I needed to hear this! They’re so special that they don’t get used . I don’t know what I’m waiting on. Maybe I feel like I’m waiting to be a better artist worthy of the money I spent.Or I’m waiting to get into a better place mentally so that I can actually paint. Maybe I’d get into a better place mentally if I would just get started at n something. Anything. Thanks

Hah! I “invested” in many tubes (like 47!) of Daniel Smith watercolor. I poured them into pans and and put them into metal pallets. I used them for 2 years and then stopped painting due to outside stressors. The longer I waited to paint, the more anxious I was that my skills had decreased and I didn’t want to use my precious watercolors on bad paintings. A year and a half later I decided to start painting again and I opened my watercolor pallets and they reeked of a horrible moldy odor! Ugh! Some of the tubes had dried up as well even though the caps were tightly on. I didn’t realize watercolor goes bad-so it’s good to use them even on “bad” paintings and not wait until later.

Don't worry, I'm not buying anymore art supplies until I've thoroughly used the ones I got 😌

I needed to hear this so badly. You have no idea! I have several Faber Castel and Derwent pencil kits, replacement erasers, lead, charcoal, pastels, oil paint, 3 kneaded erasers, art journals, posca markers, Prisma colored pencils, and 4 mono-zero erasers that have just never been used. I am very critical of myself and have never felt worthy of using supplies that genuine artists use. I always tell myself, when I can draw with a normal pencil and it's up to par, that's when I can move to the big kid's table. Now, hearing you, I realize that I'm more unworthy of buying such great supplies and letting them sit unused.

My wife and I caught Covid recently,, considering our underlying health conditions it's been quite frightening and very rough. A wake up call as to how fragile and short life is. We plan to pay for quality everything from here on out..

I had this for a moment but then I realized that I am keeping "in store" for some unknown future that I'm not even sure I'll live to. Nobody knows what the future is, we might be dead tomorrow and we wouldn't have felt the pleasure of those supplies. So, I went full in 😁

In the last year I haven’t needed to buy watercolor paint or any other supplies. Well except for drawing pens witch I go through a lot. 😮 I recently purchased 3 more micron pens in the sizes I use the most and 1 different size cheap sketch books. I did this so I wouldn’t need to go out this winter When the Flu and Covid cases go up. (I have a compromised immune system. ) My challenge for myself, is to use up what I have for the winter season.

My husband and I are so glad to have found you. We both are drawers but had not been drawing. Thanks to you we are drawing again. The icing on the cake is that you live in phoenix. I was born and raised there from 1958 till the early. 80s. Arizona is in my heart, probably in sunset or sunrise form with a few cacti and the sound of a dove. Thanks so much for your influence. We are grateful. 😊

Thank you for this reminder. While I don’t know how to paint I do have other arts and crafts that I enjoy. Time to get more supplies before it’s all gone or too expensive to afford

Oh my gosh! So true! I bought a set of special Daniel Smith watercolor tubes and watching the lady demonstrate, the pile of paint she put on would’ve been a whole tube just to try it out to see how it worked, let alone paint anything! I used a little bit which didn’t give me a good idea how it works and I haven’t used them since because I don’t want to use them up!

I mostly buy sketchbooks when they are marked down cheap like mostly name brand.
I do have other supplies to and I do my up most best to use them quickly so they don't go to waste.
But I'm not buying anymore until I use it all up. But you sir are 100% right.

Art supplies are ridiculously cheap... My philosophy, buy em, play with em, or just keep them on the shelf, let your heirs toss them :-) I love these things cause they put me in touch with past artists... touching what they touched, using what they did, concerning myself with things they concerned themselves with... I don't let artsits shame me ---"do you know how to use these"? Well, do you know how to use your $20,000 jet ski? lol... I prefer colored pencils
