President Nixon was the first leader I saw that was visibly devastated. President Nixon loved Pat Nixon and she endured much pain and suffering, but their vows of marriage covenant were unbreakable as well as their love. President Nixon never recovered from 1st Lady Nixon's death. It reminds me of the sorrow and pain I saw in my dad's eyes when my mom went from labor to reward.
There was some good documentaries about her life especially her early life and she really did live an extraordinary life and really was not a Pampered princess like some people might think

This has been proven because the government was worried that with her being Chinese that she might be a spy. So the FBI surveilled them. In fact, England was also concerned so their spy outfit the MI6 took photos of the two of them. The affair supposedly began in the late 50's when he was vice president and lasted into the 60's. It's also true that he beat his wife. Supposedly the abuse began sometime during his early years in Congress, between 1947 and 1950. And it lasted until after he resigned the presidency. One well documented case was right after he resigned and went back to San Clemente. He beat her so bad one day that she had to go to the emergency room. Someone at the hospital called a pretty well known investigative reporter and tipped him off. He came and saw that it was true. But he decided not to report it. You have to remember that things were different 50 years ago (as I well remember). People were kinder then and more respectful of people's privacy. Nixon was a private citizen then. However the reporter who's name is Seymour Hersh, later said that he made a mistake in not reporting it because he did not look at it that it was actually a crime.
She was one of loveliest First Lady, the quiet one I called her. Mr Nixon I heart aches for him here. He was stronger in his farewell speech. He was a man husband, father , brother son , grandfather, president and just a flawed human being who made a mistake. God bless him and family. In spite of every thing he was a good man!!

I was at the Nixon library on his 105th birthday ceremony and see both Pat & Richard grave. All I can say Richard Nixon got America out of that damn war called Vietnam.

Pat Nixon was truly a kind and gentle woman. After watching this beautiful service I wondered immediately why there wasn't just one notable Democrat in attendance. No Pres. Bill Clinton, no Jimmy Carter, no Ted Kennedy, no Coretta Scott King, no Jackie Kennedy, no Tip O'Neill, and yet Pat Nixon who served all Americans with class could not get a little respect from these people. The Clinton's sent Vernon Jordan as their representative. I was in the motorcade that brought Mrs. Nixon home to the library. I was driving the staff car. They were very upset that Hillary Clinton was not present. President Nixon believed it to be a snub. He continued to offer advice to Bill Clinton, but I can tell you he never fully forgave the Clinton's insensitivity. Neither have I.
I did not see any one from the Bush family in attendance. Maybe I did not see evertyone. I assumed they would be seated by the other former presidents.

Nixon was genuinely heartbroken and distraught by his wife's death. Whatever his faults, in the end he was a frail old man with his family as his solace. He had paid the price for his political mistakes with ignominy and disgrace. And a year later, he too was dead.
Pat was there for him through it all and was Nixon's strength through the darkest of his time. You don't openly sob like this unless you had a helluva woman at your side for 53 years.
I would volunteer at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library And Museum because he was President Of The United States the year I was born and Pat Nixon was First Lady.
Reggie makes a point. Nixon was despised by much of the public in the aftermath of gateway - his vulnerability as a human here is shown and the scorn is forgotten, temporarily or not. He was regarded for his clinical and cold ambition, clearly this isn’t completely true. The lesson might be that however we perceive someone we don’t know will never be the full truth, no matter how you see them now.

Barbara Bush, and then former President George HW Bush. In both of those situations, it was the former first lady who passed away first, and then the former president passed away second In President Reagan’s case it was he who died first and it was several years. Between the time he passed away, and the time Mrs. Reagan passed away.

Pat Nixon was truly a kind and gentle woman. After watching this beautiful service I wondered immediately why there wasn't just one notable Democrat in attendance. No Pres. Bill Clinton, no Jimmy Carter, no Ted Kennedy, no Coretta Scott King, no Jackie Kennedy, no Tip O'Neill, and yet Pat Nixon who served all Americans with class could not get a little respect from these people. Very , very sad.

The Clinton's sent Vernon Jordan as their representative. I was in the motorcade that brought Mrs. Nixon home to the library. I was driving the staff car. They were very upset that Hillary Clinton was not present. President Nixon believed it to be a snub. He continued to offer advice to Bill Clinton, but I can tell you he never fully forgave the Clinton's insensitivity. Neither have I.
I did not see any one from the Bush family in attendance. Maybe I did not see evertyone. I assumed they would be seated by the other former presidents.

They all had personal matters lady bird johnson was recovering from a stroke in hospital hillary Clinton was with her daughter on an important matter Jackie kennedy didn't attend because of private problems same with all of the others

Reggie makes a point. Nixon was despised by much of the public in the aftermath of gateway - his vulnerability as a human here is shown and the scorn is forgotten, temporarily or not. He was regarded for his clinical and cold ambition, clearly this isn’t completely true. The lesson might be that however we perceive someone we don’t know will never be the full truth, no matter how you see them now.
