly 1 mtr tall so easily clear my settee. I know it’s a lot of money but I would highly recommend this set up to anyone who is considering it, there is no way you will be disappointed, everyone who hears it is amazed by how immersive it is together.

That’s the thing I love about the Sonia arc & the 3 Gen sub & the 300 eras all together - it’s so fluid & coherent. The audio is so balanced & hits whenever it needs to. I was wondering if should maybe add an extra sub in the future

Great video again guys, thanks. I have a slightly different setup using the Sonos Amp and a pair of Kef Q350’s and a Kef Kube 2 sub. It’s great sounding but obviously missing rears doesn’t give me surround. I’ve been considering adding a pair of Era 100’s although would the 300’s be a better fit given their Atmos capabilities? Great video as always! I've got myself a Beam Gen 2, and I'm wanting to add a couple of rears. I've narrowed it down to a pair of Era 100's, or a pair of the SYMFONISK Picture frames, I really like how the frames look, especially in white as they just look sooo clean, but I can't help but feel the era 100's will not only sound better, but I can position them towards my sofa (they will be behind each corner), for better imaging, and I've also heard the frames are quite bass heavy? I have neighbours the other side of the wall they will be on and can't help but feel they might vibrate through the wall? I can place the Era 100's a foot or so away from the walls on stands too which should stop this. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Thank you for the video. I am tending toward Era 300s as my surround. However, because of the shape of my room the Era 300s behind the couch (~3 meters away) cannot be symmetrically placed. They would have to be placed at different angles behind the listener. Do you think this would be ok? And trueplay would compensate for the speakers being asymmetrically placed?

    • @smarthomesounds

I ended up going with the Arc, dual Gen 3 subs, and Fives are rear surrounds for my LG OLED 77C1. The Sonos system is in a very large rectangular great room with 10 foot ceilings (family room, B-fast area, kitchen). I purchased everything right after X-mas before I knew about the Era 300 release dates. The current system sound fantastic! My cable provider only has Dolby 5.1 and most streaming I watch is only about 30%-35% in Atmos. I don't know how the Era 300 compare to the Fives with mostly Dolby 5.1 content in home theater mode? I can wait until the Era 500 come out, Sonos updates the app to add more speakers to compete with the Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6, or there is an Arc v2.

I have a Beam Gen 2, Gen 3 sub, and One SLs in my enclosed office (14 feet X 20 feet X 10 foot ceilings) and that fills the room perfectly. We like to watch Sci-fi, action movies, and listen to bass heavy Pop/R&B music and the second sub in the extra large main room adds to that. I've just swapped my Beam 2 for an ARC, having upgreaded the rears to ERA300's when they were launched in March. Also have Sub Gen 3. The recent swap to ARC was definately the least significant upgrade along the journey. Fist adding the Sub was a massive benefit, then swapping the Ones for ERA300 was just mind-blowing, and I really did wonder whether I should ever upgrade to ARC as the Beam/Sub/ERA300 set up seemed brilliant. However I could use the Beam in another room, so I ordered the ARC a week ago. I'd say the Beam set up was best for music, and I can agree that the ARC set up is best for Movies/TV. The ERA300's did seem to overpower the Beam on action movies, and the result was impressive due to overall volume and height from the rear, but I do enjoy a cleaner more controlled sound now with the ARC. The ARC and ERA300 seem to merge more seemlessly than with the Beam. Not an essential upgrade, but if you have the cash then I'd conclude it is worthwhile.

Yes, you can pair them as one big group in the Sonos App. That way you will get full Dolby Atmos and the whole zone volume will increase with your remote. Go to settings > system in the Sonos App and find the zone which the Arc is in then add surrounds. The app will guide you from there. Hope this helps.

Great video thanks for the information im new to sonos and have not purchased yet i haven't looked through your video catalog yet so this may have already been asked and answered but is there a beginner's intro video to sonos products ?
I own a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo and was planning on purchasing an arc along with a pair of era 300 and 2 gen 3 subs.
I know this is probably over kill for the space im currently in but im planning on possibly selling my condo in 2 or 3 years and purchasing an actual house and wanted to purchase a home theater system that would be suitable for a larger home space down the road when i do finally decide to pull the trigger and move.
Id rather buy once cry once, would this be a decent setup to use in a condo and then transfer to a larger space down the road ?
Any advice and information would be greatly appreciated as i previously stated im new to sonos and im trying to get as much information as possible before i pull the trigger and buy which will be this November because my Costco is having a sonos sale and im planning on buying everything all at once and want to try and ensure that im getting the best set-up for my current living situation as well as something that will be suitable for a larger space when i do finally upgrade.
Once again thank you in advance for any information and you've got one new subscriber as i really enjoyed the format of your content and the way in which you deliver information.

The video titled "Adding Sonos Rears: Don't make the WRONG choice..." by Smart Home Sounds provides a comprehensive guide on the various options available for adding rear speakers to your Sonos home cinema setup. The video emphasizes that the best solution for surround sound rears is dependent on your budget, your space, what effect you're looking for, and the soundbar you're pairing with. It encourages viewers to share their choices and tips in the comments and to get in touch with their tech guides for personalized advice.
Here are the key points and buying decisions proposed:
    - Sonos Ikea Symfonisk Range: This is the most affordable solution starting from £200 for a pair of bookshelf speakers. They are designed to blend into your home and offer a discrete audio solution. The bookshelf speakers are recommended for compact spaces while the frame and lamp offer a comparative performance to the Sonos One or 1SL.
    - Sonos One SLs: These have been the most popular solution for adding surround sound rears to a Sonos soundbar for the past few years. They are compact speakers and offer a great surround sound performance for most spaces.
    - Era 100s: These are a step up in surround sound performance and come in at £498 a pair. They are great surround sound speakers that are a good fit for any Sonos soundbar and will work in almost any space.
    - Era 300s: These are the ultimate Sonos surround sound rears and come in at £898 a pair. As Dolby Atmos enabled speakers, they are only compatible with Dolby Atmos soundbars. They are designed to give a different experience to your standard surround sound rears and offer a far more immersive experience.
    - Sonos 5s: These are the most expensive solution at £1098 a pair. They offer a totally different experience from the Era 300s and are recommended if you want the most powerful solution Sonos offers.
    - In-Ceiling or In-Wall Speakers with Sonos Amp: This is an option for those who want a more discreet solution. The Sonos amp comes in at £699 and the in-wall or in-ceiling speakers range from £599 to £699 a pair.

only possible as stereo OR (!) surround. once it’s a surround speaker setup, you’ll have to unmount in the sonos app and remount always with trueplay calibration to set them again as surround.
