- Today we moved into our brand new apartment here in Chiang Mai, Thailand. We made the decision to go for Luxury Huey Kaew as if we go for the 3 month lease the price drops from 15,000 baht to 13,000 baht. In comparison with the other apartments we looked at for that price, this clearly offers the most value for money!

You're welcome. Definitely see why you chose there with cost of living. Those are awesomely insane rents. Obviously I need much bigger raising a large family, but to put into perspective, googled my mortgage with USD to baht exchange. I haven't had a house payment less that 126,000 baht (over $3600USD) a month since 2005...not including any utilities. It would be more if I rented now. My daughter looked at 1 bedrooms around here recently with starting college locally in fall, and cheapest was $1650 (about 58k baht). Need to go cry now lol. ;)

👍 Nice choice. Is the rent paid in cash or on credit card? Do you get the security deposit back when you leave? Just thinking through how you have to go to the bank & exchange your money for baht / THB & then pay? (Do you have to carry lots of cash / baht around?)

Please try using reusable bags when shopping. This is especially important in countries such as Thailand where recycling isn't as readily available. Not to mention that it is surrounded by the ocean, and a lot of that plastic will end up in it.
For sure! Thailand uses so much plastic it's horrible! We re-use all of our plastic bags that we get but we want to get some canvas bags soon for shopping :) Our apartment also recycles which is a plus!

This apartment looks amazing!! I'm starting off with the travel vlog and I only do one (maybe two) a week, how do you manage to do one a day!! I like this style where you record throughout the day. I'm moving to more of that style I think. Would love to hear feedback!

Palm sugar maybe? We used it in a thai cooking class, you can get it wet (like peanut butter) or dry (like brown sugar).

I know I didn't get it right - but technically - TECHNICALLY - I hit the nail, cause you did say you loved Pansook 2 and Dome - but in my defense, your first vid on this apartment, Huay Kuewy or whatever, was not as revealing/informational as this one, so the feeling you got was not the feeling I got, so hence it looks like I didn't win all the prizes, beacuse Huewy Kuewy or whatever was the choice, but I feel morally victorious - enjoy......:-).......Scotty - Gym - 24/7........:-)

@Hi Wanderlust Estate! I just watched one of your videos and it really looks like a lot of fun!!! When I see all you professional vloggers travelling to so many wonderful places, I wish I could figure out how you get the money to do it?? I really want to go back to Europe, especially Italy and travel around like you do, but by bus and/or train and give great money saving tips and of course talk about my many "only could happen to me" moments! The problem is I don't even have the airfare to get back to Europe and I am on a very small pension. Do you have any suggestions?? Thank you for being so kind. People I know in my country struggle to get apartments after high school working two job and not traveling.
That is the norm for Western folks. I'm sure if you are earning the same wages as those Thai workers you would have a large difficulty as well.

Hi, I really enjoyed watching your videos. I have been watching for about a year or two, but under my real name. I just started this new travel vlog and I would love it if you could take a look at it. It's kind of odd, bizarre, informative, amusing and kooky. I really like your vlogs for those same reasons, plus you remind me of a younger version of myself. I hope you will take a look at my vlogs. The first one explains why I took my trip and the reason I decided to share my experiences with the public. It was meant to be very cathartic and it was. The name of it is, "Sad goodbye, but now happy hello to you! Also way to save big money in Rome!" I respect your opinion very much, mainly because, though you're kind of kooky, I can tell you are also very interesting and intelligent, qualities I have also been told (or accused) of having! That always happens in tourist areas. It even goes on in Florida. You have to negotiate hard when you are overseas like that. It's just the way it is.

Hey! I don't know of any websites, it's hard to find somewhere before you come as the culture is "turn up, move in" on the same day. $1,000 per month! You could get a massive house with that kind of budget. Seriously! AC is common everywhere here. You need it! Chiang Mai isn't near a beach but it's only a cheap flight to the south of Thailand :)

I think that would be a great business for someone like you to have a website created for people like me who are older and don't have the energy to apartment hunt...especially if only really living there for 3 months for example. You could make deals with these apartment owners where you get referral bonuses plus of course earn with adsense on the site or affilaite links....just talking out loud here lol So don't mind me :) So what town would you say is nice, near the beach but not toooo touristy? Not sure how much you have been able to get around Thailand or how much you know about that. That would be interesting to know. Don't go out of your way. Can I ask what visa you're currently on in Thailand? I want to go over there for a year and possibly rent an apartment for a few months too but I couldn't be doing with the visa runs every 30 days on a VOA.
Just a tourist visa for 30 days. You can extend once for another 30 days but then you have to do a visa run. There are other visas which we may look into. I'll keep you posted!

Jaygee for speakers of other languages. I cannot follow spoken dialogue in Portuguese or even very well in Spanish, but put up a subtitle, and my tracking is 80% or better. Imagine learning American English and then trying to grasp spoken Queen's while still at B Level, even C.

I'm pretty sure mary from mantrasandmangos was staying here but it turn's out a bar down the street was too loud and the noise went on pretty much all night, they thought they would get used use to it but nope then end up leaving so maybe look into her channel bit and too see if its the same place, i can't remember the name of the place otherwise i wouldn't have given you guys a heads up (I'm pretty it's this place seeing as it pretty much looks the same)
Wouldn't that be a trip of it ended up being the exact same place that two bloggers independently ended up in. The chances of that statistically is very low.
actually it happens a lot more then you think with bloggers/youtubers, it has to be the same building cause it looks the same and has the same pool.
