    For starters you could try using the correct end of the crow bar.

      Well said. With the correct end the lock and clasp would be off in no time.

    Weak point is now the hinge pins. One cut with bolt croppers and they come out. Take the hinges off one at a time and flip them over. You will probably need to cut a chamfer out of the door frame or cladding to accommodate the hinge. You may also need to drill new holes. Refit them using coach bolts. Result - a smooth surface with no hinge pins exposed. The only drawback of this is that the door may not open fully 180 degrees flat against the shed.

    Thank you so much! We bought a 12x20 prebuilt shed to transform into a woodworking shop. With all my equipment inside, I had to come up with a way of securing the doors...shed came with simple screw on hinges. I seriously thought I would have to replace original doors with newly built heavy doors in order to make the shed secure. This was the BEST video I have found that showed me how to secure the doors! I will still beef up the original doors but thankful I wont be completely building new doors! Great idea! I feel kinda silly I didn't think of this lol But so glad you did! Again, thank you so much!

      It's wood. It's not totally secure. No system is totally secure. You just want to make it painful enough that some other target looks better.

    Is it just me or when he was applying pressure to the hasp and it wasn't moving at all then suddenly it shifted the slack out of it then he promptly pushed that slack back the other way showing he must have not been applying as much pressure as he let on..at least that's what I seen.

    That padlock was the weakest link , a bigger crow bar with more force would bust that lock open , coach bolts and hinges were ok , but I would of put large heavy square washers on the back of each coach bolt for extra strength

      They show the potential burglar only having a crow bar, so let's just use that as an example... Insert the crow bar into the lock and twist... Either the lock will break or the hasp on the door will twist off... Some burglars use a pipe wrench to twist the lock body, but if the shackle of the lock is big enough to fit a crow bar in it, that would work too...

    You're obviously not as strong as a burglar. I had all that and they still broke in. Also with a screwdriver and a hammer they can punch that skinny lock or cut it. I don't see any real security there.

    The coach bolts I have seen have a square piece of metal at the top of the thread which will stop it going through a round hole. How can I get coach bolts without this square piece on the thread?

    • @arsecheese51
      @arsecheese51 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t worry if you can’t find ones without the square part, the wood is so soft on sheds that it will bang in with the hammer anyway.. and if not when you start to tighten down from the inside the square part will pull into the wood until the coach head is flush. The square part is intended for stopping the coach bolt spinning when inserted into a square hole punched into metal. Hope that helps
