    I'm ok with the wait. Just means my down payment has more time to grow. As long as my current car holds up, I'm not in any rush.

      That is how I am feeling right now, I was just told 2023 that it will take 2-4 months to get a car ordered, I dont mind the wait.. figured I could “save a payment” each month until it comes towards a down payment.

    I special ordered my STI and had it delivered to NC. Took 4 months but was definitely worth it.

    I would much rather wait a few months while my vehicle is being built to my own specifications than to buy something I won’t be completely satisfied with. That wait time would be so worth it.

    I used to be a car salesman just for new VW's out here in Germany. I would guess around 95% of all cars I sold were ordered. And that is pretty normal out here. Delivery was most of the time at the VW HQ so I didn't had to explain the car 😁. That was also a lot cheaper than the delivery costs to the dealer.

    Agree with, the dealer will try to find a car that matches close to what you want. If you want white the dealer will ask what other colors you will take. Also they go out 100 miles, 300 miles and then 500 miles to find you a car. This has happened to me about a dozen times. They always got me a vehicle I liked enough to buy it.

    i ordered my new car and it allowed my bank account to grow more for when i take money out for my down payment. I didn’t mind the 3 month wait, it was worth it in the end :)

    If you want an unusual color such as purple or neon lime green you should special order.

    The rebate risk is a two-edged sword. I waited until $500 rebates kicked in before custom ordering my '01 Focus. During the six-week wait time, nationwide rebates were revised to $1000, and my zipcode qualified for an additional $500 rebate associated with Tropical Storm Allison, which flooded some 80,000 cars. I'm still driving my canary yellow Focus, equipped with premium package (low profile tires, AC & nicer upholstery), sunroof, and then-rare ABS and side airbags, ordered a la carte. I also saved $750 by taking a pass on power locks, windows & mirrors.

    There used to be a time when the only way you could special order a BMW was to go to the German factory and write out your specs in German.

    The big three are uninterested in special ordering anything in Las Vegas Nevada ( at least the dealerships aren’t interested ) they are MSRP plus window tint plus lug nut locks plus door jam protector plus whatever they can think of and then add anywhere between 5 and $25,000 adjusted market value… take it or leave it

  • @mydsmber05

    For the European marques they all do special orders with the exception of Volkswagen. In fact until recently you could special order most European brands and do factory delivery. It’s the Japanese companies where you are subject to whatever is in the pipeline.

    It's nearly impossible to find the vehicle that has the exact options that you want. The way I see it.....WHY NOT factory order? I test drove a Z71 the other day....821 miles on this supposed "new" vehicle. And definitive brake noise every time I put my foot on the brake pedal. Why buy a "new" car with 10-15 (minimum) test drives on it? And test drives are HARD drives. I'd gladly pay a little more for a never driven, factory new vehicle. Any comments?

      Alot of dealerships require you to put down a nonrefundable deposit you can use it to purchase another vehicle if you don’t like that one but you don’t get your money back if you change your mind.

    Can you order a vehicle from the manufacturer and lease that vehicle oppose to buying it????

  • @revilsdr
    @revilsdr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just not something I feel comfortable doing especially because they cannot give you any more than just a guesstimate of when the vehicle might be produced. Many dealerships are requiring nonrefundable deposits now they can only be used to buy another brand specific vehicle if you change your mind or cancel the order. Some brands are locking in interest rates and incentives for 90 days but majority of these vehicles are taking longer than that to actually arrive. I have a friend that was told two months delivery she’s still waiting seven months later.

    I special ordered a Toyota Tacoma from the dealership it went rather smooth. Only took weeks for delivery and I did not have to put a down payment down because the dealership knew that the truck I ordered was a hot selling truck. If I did not buy it someone else was going to buy it. I plan to do the same thing when I order a brand new 2023 tundra only this time I may order it from the factory and drive down to pick it up
