Hey all! Plain and simple, we want to get you your vehicle right away! But as you can see after watching this video, the process is not so simple and guaranteed right now. If you are still waiting for your toyota. Let us know in the comments below how it’s going!

The Toyota dealership allocation you mentioned that happens mid-month... is that every month of the year at mid-month? Is that just for your dealership, or is that for all of Canada, or is that for all dealerships in general including the USA? Thanks very much for the video.

Thanks for your reply! It’s very discouraging right now! My dealership in BC said they’re getting some Rav hybrids in Dec, but no limited. So I know it will be sometime in 2022. Ordered in August.
I did mention I’m flexible on colour, but really want the blueprint with tan interior! Wish limited came in that Calgary Blue or Lunar rock!

Now several of the dealership's actions and salesperson's comments begin to make sense within the context of what you have explained. Super helpful to a would-be buyer. Thank you!

@ToyotaWorld Has Toyota stopped accepting "Sold Order Requests" I have asked several dealers and they keep answering that not Taking Orders. But are not taking custom Orders different than Order requests.
Thinking there is little chance of getting the Toyota I want. Trying to understand options available to customers in 2023.

As a first time buyer, after researching and deciding on the Corolla, when I used to check the inventory near me, I constantly wondered that why are cars whose sale is pending arriving/getting built/in transit? Like for whom are they coming if they aren't booked by anyone? and how can the dealership predict what a customer wants?
So now after booking it at Golling Toyota and watching your video, I understood that you guys first match up all the orders to the allocated cars and if there are any left, you guys configure them in basic trims(LE) and with basic accessories like mouldings, mudguards etc, and then when a customer who wants an LE arrives he/she is convinced by the fact that first the car will arrive earlier than if he places an sole order, and that paying a little more than the base price for the accessories since they are cheaper if you buy them after the car at a service center is just alright.
    Thanks for the video!

Method 4 is the slowest for you to get paid. It is thus no surprise that method is your least desired. And your concept for flexibility is for the customer to pay for add ons not wanted as you get paid faster. In all my future new car buys with Toyota I think I will place my checkbook before yours and special order what I want. I have wasted money for decades buying stuff I neither wanted nor desired.

I so agree with being flexible. I have a 2023 Venza Limited coming but I wanted the gray interior but he was like I have a black interior one coming. I was like fine as long as the exterior is the color I asked for. So he's happy as well as myself.

Wow that's all pretty appalling. I've been having an awful experience trying to order a car from Toyota and now it totally makes sense why. Imagine if Toyota was operating a restaurant....
Customer: Hey I'd like to order a pizza
Toyota: Sure no problem! Just have a seat and maybe incidentally well make the one you wanted!
Customer: Ummm ok.... Well like what about that one? That's exactly what I wanted?
Toyota: Oh sorry I know you have been waiting and already have a deposit down but that's allocated to another restaurant!
Customer: Well can't I just buy it from the other restaurant?
Toyota: Haha oh that's a good one! I mean we can try to contact them to trade a calzone and maybe some bread sticks so we can get it for you but that probably wont happen.
Customer: Well what is it exactly I'm supposed to do?
Toyota: I'm so glad you ask! We don't have the pizza you wanted but maybe we can interest you in a peanut butter sandwich?
    Customer: I'm allergic to nuts.....
Toyota: Well hey gotta be flexible! I mean it's not like your spending $30-60 thousand dollars, almost a full years income after taxes, on something you'll have to live with for the next ten years!
Customer: Look I've been waiting and waiting. I'm literally starving. Do you have any news on that pizza?
Toyota: Ah geeze were so sorry! It looks like were not going to be able to get that pizza you wanted after all! This model year has ended but we can resubmit a new order for this year! Did I mention our restaurant has the largest inventory in the state and priority allocation?
Literally none of this makes sense. Two years ago I special ordered a car from Dodge. In one week I had a vin number assigned. 5-6 weeks after that the actual car was delivered exactly to my spec. My name was even on the window sticker. I laugh in hindsight how they told me they could order the car but warned it could be a while! I asked like how long? They said something like "Well I mean we try to get cars as fast as we can and it depends on options but it's typically it's 6 weeks but could even be up to two months!" Ha! During the process I could even get in touch with customer service and they could tell me day by day where my car was. It's in cue for assembly, today it's in paint, it's out for the optional factory installation, it's being loaded on the train.... How is it that a company as crappy at building cars as Dodge is can build cars that people want but Toyota can't?

Great video. You earned a sub. I'm in the market and looking for a 4 runner trd pro and was wondering about factory orders, how long, etc but was dreading visiting dealerships. Your video and some of the comments, along with your responses, answered some questions for me. I know what i want and what options i want. I hope i don't run into a dealer with a "market adjustment" on their vehicles. If i do, i'll be turning right around or not visiting at all. I'm seeing some online for 10k above msrp. Absolutely ridiculous. Fortunately, it is a want and not a need at this time.

can you expand on what you mean by 'sold order request' how can you sell a vehicle before it has a vin assigned, did you mean that the customer puts down a deposit and orders the car and the sale papers are signed when the car arrives and that's when the car is officially sold?

So what would you say to an order being placed in early May of 2022 for a Sienna XLE, dark grey, with no add-ons, that still hasn’t been delivered, January, 10, 2024. We are even on a waiting list for Sienna’s, one model up or down, that were ordered and the buyer couldn’t wait, the dealership still brings it in and we have the possibility of purchasing that vehicle…….that hasn’t happened either! The same dealership has posted a 2022 Sienna XLE with over 15,000 km, I am in Canada, for over $65,000.00, almost $15,000.00 over the price of that van brand new! This is very crooked by Toyota and is taking advantage of availability and impatient buyers. So why have they cut back production, did you say? The demand is there I am looking forward to your answer.

Question: the dealership I put my deposit on said my order was accepted by the manufacturer and it could take about 6 mos. While looking at the manufacturers site, it's showing in another state a dealership that are getting at least 10 per dealership and the place I ordered mine isn't getting any. Does this mean I should not have left my non ref deposit with this co. Since they aren't getting any any time soon?

Here is how you 'order' your next vehicle: Go to a Toyota dealership and place your order on what you want and prepare yourself to wait 2 years. Then go across the street to a Honda, Mazda, or Subaru dealership and buy a similar vehicle the very same day, as they have lots of inventory of new vehicles to choose from.

Don't know if its a loophole or not, but I ordered my Highlander and was told it would be at least a 6 Month wait. Had a Nice Blueprint XSE picked out and I didn't mind waiting the 6 months, so I told my sales advisor to go ahead and order it. A few days later he called me and told me that his boss actually had Ruby Flare XSE ordered and it was due in about 2-3 months, and that if I wanted I could have that one. Of course I jumped on that and said YES! picked it up about 2 and a half months later! Not sure if a manager or a sales advisor has a vehicle ordered and a customer wants one they have to give up theirs or not? Or maybe he/she was just being nice.

I'm watching this video 2 years after you recorded it -- December 2023 -- and I currently have a 2022 SUV that the lease ends mid-October 2024. The vehicle I want to buy/lease (not sure which yet) will hopefully be a 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid XSE in red or blue (one-tone paint). Since I won't take delivery until next fall, I am planning on starting my dealership run in late May 2024. My question is "too soon, too late" to get it factory ordered for an October delivery? Of course, I know I want a very popular vehicle (next to the Prius Prime and RAV 4 Hybrid) and I'm hoping that my salesman (already purchased from them a 2023 Camry XLE AWD using Option 4 by the way) will work with me and not do above MSRP and other criminal markups next year as I'm reading that Toyota Dealerships are losing customers over this awful practice. Again, great channel and I look forward to more Toyota news and tips. Side note: My 2022 SUV was taken delivery on October 2021 and it was the ONLY model in my color and upgrade model for 50 miles (middle of the pandemic). I rushed to the dealership to put down my $100 deposit to hold the vehicle as even with the "SOLD" sign on the windshield, other customers were trying to outbid me for the car. Luckily, I got it and love it but ready to jump into the Hybrid pool for my next vehicle.

I am asking for the Highlander Hybrid with the options that I need, not what Toyota allocates. I am willing to wait as long as I know that I will get it.
Do US dealers don’t want to bother because they sell anything they get?

How about when you order a new vehicle with a deposit. You are told that your order was the first 1 to be ordered for that year and color. Then you get a phone call 9 months later from the sales manager asking if you still want the vehicle because they have another costumer looking for the same as yours. You tell them yes you still want the vehicle. They say ok your vehicle will be here by this date. Then the vehicle shows up and some how it’s not yours because someone order before you. What would you say about that scenario?

Hi Marcelo. I live in California and I want to factory order a car. However, most dealers have been telling me that they do not factory order at this time for customers. We have had the chip shortage for more than a year. How was it that factory ordering was possible in 2021 but it's currently not available? Out of about 8 dealerships that I have contacted, only one dealership who say that they will see if the manufacturer will be able to give them a slot (I don't remember the terminology they used) to order the car I want. Does this situation depend on the state or country? Thank you.

Informative, but I have one question. If it is a ‘sold order request’ for a RAV4 Hybrid, will Toyota Canada honour the price (ordering date MSRP) at which the customer signed with the dealer? Say, if the order from 2021 ends up being delivered into 2022, would Toyota change the price based on the then prevailing MSRP at the time of delivery? Would appreciate it if you could explain how that works.

    • @ToyotaWorld

Pricing is worked out with dealer. The only time there is a guarantee on pricing from toyota head office is if you bought a 2021 and ordered it and did not take delivery yet because vehicle didn’t arrive yet and toyota increased the prices of the 2021 by let’s say $300. Then you would be protected. But regarding price increases or changes on new released models, no.

This reminds me of happy times earlier in 2021 when I ordered my 2021 Corolla L manual in black sand pearl. Only way you can get the 1.8 and a 6 speed. Doesn’t have the iMT like the 2.0. I I have a thing for base model cars so I ordered this one through my good friend/salesman at Collingwood Toyota. I can’t remember if he traded incoming vehicles with another dealer or whether it had to be put in as a sold order request but it took about 6-8 weeks to arrive in June 2021. I like being different.
Marcello have you sold any Corolla L manuals?

Also if I am planning to trade in my vehicle, does the appraisal keep its value till delivery of the new vehicle or I have to do another appraisal during delivery? I would guess it would take few months for a new 4runner.

I posted a question but it disappeared. I wanted to know what the difference in delivery is between me making a factory order and dealerships getting random mont hly allocation? Which does Toyota place priority on, filling specific order or general dealerships allocation?

    • @ToyotaWorld
      @ToyotaWorld  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hey sorry I had to re edit the video and took the original down. So all comments went away. With hybrids, it’s always a factory order. As toyota does not really allocate us random hybrid stock until they see what our hybrid sold orders are. Then from there they do their best to fill them.

Hey, I ordered a 2022 toyota camry xse hybrid out in richmond hill toyota on november 27, 2021.. they allocated a vehicle mid january, and sent me an email with eta feb 25- march 4.. that was pushed forward to march 25-april 4.. than again was pushed forward another week to april 1-11th.. i called them around march 21 to see if the ETA remains the same they told me yes it still has the ETA for april 1-11th so i waited it out and called again mid week when my vehicle was suppose to arrive on april 6th, they told me that it had been pushed forward to april 25-29, and that the status had changed from in production to in transit, when i asked for the VIN # they did not have it. My question is am I close to getting the vehicle or can it get pushed forward couple more months, kind of urgently need a car now for work now that i have to go back in office. also if its in transit where is the camry being transported from and how come there is no vin number for the vehicle if it has already been built and in transit.

I recently went in to Toyota dealer to purchase a Corolla cross and eveything was looking good, but the dealership kept telling me that the Dent repair coverage and ceramic coating are mandatory options that I had to pay for which were adding close to $6,000 to our final purchase. Is that Toyota wide thing going on where dealers are adding these options or do you think that was that just the dealership just trying add additional charges ?

I’m asking because my bank said my approval only lasts 90 days. So if the car takes longer than 3 months to arrive then I have to re apply!

I expected it would have to be built so I have tried to be patient.
Since then, in June they said "we did not get on in the allocation" and said the same thing in July.
They have never even mentioned filing a "sold order request".
It seems like they are wasting our time rolling the dice on the allocation rather than filing a sold order request.

this system is extremely broken, and redundant. so basically, the only way to get a car is to put in a request to ask toyota to build you a car, so they can build a car, spend thousands delivering it to the dealership, then mark up the price by 15% above MSRP.
why do dealerships actually exist at this point? this entire process can be done without you guys. customers could submit orders to toyota. toyota could ship it to my house. the cost of shipping a single car to a single house is STILL cheaper than the 15% markup + delivery fees of a dealership. this makes absolutely no sense.
how does it feel to be a useless parasite in a broken system?
