Great review. Love your conclusion. The version in Canada has backlit and UHD . It is super crazy expensive 2.3K but I need the numpad. I thinking of buying because of the I/O and the touch screen. I have currently the Dell 5540 and the sounds sucks and it has no touchscreen.
Depends how long it lasts. People buy these for daily somewhat necessary business use. If it always runs for 3 years with no problems , daily work use it's worth it
haven't tried both models, but still leaning twd the thinkpad due to past experiences with both brands over the last 15 years (office issued). thinkpads just seem to last without slowing down or running into heating issues for years. was thinking of getting the amd version, any downside to picking amd over intel for laptops?
Great question. AMD will save you a bit of money, but Intel is a little bit faster. If you want "fastest and best" go with Intel. But if you want to save about 100 or so - go with the AMD.
@@ShinigamiDa I know amd does well on benchmarks, my concerns are more to do with other real world stuff like wifi connectivity (I see some complaints about the Qualcomm component having disconnects and being inferior to Intel), and any other potential conflicts with software. I primarily use tableau, powerbi and teradata.
I bought one few months back. With i7. Got hit by the infamous 0,39GHz throttling issue. Motheboard and cooling was replaced, no change. Now docking station (tested 3 units) stopped working (usb-c port controller died?). FYI: 32gb mem stick doesn't boot up. 16gb works fine. Laptop visually looks great, but I will go back to dell next time. //edit - another motherboard replacement is scheduled for tomorrow. Laptop is 4,5 months old.
Mobo replaced, at least docking stations work again. Dock firmware update app showed "DP hub" update error. DP = Display Port most likely. Throttling is another story.
The keyboard backlight should not be a part of the review of the laptop. You can actually order the keyboard with a backlight. Yours just didn't come with a backlight, so this is not an issue.
One would still be spending this money and we have a lot of viewers on this channel that assume they come with it by default. They don't. So it's worth mentioning.
This is not real Lenovo Thinkpad P16 Gen 2 laptop! 4:27 and 9:51 You can see ethernet port on left side of the laptop. The real P16G2 laptop does not have the ethernet port - this is the only common complaint about this laptop.
Real P16G2 laptop is the most powerful laptop in the world. It has best components money can buy, and it does not resemble laptop reviewed in this video - everything is different. Its most important component is it vapor chamber cooling system (a.k.a. heat pipe). This is the main reason I bought the ThinkPad P16G2 rather than Dell Mobile Precision 7680 or HP Zbook Fury 16 G10 - these laptops overheat and throttle. Other components of my new laptop: Intel Core i9-13950HX vPro CPU, 192GB RAM, 2x4TB SSD, NVIDIA RTX 5000 Ada GPU. I tested my new laptop with professional testing software called 3DMark. I ran test called Time Spy. The CPU throttled for about 10s in a test which lasted about 380s - good enough. 3DMark Time Spy score = 16500, GPU score = 17387, CPU score = 12800. I have three complaints about this laptop: its motherboard failed, its battery was not charging due to obsolete BIOS, and letters on its keyboard are almost invisible. The letters are thin and white. The keys have similar color - gray. (Warranty fixed first two problems.)
Dell looks like a better value, but believe me if it is not their highend lineups these hinge is gonna last exactly warranty period. Had inspiron 15, exactly what happened
Exact problem here: dell inspiron 15 3520, hinges totaled the who thing (LCD + backcover broke). I'd rather pay extra for more build quality over specs. Is this laptop good for that?
Hello what is your true opinion about a used dell XPS 17 9700 I7 10th 1650 ti touch screen With price 750 $ Do you recommend it? I have doubts about it 😅
I read that dell has thermal throttle is high and the price , the dealer told me that was 1000$ and now is on sale for 750 I doubt about the condition of this laptop
I'd worry more about the condition than anything else. Dells can have thermal issues but overall I think they're good machines. Maybe try to find another option. @@mohamadelassaad2087
Lenovo has literally ruined Trackpoint in 2022 for all T/P series (probably other too) with the introduction of the updated slimmer keyboards. It's completely unusable now, as many users complain. Auto-calibration causes cursor drift regularly and this is the hardware issue that can't be fixed by drivers. They have refused to acknowledge the problem for 3 generations now. I'm looking forward to Gen 4 (fearing it will be the same disappointment).
Silly quesiton: This laptop allows to use monitor of 120hz? Of course i dont want to play games on this, just want to know if i can use them. I got a monitor of 120hz and i just want to use it. or if i pludged to it, i will get just 60.
Sadly the ASUS PRO ART STUDIO has amazing speakers. It seems you are in the cinema. I would have wanted to have those kind of speakers in my Thinkpad T16
I feel like it wouldn't be a "feat" of engineering for Lenovo or Dell to put some rockin' speakers in their laptops but its so at the bottom of their priority list.

@ i definitely didn't pay 1k... i paid less than 500 cus it was on sale, and at the end of the day i was more excited about the rest of the specs than a stupid backlight
long time ago I had IBM T60 and that was just brilliantly excellent later on, then was X1 Carbon, but still confidently sure T series is the best the main feature of these laptops it is not about sound, as they are not movie watching or games playing, but it is their durability.

More natural and user centric review. Love it. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
I have this and.... not having a backlight is ridiculous. This should be standard on any laptop in today's world.
Agree'd.
Great & honest review! Lenovo could have provided increased peak brightness & more display options like 2.2K instead of just FHD and OLED.
Thank you! And agree'd.
4k oled drains the battery. I wish they had 2K like P1 series
Finally someone on TH-cam keeping it Raw👏🏻

The new Dells, most new laptops really, are migrating to metal on metal hinges so luckily the split hinge issue is becoming less of a problem.

I'd go Latitude.
