"The storyline is the same, you start in New Bark Town, beat the Johto gyms and the Elite Four, then move on to Kanto and fight Red. However, I've added new Pokemon, new moves, new mechanics, new maps, new events, new trainers, new items, new bugs, and Red is not even the end of the game. I love how every gym leader have at least 1 johto pokemon in their team in this game. This should have been corrected in the remakes
Hot take: Gym leaders depending on the number of mons and the dex and their theme dont need to have their region mons

@@vard1865 True, tho I was kinda hoping they'd have them as well in their first battle. Just felt like the johto mons didnt get as much shine in their own gen considering most of the trainers you fight in the main campaign used too many pokemon from kanto
A Polished Version of every Sister game would be sick. Yellow and Crystal definitely needed it!
I recently played yellow for the first time & was blown away by how easy it was. Pikachu plus all 3 starters just given to you early game is too much. You add a Dragonite and a mewtwo and you have an unkillable team.
I actually think Yellow is harder since you have to deal with having a Pikachu on your team all the time. It ends up being a glass canon since most Pokémon can knock it out with a single attack

Dragonite requires too much training to be viable in gen 1 in game. When you get mewtwo the game is over. Dragonair does not evolve until level 55.
Starmie and Vaporeon are better than blastoise too. Pikachu learns thunderbolt naturally I’m Yellow as opposed to red/blue so you can give TM24 to Starmie instead.
In my most recent Yellow run my team was:
Pikachu
Charizard
Vaporeon
Venusaur
Kadabra
Dugtrio
Charizard isn’t even the best fire type, but it’s a better flyer than mf pidgeot.
Vaporeon is the best water type and probably the best eeveelution in gen 1. The point in the game in which you get it you can slap ice beam and bubble beam on it. Viable straight out the box.
Venusaur is bulky and can abuse the toxic+leech seed glitch. Also Venusaur is fast enough for razor leaf is auto-crit in gen 1
Kadabra is the real monster of gen 1. Alakazam is stronger, yes, but I didn’t have friends. Kadabra has base 120 special and 105 speed as a psychic type. That’s bonkers in gen 1 and on par with many fully evolved mons. Abra evolves at level 16 and just makes Kanto its bitch.
Dugtrio rips through Lt. Surge and is the best abuser of x-accuracy with fissure.
I should have replaced Pikachu with Zapdos, but then half of my team would be weak to ice. Fire doesn’t resist ice in gen 1. So Charizard is weak to ice beam 😂
Why those two specifically?
I’m so happy they gave Bugsy more Pokémon. A yanma is so nice to have. It was always a joke to have a metopod and kakuna lol. Especially when we know they both evolve at 10.

Bugsy’s Yanma is deadly too. With Sonicboom being an early game great move, Double team for annoying ass evasion, along with the Speed Boost ability making it faster every turn. It’s really quite the menace. I even tried bringing a Ghastly along to outplay his Sonicboom and he ends up having fucking Forsight on it.😂
While I like the additional Johto 'mons, I really like the Quality of Life improvements, like the "last mon sent out" jingle, the type-coloured indicators for a move and its physical/special/status type, and even that the game's not constantly like "ALL YOUR CAPS BELONG TO US".
It was so smart to show off the type changes intentionally with the moves that were used. Well done!
I love how fast-paced everything feels. I swear every little delay in-between actions been significantly shortened, from attack animations to user inputs.

Giving Bugsy Beedrill and Butterfree is how it should have been.
Metapod and Kakuna evolve at level 10.
Might’ve been to make it fair since Scyther’s pretty tough to deal with in the early game, but in that case give him Ledyba and Spinarak instead since they’re gen 2 Pokémon and wouldn’t have been much harder or easier than fighting metapod and kakuna
Falkner marks the moment I realized the anime took place in Johto. I never saw the opening and thought he was just another tough trainer Ash had to deal with. When I finally saw him earn the badge I was like, "oh"
Kanto and Johto had to be so similar...
I think that show how much Falkner is a joke in the game that he have two Pokémon that aren’t even above 10 levels.

I like that they removed the mention from Jasmine about how Steel-type Pokémon were a recent discovery just like the remakes did, because back then Pokémon lore wasn't as developed and in-universe, humans would've known Steel Pokémon for as long as they've known Pokémon in general.
I had played the earlier version and found it enjoyable, little difficult but not kaizo difficult which isn't a bad thing. Can't wait to test out this latest beta, gen 2 will always hold a special place in my heart due to the simplicity, two regions, and that crystal was my first pokemon game i ever played.
Whelp I'm enjoying it. Made it to the elite four and actually struggling a little bit 😅 even with mons in the mid to early sixties. Would totally recommend

This is interesting and something I'm sure every Johto player has dreamed of making. However it does need a bit more, well, polish before it can be considered finished.
I definitely think these changes are great. They could use a bit more improving, but they're still great.

I find it similar to some of mandjtv’s fixed teams for johto gym leaders
That was great. GSC were my favorite games, but I've always dreamed with some improvements on GYM leaders.

Once you got new evos in the game, I would set the gym leaders with:
Falkner - Pidgey, Spearow, Noctowl
Bugsy - Pineco, Ledian, Shuckle
Whitney - Jigglypuff, Sentret, Miltank
Morty - Gengar, Haunter, Mismagius
Chuck - just fine with Farfetch, Primeape, poliwrath and Hitmontop
Jasmine - just Skarmory, 2 Magneton and Steelix
Pryce - Dewgong, Sneasel, Delibird, Mamoswine
Clair - Dragonair, Yanmega, Lapras, Kingdra.

I have some recommendations for Johto Gym leader teams
- Falkner: Pidgey, HootHoot, Murkrow = Murkrow feels best as his ace. Since it has the base stats of a mid form Pokemon. I also think his ace should change depending on time of day, those could be his night team, his ace for the Morning/Day could be Natu, since Ruins of Alph is found South of Violet City.
-Bugsy: Pineco, Yanma, Heracross = My reason for this is that I chose the three bugs not represented in his gym or barely in game at all.
-Whitney: Honestly her team is fine, but if I wanted to add some Clefairy, Aipom, Miltank. Clefairy should stay the way its at, Aipom can learn Baton Pass early and its holy unrepresented, only seen by 1 trainer in Kanto. And Miltank is self explanatory.
-Morty: Haunter, Misdreavus, Gengar = I want Misdreavus to be his ace, because Diamond and Pearl made Mismagius Fantina's ace, even though she had a higher BST Gengar. Regardless Misdreavus is on the team. But since Platinum is the better game, we can make due with Gengar.
-Chuck: , Poliwrath, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Hitmontop = The Hitmons all got a baby form, so why not present that with Chuck, with Hitmontop being his ace since its a new Johto Mon? Poliwag also got Politoed, making Poliwag line have a new mon.
-Jasmine: Skarmory, Foretress, Magneton, Steelix = It's odd she never had a Steelix, since she's the one Steel type user in the game. In fact Skarmory is one of the only Johto mons not to be used by a trainer. But regardless, this makes the most sense for her team.
-Pryce: Jynx, Delibird, Sneasel, Dewgong, Piloswine = Jynx got a baby form in Smoochum, is a great lead and stops attempts of fighting types and so can Delibird for that matter. Delibird has the same BST as Seel, and while garbage it wouldn't make a difference any way. Sneaseal could use its speed to soften you with Screech or good physical damage, Dewgong could cover every weakness but fighting, and Piloswine makes sense as the ace.
-Clair = Lapras, Dragonair, Dragonair, Kingdra = Lapras is in the dragon egg group and is the best dragon themed mon I could give her without being too similar to Lance.
Jasmine had Steelix. 2 Magneton and Steelix.

@@Surgemaster2012 Idk about that chuck team tbh. I think is a bit weird. If you gave him heracross, it would make bugsy feel less special but there's a simple fix. Give bugsy an ariados for his ace. Yes it kinda sucks but chuck should have a heracross. I'm thinking hitmontop, poliwrath, primeape, heracross. I think giving him all the hitmons is more of bruno's thing. You could also give jasmine a scizor instead of forretress since its weird she has 3 bulky steel types so spice it up and give her a scizor, a good offensive mon. I think you could give clair a gyarados. It would make her team similar to lance but its lance's lead mon, so its not as bad. Giving her charizard or aerodactyl imo is something unique to lance

One thing I don’t like about the OG Pokémon GSC is it introduces so many new Pokémon and yet they don’t use them. A lot of the new Pokémon you can’t even get until after you beat the game.
Because Pokémon was viewed as a one hit wonder back in 1998 and Nintendo was rightfully afraid fans would not like the new designs

If I remember correctly, there's a strict limit on move slots/Pokemon slots in the gen 2 games, so redundant moves were taken out to make room for new ones.

How do you find items for new evolutions? I know about stealing Metal Coats and King's Rocks from Magnemites and Slowpokes respectively, but what about Quick Claw and stones to elolve Murkrow or Togetic? Is it NPC phone calls again? Oh yeah, and Alolan forms. I've only seen Vulpix and Ninetales in Ice Path.
It would really help to have an actual wiki for this mod, as movesets and stats are different. Some changes are noted, like pokemon and move types, moves power, but sometimes it's not enough.

Good luck. Highly recommend looking up the level jumps per area, not just for leaders. The game is still in beta and you can get wiped very easily just by wandering too far from the intended path. Early game is really rough too if you just miss out on certain encounters.

I love this!! These were teams that the gen 2 leaders deserved! They had Pokémon introduced in gen 2 and showed off more underused Pokémon in the games we rarely got to see such as Whitney using Teddiursa
I have a doubt about something, i'm trying to play Pokemon Coral on my 3DS (Demo is out now), and it seems the VC doesn't suppoet MBC30 mapper to show the right cries of pokemons from Gen 3 - 7 ;T

I love how there is type diversity here! The HootHoot line got a lot of love! And Chuck with a Farfechd was really funny! I didn't like how they just gave Jasmine every strong Steel-type in the game... I prefer repeats of pokemon as it's become common and brainless now to use the strongest pokemon due to competitive. Again, what I like, is that they implied Ampharous and Yanmega are dragons! And gave the Johto leaders more JOHTO POKEMON! Overall cool game!

I don't why some moves are super effective when they're not suppose to be. I think the Pokemons' typings got a little changed.
Some typings was changed in the standard version. There is also a faithful version if you dislike these changes
I thought these are generally good changes that make traditionally bad mons more interesting. Also he spiced up the starters with a second typing:
Noctowl = flying/ghost
Butterfree = bug/psychic
Ninetales = fire/ghost
Ariados = bug/dark
Farfetched = flying/fight
Feraligatr = water/dark
Typhlosion = fire/ground
Meganium = grass/fairy
The faithful version isn't intended to be balanced I wouldnt recommended playing it unless you like extra difficulty

There is a "patch" for those games named Sacred Gold/ Storm Silver. It tweaks some things from those games to make them more challenging than the originals

Speaking of Ghost and Dragon Types, what if Gen 2 had more of them? By retyping some existing ones. The Hoot-Hoot and Spinarak lines should've been part Ghost Types. While Slowking, Ampharos, Yanma, and Dunsparce should've been part Dragon Types. Also, the scrapped Ghost mons, Kurstraw and Pangshi should've been in the final games. While Regional Variants should've existed sooner in Gen 2. With Johtonian Gyarados & Arbok being Flying/Dragon and Poison/Dragon.
Never thought about Slowking getting the dragon type before, dragon psychic would be crazy in gen 2
Maybe a unpopular opinion but some gym leader team should have been modified :
- Morty doesn't need Noctowl
- Chuck doesn't need farfetch'd
- Yanmega and Ampharos are wasted in Clair Team
Since i saw 4g Pokemon, i assume 3g and 4g are present so there are tons of options instead of using randoms pokemons which doesn't match trainer type or be really useful to the gym leader.
Like :
- Add Spiritomb or Sableye to Morty team Immunity to Psy move
- Add Hariyama to Chuck Team, seem great on his team
- Add Altaria and a second Dragonair to Clair team, she like beautiful pokemon, not ugly Yanmega, that's also why a Flygon/Drattack or a Garchomp would be bad on her team
Otherwise, some change are cool, like adding Skarmory and Scizor to Jasmine team or Mamoswine and Lapras to Pryce Team.
Hi, just to give you info about this rom, theres only 4g evos, regional forms of gen 1/2 (not Hisui, only Alolan and Galarian) and none 3g or 4g pokemon (no luxray, zigzagon, etc) and those pokemon you mentioned have his type changed to the leader: yanmega Is bug/dragon and farfecth Is flying/fighting for example. Also, they all have even better teams in their rematches. Really good hack rom, you should give it a try (i just beat the johto league a couple minutes ago) ✌️

I asqume it's because Yanmega is a dragonfly and Ampharos is named "Electric dragon" in japanese

No, because those are some of the changes the romhack made. In this case, Noctowl and Farfetch'd being part-Ghost and -Fighting respectively.

Flying: Skarmory and Hoothoot
Bug: Yanma, Spinarak, Ledyba
Normal: Aipom, Teddiursa, Furret, Miltank
Ghost: Misdreavus, Mismagius, Haunter, Gengar
Fighting: Poliwrath, Primeape, Heracross, Hitmontop
Steel: Scizor, Forretress, Magneton, Steelix
Ice: Dewgong, Jynx, Sneasel, Delibird, Piloswine
Dragon: Gyarados, Dragonair, Seadra, Kingdra
Unfortunately for two of them there's not much you can do lol.
