Hello from Australia! Love your videos and look forward to every new release. Your "backyard" (and all the included wildlife) is amazing! Keep up the awesome work!
Smash beers are great. You can learn a lot about malts and hops. Munich Malt is very awsome indeed. Often instead of using pale ale malt and some cara malts to get this color one could just use munich malts. I played around with munich malts a bit. Made a smash lager with munich and tettnanger., was awesome. Tried Munich malt for an IPL. Worked also great. Was malty enough for me for an IPL. But I have to admit my local munich malt is darker than the weyermann type 2 munich malt. Vienna malt smash is also great to try. Very nice for lagers. Did also a vienna lager smash with saazer hops but dekoktion mash to get the right flavours for this style. Love Smash beers experiments!
Thanks mate, gave me something to think aboutthere I checked out the no chill video too it so makes sense how you word it thanks alot . Will try next brew. Cheers Dr
Love a SMaSH beer me. You find so much out about the hop profile even the AA lol. Love the Munich colour. I've so much of this so will try this. +your F/O addition and whirlpool/no chill. Breaks brewday up a bit. 10,000. That's pretty awesome. We'll played sir. 🍺
Thanks for talking about the mistakes. I think it is a lot easier to learn from mistakes than to learn from watching people do everything right. Of course we want everything to go right, but the real opportunity for growth is in the mistakes.
Great video Doc I especially enjoyed the brew footage. I am surprised you did not get a higher efficiency though. The bitter I brewed on Friday went the other way and I got 93% BE and I added an extra litre of Sparge water which didn’t alter it much. I wanted a 4.2% beer and it’s over 5% on a 4kg grain bill! Not what I wanted. I have never used the no chill method and I wonder if you don’t chill it , will it effect the flavour or bitterness as the hops will be cooling with the wort? I suppose you can try and filter them out before you let it sit overnight, cooling. Great video and loved the wildlife section too.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Very nice color from Munich! The additional bitterness could be from the long exposure time your hops had in the wort during the No-Chill procedure which we can definitely blame on Mikael. Love that you are polite to Siri.. Also, is there a music credit that you could give for the wonderful background track. Sounds very much like a Grateful Dead inspired type of jam band. Thanks again Dr Hans.
Hans, regarding the low efficiency mishap, try adding the grains in slowly while stirring, one of my efficiency problems were solved there, now my efficiency stays around 90-94%.
@@DrHansBrewery I see, so that means you had insufficient amount of grains, it is normal to have errors once in a while, good luck to you o next brewday 👍🍺
Hi. Why do you ferment at that high pressure? Most people recommend around 10psi. I've only brewed with Kveik for the last year. Some awesome results in short time but didn't know u could use other yeast and ferment hot under pressure. Don't you get any of flavours? The fermentasaurus /fermzilla is the best thing that's happened to homebrew in my opinion. Never going back to buckets
Just want to telling to you . I only watch commercial under your videos :) But i would have a question. About the malt grinder . You are driving one wheel of the grinder, is the other is stand still when its empty or theres some connection between the wheels?
@@DrHansBrewery Great ! im going to make one for myself . But sadly i doesnt seen a factory one in my hands . And my prototype wasnt working pretty good and it looks this is the problem . In that only one of the wheels are driven .
Hello DrHans. What kind of heater you are using inside your fridge? I did not know that it is possible to push US04 so much - I will try that in my Fermzilla :D
I put the pressure on to dial in my spunding valve. That will go down a bit as it starts to equal out in the tank between the liquid and the head space before fermentation kicks in. I dont put any more pressure on after the spunding valve has been dialed in.
@@DrHansBrewery first ever recipe I have made myself. very much winging it, but thought this sounded somewhat similar to yours so it cant be too bad! slainte & skål! from ireland.
Yes I know but I stirred as I always do. I did though try once not stirring just for sport and that was a disaster. I’m more leaning at that I might have forgotten to push the tear button on my scale.
Try as an experiment to keep splashing to a minimum during the mash. You will se that smell of mashing will be much lower. Aka less aroma lossed. How well that translates to the finished beer is another thing g of course. But of course it also depends on the beer. For a hop driven beer maybe it dosent matter as much. Experiment with it!
im brand new to this brewing thing ,,but i thought about something, for slower fermenting recipe....what if you put a stir bar a the bottom of a fermzilla..

Amazing video, friend. Thank for the upload. Already can't wait for the next one. I have watched every single one of your videos.
Thank you!
Cool video. I’m heavily dry hopping with mandarin bavaria in a few days. Whirlpooled with cascade and hbc586 experimental hop.
Thanks! Cool, I'll hope it turns out well.

Nice new style to your videos!
Thank you so much!
Wow really nice looking beer!! And your brewing system is really falling apart...looking forward to see what you get next!! Cheers buddy! 👍 🍺

Music I got from the youtube audio library. I blame everything on Mikael 🤣
G'day mate first time watcher and subscriber. just asking about the deer do you farm him and others or is it wild.
Cheers Christopher
hola, podrías especificar un poco los litros para el macerado y el lavado de grano? gracias y saludos desde México
Cool video and good to hear even the most experienced still make mistakes ;) The bigger system will be cool with the split batches :)
Nice video. What Oxygen Bottle did you use? Thanks.
Thanks! I buy them at the hardware store.

The Dr adressed a lot of these questions in his video "Pressurized Fermentation Q&A - Fermentasaurus, Fermzilla, Fermenter King JR".
Thanks Shreddad, yes in this video th-cam.com/video/-gyZOD-6x9s/w-d-xo.html
Cool, thanks. I'll check out the video. Keep up the good work Doc, they are very informative. Keep punching boundaries!

Thanks, yes they are conecteted by gears in the back so the first one drives the second one.

I'm using heating matts for terrariums
Wish my house was in beautiful place like that!
I love my forest!
Which brewing systems are you currently looking at?
I'm not sure yet.
quick question ,,when you set the pression at 2,4 bar ..do you restor the pressure before the fermentation does it on its own or you let it go
I put the pressure on to dial in my spunding valve. That will go down a bit as it starts to equal out in the tank between the liquid and the head space before fermentation kicks in. I dont put any more pressure on after the spunding valve has been dialed in.
@@DrHansBrewery thx ..i will join your patreon soon ,,all my $ went into the equipment, (just started) im broke for now lol
Which all in one system are you brewing in?
I use a system called BK35. It's not sold anymore.
I was going to do 10% munich and use Mandarine single hop but with Kveik Voss, would that work well?
Absolutely!
@@DrHansBrewery first ever recipe I have made myself. very much winging it, but thought this sounded somewhat similar to yours so it cant be too bad! slainte & skål! from ireland.
Can the cool sparge water have had anything to do with your lower efficency Dr.?
Dont think so. Have done it before and not got that issue.
I think the underletting is responsible for the low efficiency. It's easy to get dough balls that way
Yes I know but I stirred as I always do. I did though try once not stirring just for sport and that was a disaster. I’m more leaning at that I might have forgotten to push the tear button on my scale.
Why avoid splashing during sparge, what does that avoid? I wonder if the reduced efficiency for this batch was due to cold water sparge!!

Thank you and thanks for the feedback
Hallertau Mandarina Bavaria, alfa acid 8,9%. And who is that Mikael? Can´t trust anyone theese days.
I will point him out for you!
