You're welcome Dylan I'm just glad you will play it out and spread the joy and gift of music to people ! Oh, and one more thing back stage passes for life !
Thanks Jeff!! Of course man, all the backstage passes you want hahah 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Cool move Jeff. We will now enjoy this beautiful Les Paul together.
The music community needs more people like Jeff…A person who truly appreciates the craft and artistry. Music is powerful…WHAT!!!…
It's not often you can do something that brings someone so much joy. That was such a great thing you did.
I have a feeling Duane is looking down, tapping his foot, with a huge smile.
October 15 , 1971 . The Allman Brothers played at the Syria Mosque in Pittsburgh . Pa . Two bucks to get in . Duane played slide on the S.G. L.P . He played a burst later on . Dicky had a gold top . They played the Fillmore set and did Revival for the encore . They smoked . Days later and he was gone . Best two bucks I ever spent .
Couldn’t think of someone more deserving of this guitar! You own the guitar man, I mean you most deserve it
such a lovely LP.
Filmore is my favorite recording of all time and I'm older than dirt. Congrats Dylan, well deserved brother
So, in your opinion - you, who I think is the most creative slide player on the planet today, I heard the greatest rock show of all time - Allman Brothers at O'Shaunessy Auditorium in St Paul in March, 1971, in which they played virtually the same show they did at the Fillmore East. Took my wife to it (married 50 years now) on our first date. She still doesn't like me to play amplified if she is in the house :-) I had heard Duane on the Herbie Mann album and had to see Duane live.
Jeff, what a beautiful thing you did man. And for such a deserving player. Now all of us will get to revel in the beautiful sound of this guitar. Thank you!
Very nice and respectful to the Sky dog young man. This was the music of my youth. God bless Dwayne
Dwayne is a rapper
Studied Duane for thousands of hours over 50 years and you definitely have “it”. Thanks so much.
Dude, absolutely stellar slide playing! I have not heard a more pleasing reference of Duane's playing, bar none.
Dylan, nice Mountain Jam work...one of the most inspirational Duane pieces...he transcends this plane....and will never forget the first time I listened to Fillmore...changed my life...
Absolutely agree, that Fillmore is the very best live album ever. Congrats on the new Paul
August of 1971 saw the ABB at the Santa Monica Civic. Cheech and Chong opened followed by Cowboy, and then the ABB. They were the first band that really rocked my soul.
I’ve owned the album, my friend owned the 8 track, I’ve owned the cassette, the CD, and digital downloads of Live at Fillmore East. It’s been my favorite album of all albums since the 70s when I first heard it.
You’re the closest to Duane’s sound and playing style than anyone I’ve heard - nice work.
Dylan you are so extremely blessed. You are a young man who wasn’t born yet when he was alive. For someone like me who was alive and following the Allman Brothers. It would be like holding the history of what I grew up with. I can’t play like you do but I play with more feeling than most guitarists ever could. That’s the way Dwayne played. It doesn’t matter how fast you can play if people can’t feel what you play there’s no point in playing at all. Your slide playing is awesome by the way. Anyway what I was trying to say is, I feel blessed to be able to that way and having a guitar like that would be a dream come true. Keep it real brother.
Live at the fillmore east. I bought my record in 1974. Best live record ever !!!
What a wicked flame! Sitting in your lap straight to the camera it almost looks like a gold top (or just a fairly standard light tobacco burst). Then you pick it up and the light hits that top differently and it's like the tiger jumps out. Sweet guitar and awesome playing as always.
Right! I love that aspect of it, the top looks a little plain/unassuming a lot of the time, but in certain lighting that flame goes BAM. And thanks!!
I am so happy for you to have this. I know how it feels to have just the magically correct guitar under your hands. It’s a lifetime of stories just beginning. Just keep going. You will have your own passionate students, inspired by you, and a tribute to your own untainted passion. It has often been said that if you want to be a guitar player, don’t. It’s too hard. Unless you have to. Here’s to all of us who have to. Thanks.
I would love a five watt world x dylan collab on the guitars and history of duane allman!
That would be awesome! Love his videos
Awesome, your story is getting more and more amazing
My mom and dad were at the hospital in Macon when Duane was hit and brought in. I wish he was still here to be able to listen to you play.
Amazing & the only LP which is exempt from having the pick guard. Good Lord, that top is the best top I've ever seen on an LP
Meant to be. Glad you found the one!
Good on Jeff. I was selling a guitar a few years ago that had some personal bad mojo to it. I was offering to give a portion of the proceeds to charity to put something good back in the world. A real good guy stepped up and offered me a trade for a beautiful 65' SG Jr. He said enjoy the guitar and if you sell it, give this agreed percentage to charity. I fell in love with the guitar, agreed to his terms, then sold off something else so i could donate somewhere in the gentleman's name. The story of the instrument is sometimes just as important as the instrument itself. That LP is in good hands.
amazing slide playing!!
Great stories and congratulations!
Congrats!! Happy pickin!
Congratulations!
Outstanding - stoked for ya, bud!
Sounds Great, Congrats!
Congratulations! Looking forward to hearing it more in the future.
Agree , about Fillmore Too , can’t wait for your history of Skydogs guitars .
It looks beautiful. Congratulations.
your playing is fantastic dude
This is great. Love the channel and you're playing!
What a wonderful gesture! Well done Jeff.
Beautiful instrument!! Congratulations, Dylan!!!♥
I loved how the flame in the video only came and went when you tilted it. Gorgeous.
Congratulations! You sound awesome playing it.
Congrats man! I love to hear stories like this. Slide on 🤙🏼
When I was in high school, my sister had a boyfriend who was a musician. He and my sister would go up to Macon, Georgia, and hang out with the Brothers at the Big House! Back then I knew who the Allman Brothers were and liked them. The first album I ever bought with money I earned at my first job was "Beginnings" the album that was a combination of their first album and their second, "Idlewild South". I played it to death! lol. They didn't tell me when they went because my sister knew that I would want to skip school and go with them, and she didn't want her little brother hanging around with them because she and her boyfriend smoked pot and she knew our Mother would be royally pissed if she found out that I was involved with that. I wish they had told me then, that would have been awesome to go up there and hang out!
Stoked for you Dude! That is soooo rad! That bridge pickup sings!
I'm so jealous! I'm 58, still playing but all of my old gear is gone. And I could never afford to replace it nowadays. That is surely one beautiful Les Paul! Good luck with it, it's definitely a keeper! 👍✌
I just turned 59 and I know that feeling. Back in the late 90's I went through a nasty divorce and sold all my gear. My 1960 Ampeg B15-XY, gone. My 1985 Carvin DC150, gone. My 1988 Hamer Chaparral Custom, gone. I picked up a Fender Stratocaster and eventually, a Fender Mustang III. I still have the Fender but it's always a work in progress. The Stratocaster I picked up from a friend that was getting married and needed the money, $250. Then one day I was checking out used guitars and found a Les Paul. It was like new. As soon as I picked it up I knew there was something special about that guitar. Not all Les Pauls are special but this one just felt right. So, for $599 with a hardshell case, I walked with a 2005 Gibson Les Paul Studio Faded T series. It has the old school wiring and sounds great. Sure, it doesn't have the bling of a Les Paul Standard but cosmetics do not make it sound or play great. It would be nice to have a custom shop Les Paul but, I have to be able to eat. If you close your eyes, a Les Paul Studio sounds the same as a Standard.
Nice! Love Duane Allman's style. Beautiful guitar!
Congrats. It's great to see someone so stoked about an instrument.
That’s so nice. Congrats!
Nice. Congratulations, beautiful axe, sounds awesome. Great video.
That's an amazing guitar! Happy for you brother. Wonderful playing.
Happy for you that you found the one
Dude that thing is BEAUTIFUL and it couldn't have found a better home!
Congratulations. That’s incredible
Congrats, you play it so well and completely do it justice!!! Can’t wait to hear you play it on your first LP!!!
Absolutely love this! So glad you were able to end up with this guitar. I can see and hear the connection with it. Congrats Dylan!
Dylan, just wanted to add that I own a "Rossington" LP. Now then Gibson had some leftovers from that run that they sold in Japan. Bought 1 for $3500.00 from a dealer in Japan. Gold Grovers and hardware. The only thing that was missing was the photos, etc. A beaut! I was also fortunate to have seen Duane's last concert in 1971 at Painter's Mill , MD. Baltimore The best! Still love playing his licks!
Thank you Jeff! A true gentleman! And Your playing you deserve it!
Congrats Dylan! It sounds and looks beautiful. Wishing you many creative hours with it.
Man that guitar is surely a beauty! Kudos to you for acquiring it.
Great Ax. Great playing.
Stunning Les Paul nice one!
Great video, beautiful story and guitar. You're very lucky. Enjoy!
Good for you brother, it's always nice seeing a dream come true. Beautiful guitar and great playing. Keep up the great work!!!!
The Mountain Jam part you did at the beginning was just fantastic.
Congratulations. Glad you explained the pickup covers, which I prefer too.
You sound fantastic on your new guitar!!! I think you’ve found your perfect dance partner!!!
That is a beautiful Burst and top - congrats
Heck yes! Congratulations!
There are good people in this world well played Jeff this trade brightens up the world with Dylan’s soulful play 🙏
Fantastic video buddy. That is one beautiful guitar and Jeff is one cool dude. Great introduction to this guitar and the intro and outer were awesome. I loved The Immigrant Song on Rhett's channel as well.
The figure of the wood, the chatoyancy, when you move the viewing angle, is awesome.
My favorite slide solo from Duane! ❤️ so good…..
Awsome guitar! Ur one of my favorite guitar players. Would love to hear some more full length covers on TH-cam with smokestack! Awesome playing as always 🎸
Love it! Also appreciate your amazing playing...
As a lifelong Duane fan I did a cottonmouthed spit take when I looked at the price, but man, if it makes you happy, and you do it justice. Nice guitar.
It’s incredible how the guitar goes from a plain-top to a flame-top as you tilt it! Beautiful!
Great story and a beautiful guitar! Thanks for sharing.
Congrats to you Dylan !
I've been playing guitar all my life and am also a huge ABB fan,I've seen them many times in my life.
I only started trying to play slide about 10 yrs.ago but you young man are my go to guy for slide technique and inspiration.
Thanks for all the great teaching kids!
Glad you got your dream guitar 👍. I just picked up an early reissue of live at Fillmore East, it’s a must have.
I was fortunate to hear them at the Fillmore a few times back then and Duane's tone was always otherworldly! I'm looking forward to seeing you live one day with that guitar after your honeymoon. Continued blessings... ❤❤❤
I agree with EVERYTHING you said and you have nailed the slide parts!! Please post the first two Duane leads on You Don't Love Me - not the solo, the first two leads - they blow me away and I think are some of his finest leads.
the disappearing flame is awesome on that thing man! Congrats
awesome man. good friends are priceless
That’s awesome man! Been missin your playin on a Gibson.
Awesome playing Mr. Adams. One of my favourite DA riffs. Thanks.
Thanks!!
Dylan, thank you for your dedication for the craft and artistry of slide guitar. I'm 70 now and you take me back to the days of my youth listening to Live At The Filmore for days at a time over an over! Comping riffs, learning the tunes and bonding with my old band mates way back then. I know you know, so I will forgo the obvious plethora of compliments I could bestow upon you. I would love to see your band live sometime. If you are ever playing near Orlando, please let me know! I am a fan boy . Congrats on receiving the Best Les Paul ever. I am so happy for you! You deserve it!
Oh man, you must be so stoked. I’ve always preferred Les Pauls with pick guards but that one with the pick up covers and the faded finish is just absolutely perfect as it is. And your playing is amazing as always.
Dylan, I think Duane is looking down on you saying yea, that's the way I did it. Good job.
That is a nice LP sweet sound enjoy!
Nice axe! Rock on, dude!
Outstanding! 🇦🇺
amazing playing. congratulations ;O)
