The fact that this mech is friendly make me hoped we get to see more "friendly" scav npc roaming around on the map instead of just the warring factions. I hope we get to see more "boss" unit that is friendly as well.
I hope so too but with the tradeoff being its still dangerous to hang around them, like a massive target for other factions to draw fire to and shell casings flying can potentially squish us
I saw a guy run by highlighted green that said “civilian” yesterday. Had no idea that was a thing. Don’t know it you can interact with them, just saw him running off.
I had the good fortune of running into him in scorched enclave. Only to have my heart shatter when I saw him get jumped by two medium mechs and tanks. Rat king had fallen. 😢
Update, I managed to get him to spawn only for him to get stomped immediately by two medium mechs. He dropped rare materials, those green hex nut looking things.
Couple things: First, those of you complaining about jank in comments- Remember this game came out earlier than the OFFICIAL EARLY ACCESS was even supposed to be due to the massive support for TFW. This is aproximately Alpha stage development. We're not even in BETA testing, ffs. Jank is a given. Second, It would be cool if the devs make it so that Mechs who get too close to each other have melee animations or animations where they pull back from each other before re-engaging. Third, it would be neat if there was a special thing where if you prayed to RK on the battlefield, he'll come relatively close and either bend or squat a little to look at you, almost as if he's giving a little nod to those who worship him, before he gets back up and starts killing again. Fourth, all hail the Scav God. May he grant full packs and barrels of water!
@guts2787 the devs still indicated that the EA Release was much earlier than they had planned for and were expecting. This is still ahead of when they wanted to give it to us. I get your point guts. But to an extent mine still holds true.
Alpha beta Charlie, whatever you call it, early access is early access. People have the right to call out the jank when they see, especially when there's a price tag attached to it.
@s2korpionic true. However, there are ways to call out jank that are constructive and can get the jank fixed. Some of what's in the comments section here is... less than helpful regarding the issues of TFW. I'm not saying it's great. Some would say it's not even good right now. But if we want it to improve then feedback needs to be delivered to the devs, and it needs to address a certain issue. Just saying "there's so much jank" is not helping. That's my big point skorpion. You're not wrong, but I stand by my position.
You know with this new push foward in creating and playing video games, such as the forever winter, helldivers 2, space marine 2, blinding light and so much more. I would love to see a Trench Crusade video game.

Man, I love having rat king on raid because i no longer need to worry about tanks, choppers, exos, hell really anything but BE WARY when trying to pick up tesidue off his fallen victims as he likes to abruptly change directions and will instantly down you if he gets too close. Dude looks cool as shit though. Also, has anyone else noticed since the ransom 86 gig patch yesterday that maps are SO much busier than they used to be? I mean scorched enclave used to be an easy way to slide through, grab a few explosives or lockboxes and get out but now every raid the extract is like a warzone in itself. Also, just in case no one has noticed or played since then, if you loot all before identifying items, you cannot remove them from your inventory. I really do not care for this. Hopefully its a bug.

Europan mechs have 4 weapons. The main rifle, the back mounted minigun and two autocannons, one on each shoulder. The box on each shoulder houses a twin barrel autocannon. The rat king lacks the back mounted minigun but has the two autocannons. When you see the hail of explosive bullets its the shoulder mounted autocannons firing. The main gun fires a single high explosibe round
I made a scav-themed character in City of Heroes a while ago that I named Rat King. I'm gonna take the newfound existence of our Lord and Savior, the true Rat King, as a sign that I'm on the right path-- lol. Great content by the way, man, your gameplay's always full of those juicy cinematic bits that make the game so cool.
The first few seconds of the video shows the him fighting another mech known as Toothy, you can tell it's Toothy because he has body bags draped over his shoulders like a cape and a big MG over one of his shoulders.
They will be it's in development. They show that toothy can be disabled in some images. I think it's also where the HP levels will be in comparison to others, loot tables, and more.
This video sent me down a spiral looking at the units and art for this game. I’m thinking of buying one of those mini art mannequins and a mini Merkava model and making a diorama of a Mother Courage fighting a Corpse Tank. Thanks for the inspiration.

I feel like the Rat King's theme song would sound like a mashup of the Pacific Rim main theme and "War Season" from LISA: The Painful RPG Also, I think they should give Rat King some unique melee attacks swinging his giant rifle around like a club. Between very rarely shooting with it, bum-rush-centric AI, and the lore-wise logic of not having the tech know-how or steady supply of munitions to fire it, a player-friendly CQC-oriented mech would be a fun wildcard on raids

AI needs a lot of polishing lol....I either get spotted from afar or not and when it happens and I get seen I'm dead and it happens A LOT mor than not.
I know its still in development, but big ass things need some special AI, just low walk animations are not enough to make it more believable and getting rid of jank, especially when 2 big boys fought it off at the beginning
The game has a "threat" system. Basically things only insta aggro on you if youre a menace (killed others members of the faction frequently, has powerful weapons equiped, and other gigamajigs)
It is part of Scav faction (which is also your faction), so its friendly by default. Also all medium mechs in the game so far don't attack the player unless you caused massive casualty among its faction and/ or attacked the mech itself...
There's 1 mission right now where you take residue from victims killed by Rat King to be analyzed by the scavs. And yes he is killable, he sadly dies in the first clip of the video.
I know this games in Early Access and all but it seems like the AI could do with a bit more work. Lots of walking in place and NPCs trying to walk through each other.
artistically this game looks awesome but AI and gameplay wise... it really needs a fixing hope they continue improving on it because the game as a whole looks awesome, almost like a painting 9:02 in particular looks like a Beksinski painting I forgot which one it was but I'm pretty sure they based this frame on that painting

I had a round where the ? loots weren't droppable. But the next day they could be dropped like normal, so that was just a bug

imo if Rat King can be destroyed, so should Toothy and all the other unkillable enemies.
They will all be killable in the future. Devs just need to implement certain mechanics like armor, hit locations, and other stuff

Rat King is a stolen Europa Medium Mech and as the beastiary said~ it's got a lot of health but it isnt unkillable.
Best part was that ending. King is a scav too in the end so hands off da loots!
