This was my first exposure to Eric Clapton. I was 6. I loved it. When I heard his classic music a few years later, I was like “that’s the guy from my Back to the Future soundtrack cassette!”
I saw this movie in 16 mm in 1988. Borrowed the film and rented the projector from the library. Played it over and over again -- this rocked my childhood.
I always wondered what song it was that played in the background when Marty returned to 1985. I never bothered to really look into it, until recently. Pretty good song.
I took my mother and father to see this back when it was in theaters because they'd love all of the old cars, etc. and they did! But I had to explain why I was laughing so hard when "the teacher" scolded Marty's band for being "Just too darned loud!!!". You see, the song that they were playing for their audition was written and performed my Huey Lewis.... and THAT guy IS Huey Lewis... :) LOVE when movies throw in cool little easter eggs like that!

True, but the scene they play it really brought out the moment. It was played at the right time to make that impact - without even considering the lyrics - it was a really catchy tune that sounded like a major accomplishment was capped off from the main character.
This is a hidden gem. I watched the trilogy few months ago but I didn't recognize Eric's voice on this song. I don't even remember hearing this song on the movie. Maybe I should go rewatch the trilogy.
IMHO one of the most amazing movie trilogy ever... How many mistakes could have been made just in casting the wrong actors... Besides some time-related questions this trilogy will acompany through my entire life...

Unfortunately, this song and Time Bomb Town from Lindsey Buckingham get very little airplay in the movie. Both are great!

Yes. Originally this song is an outtake from the album of Clapton named behind the sun. Collins is the producer of that album.
