Another great review video, Steve. I have one Herpstat 1, which I do love, 3 Hydrofarm Jumpstarts from Amazon which are similar to the Century (but sadly have gone up in price since I first started using them). I use thermometer probes to crosscheck all of them as well as my temp gun. The Jumpstarts do just fine. Mine thermostats are all on UTHs since I keep colubrids. People should not hate on the Century. Many of us are successfully using that basic style of thermostat on our snakes. Facebook sure is a cesspool sometimes. Thank goodness that you are willing to speak out and give honest assessments.
VE 200 here also and no issues. I am needing to change cage setups and will definitely look at the Century Thermostat on my new setups. Great video as always. Thanks.
Nice Video! I use VE-300 with a Pro Panel RHP for my 4X2 - works great so far but prob too much thermostat for what I needed. For new setup, I now use the Eco Terra 600W (39.99)- digital thermostat -accurate- small black box and looks great.
Just did my first enclosure. Wish i saw this first but what is done is done. I bought the EV-300 for an 80w pannel in a 4x2x2. If it dosent last i know what to replace it with.
Good videos Steve. I have 2 herpstats and I love them but ever since I discovered the century one from amazon that’s all I buy lol. They work great and I can buy as many as I want for $20 a pop without the wife getting pissed off lol
No hate here! I do have a ve 200 and I've used it in my rack when I have young snakes in it, but I havent used it enough to have any issues with it, but I have my snake room set up with room heat and humidity, and everyone is happy and healthy. it works for me and my snakes. I check temps daily, and everyone is good. We have used the horticultural thermostats with good luck. We do like them also.
I use a freedom breeder thermostat it's a double one can use on 2 cages it's awesome so far think I paid 175. 10 foot probe can change night time with no extra things but it's pretty good
Thank you for bringing this to people's attention. I didn't even know these existed before reading your comment and they definitely look better than the VE or Herpstat thermostats, although, I do like the dimming capabilities of the Herpstat 2.
Great video.. I bought two of the century thermostat to have as back up an to add to as my collection grows. $2000 is big chunk of change an herpstats aren't fail proof they do fail maybe not as likely as vivarium types .. Helix's are great I have one that I bought 14 years ago an still works...
I love the Helix. Maybe one day when I downsize I will convert to them, would be hard to justify when the Centuries do a great job. Thanks for the input, William.
great channel I'm glad I found it. maybe you could do a video on the incubator you have. or maybe you already did and I haven't found it yet. thanks for sharing
So glad I found your channel and I had a request of a video I want to get a heat panel for my custom cage but don’t know where to get the heat panel from
Hey Jacky, thanks for watching. If you watch most of my videos, you will see that I use ProProduct Radient Heat Panels on all of my enclosures. www.pro-products.com. If you give him a call, he will ask you a few questions and set you up with the best heat panel for your enclosure. It is the only heat panel that I recommend.
Basically, the screen zeroed out, was easy to reset, just unplug for 30 seconds then plug back in and it was fine. But at $20, I just went ahead and replaced. Kept it for a spare.
I've got 2 questions, what heat source do you use? Belly heat, ceramic bulbs, etc..? Looking at Animal plastics for my future snakes, 3 of my current snakes are all set for their life. My boa will need a new tank eventually. My only struggle / worry is keeping humidity up (especially for my GTP), do these tanks hold humidity up well, which is why i ask about the heat source as that will usually dehumidify my current enclosures a lot, i use bulbs for heat and heat matt's under my water bowl specifically for humidity, im nearly out of outlets to use and thats a problem lol. Thank you!
PVC enclosures hold humidity perfectly. I use ProProducts Radient Heat Panels on all of my enclosures. For a GTP, I would use the coconut husk or a jungle mix, place the water bowl under the panel and do an ocassional misting and it will be perfect.
Don't know why people do that to people if it works for that person who cares what they use..... If that's how they do it just don't hate be happy they are in the hobby and share experiences.... Doesn't matter how much you spend..... "on certain things "
Probably to late to give any meaningful input but just in case someone else is looking for the answer to this question I'll leave my thoughts on the Inkbird hot/cold thermostats. In short, they are slightly more accurate and have more features than the basic $17-$25 thermostats you can purchase on Amazon. I owned 2 of them for about a year and loved them for their sensor calibration, on/off parameters that allow you to set a range of 1-3 degrees above or below the set temperature, and the dual lcd screens that would show what temperature the probe was reading and what you had it set for. What I didn't like was how rigid the probe cords were and how they absolutely screeched with EMF noise when powered. The EMF noise might not bother someone with middle of the line hearing, but for someone like me, who can still hear the screech of a CRT screen and USB chargers powering phones, it was to much and caused migraines. I replaced my Inkbirds with iPower (different name, but pretty much the same as Century) thermostats and haven't looked back. Sure they may not be as accurate and they have a set on/off differential of + or - 3 degrees, but they are cheaper and I can't hear them working from a separate room (or even in the same room).

11 enclosures and century on all of them.. may have to adjust 2 degrees here and there, thts it. Work awesome in my AP cages with pro produce

Thanks for the video! One last question, when your centuries failed, did they fail in the on or off mode?

Glad I came across your channel love it! Do you sell these enclosures?
Welcome Aboard Jerry. Unfortunately, I just build for my own use. But lucky for you, they are a breeze to build. 😁😉
