  • Do you have eye floaters and are having trouble adapting to your floaters? These are 5 natural life hack remedies that you can do to help you not notice your floaters.
    IN THIS VIDEO
    These are the top 5 natural life ack remedies to help with eye floaters.
    1. Sunglasses are not only healthy for you eyes and skin around your eyes, but can help you not notice your floaters as much. Floaters an decrease the amount of light entering your eyes. Bright backgrounds make it so you see the shadows of your floaters. You can also tint contact lenses, or get Acuvue Oasys Transition contact lenses to help decrease the light as well.
    2. Decrease your computer screen brightness. You can use dark mode on digital screens so you don't have to look at a bright background as much.
    3. Darken your environment: One tip will be to get a large black presentation board and put it behind your screen. This will block the bright light behind the screens, which will help you adapt to eye floaters.
    4. Stay Active: try and keep busy to keep your brain occupied. This will keep you brain, and your eyes, from noticing your floaters.
    5. Atropine Eye drops. Diluted atropine eye drops are becoming more popular to help dilate eyes, and decrease the appearance of floaters.

    I think eye doctors should stop telling patients that their floaters will go away or become not noticeable over time because thats not true for most floaters sufferer. I believe there must be a commercial reason for pharmaceutical companies not interested in developing a drug or technology to treat floater effectively and safely.

      Also just remembered: fish oil supplements and warm compresses (I use dryeyemask) really helped a lot w/ dry eyes. My eye pressures also dropped enough that I no longer need glaucoma medication. That might be half of why the floaters are better, as my lens is 5x clearer.
      Good luck!

    As an eye floaters sufferer, let me say that this is an amazing video.
    Great, Practical tips given. I really hope the medical community finds a safe, non-invasive treatment/ cure for this terrible condition. Only the sufferers know how bad the problem is, unfortunately, more often than not trivialized by most doctors.

      I went to see an eye doctor about my cataracts, and while there, I mentioned my first floater. When he looked, he said it was the largest floater he had ever seen in 50 years of practice! Since then, I developed a second floater, but this is in the other eye. While floater 1 seems to be smaller now, floater 2 seems almost as big as floater 1 was in the beginning. At initial onset, each floater looked circular and black with black tendrils coming from the circular center. I thought that my first floater was a spider that had gotten into my eye. The second one look spidery as well. 😖 Sigh.

      @@ElizabethLawrenceBermuda I would love to see it! My first floater was the size of a spider, it was black and had what looked like several legs in my right eye. When I saw the Eye Doc, I was sure it WAS a spider until he explained floaters to me. At the time, he’d been practicing for over 40 years, and he said it was the biggest floater he had ever seen in his career! A little over as year later, it became smaller and no longer had tendrils, but last month, a new floater appeared in my left eye, large, black with tendrils. I hate them SO much! Would you be willing to share the fix with me, please?

    Thanks for the tip about the photochromic lenses. Once I looked for it but always ended up with the party lenses.
    I buy glasses online where you can choose the tint of the glass. Because you always have some sparkle in the glass and the frame of the glasses, the floaters are less noticeable.
    With a normal (flat)frame and 30 percent lenses, nobody will look at you strangely that you are wearing sunglasses inside.

    I've had the "typical" floaters since I was a kid! In recent years, more have appeared, and I also have large, opaque "blotches" which blur my central vision. If I quickly move my eyes in circular motions, they will often float on by. I'm sure that at some point in the future, a laser treatment will be safe and cost-effective! Thanks!

    Dr, u r doing a good job by providing us with such videos. I was crying very badly when this video popped up. Actually I was working on my laptop & if I remove my glasses, all I can see is floaters & (galaxy vision) (I don't know how else to describe it bcz when I go to doctors they act like it's a made up thing, I'll try to explain it's like moving small little shiny wavy objects & when I focus for a moment they increase tremendously & my vision gets blocked. I try my best to not focus on them)
    My floaters increased tremendously in past 1 year. Actually I had a small micro wound bcz my of my friends makeup brush, it happened in Feb 2020 & it's going to b almost 2 years & I ve been to many doctors. Next one is going to be my 20th appointment in 1 & a half yrs.
    For the 1st 6 to 7 months, doctors couldn't diagnose the problem & they kept on giving me antiviral medicine but then I had a tear test & I was diagnosed with dry eye disease along with blepharitis. The doctor said that I have to b consistent
    Right now I'm using cyclosporine +systane for dry eye
    And (blephamide) (eye ointment) for blepharitis
    I saw ur video & ordered an electric eye mask bcz I checked my meibomian glands & there was a little swollen up thing, they didn't look healthy but not much progress yet.
    Dr told me to b consistent & that blepharitis will be treated completely after 3 months. I'm almost at the end of 3rd month & my eye was doing good but suddenly today I woke up & my eye was again swollen, inflamed & as red as u can imagine.
    Can u tell me what is this galaxy vision bcz I told my doctor & he said that ur retina is healthy without having a fundoscopy (just on the base of his experience) & what else can I do to help with my eye health. I've been crying the whole day. Plz help.

    Great video. I'm a 20 y/o with anxiety and the floaters that appeared in my vision earlier this year have caused me lots of distress. Like you mentioned, the tpyical advice is 0 to 100, where first its ignore it and then if not that then a dangerous surgery, so I really appreciate the realistic advice provided here. My floaters aren't too awful, my optometrist says they likely will only slowly get worse over the course of decades, but it's still something I worry about frequently. Do you anticipate that medical developments will be made in our lifetime to safely eliminate floaters? Thanks again!

    Vitriolysis worked for me however there are limitations. The doctor can only zap what he can see, meaning only large dense floaters such as Weiss rings can be treated. The small particles and filaments cannot be treated. Also the floater can’t be too close to the retina or unintended damage to the retina may result.

My left eye if way way better and 1 session should be enough to life normally. You can find a new info on an experimental treatment when nanoparticles are injected, cling to your floaters and then YAGed by a quite weak longer YAG exposure by the particles actively absorbing the YAG wavelength and thus nor requiring a “short zap” - rather “cook” it slowly. It also does not require the “aiming”. Most probably there will not be even a need for a laser, just a lamp with a certain wavelength that will be absorbed by the nano-particles and go right through the clean parts of vitreous. Hope this will be available sooner rather than later.

    Funny thing happened to me on the way to the ground. I used to have really bad floaters. Then I fell off the roof of my butchershop, a about 30’ onto a concrete sidewalk. I flipped over, landed on my feet and walked away fine. But, I started having massive floaters. I went to my Opthamologist who diagnosed doing the dilations. It turned out I had ripped the vitrus fluid in my left eye away from the retina causing it to bleed internally. Apparently with age the fluid gets stiffer, I am 61. Two followup visits each with dilations showed the fluid cycling. Six weeks later the new massive floater was gone completely and I have almost no floaters. Now three and a half months later I have virtually no floaters. The theory is the fall jarred my head so hard that it caused the fluid to shift which ripped the retina. The healing cycled it cleaning it. I have had floaters all my life and had not known they could be gone. My vision is much better.

    Hi Dr EyeGuy,
    I have an unusual issue with my vision in one eye and hope you can share your expert opinion. I thought I was seeing a giant floater at first but then realised it's more like a liquid cloud covering the lower half of my vision. Literally looks like a glass half full of water with a straight line between normal and obstructed vision. Really is as if I'm seeing the gel in my eye as I can see it swirling and moving etc. Heard about something called a 'vitreous hemorrhage' recently and that seems the closest to what I'm experiencing but I can only guess.
    Any idea what I'm dealing with? Appreciate your opinion or any recommendation you have that can help.
    Thanks

    • @DrEyeGuy
      @DrEyeGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could be a vitreous hemorrhage, but are seeing any slight color with it...brown or red? I would for sure get it checked out by your eye doc. I do wonder if there is something going on with your vitreous, maybe some traction/pulling on the retina.

    • @_Kpex_
      @_Kpex_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Against a white background it does have a slight cream color if I focus on it, but any other time it's just grey with lines through it as if I'm looking through stained glass. Liquid stained glass even since the lines move around. It's been a couple of months now so yea I need to get it checked. I have an autoimmune disease called sarcoidosis that causes sever dry eyes and uveitis so I'm guessing that's the root cause.

    All over the net, many sights claim that some/most floaters will shrink / fade over the course of time. What is your experience with this? I've started to notice the one floater I have (popped in around 2.5 months ago, optometrist mentioned prior that I had floaters, but I never 'saw' them) -- it has shrank/faded to some degree, though it becomes more insistent if I don't sleep well and/or am tired. The fade is pretty perceptible, just lighter overall and "fuzzy" whereas it was first rather defined.

    • @Resist4

      Floaters don't shrink or fade over time, but they do move. Just remember what floaters are and why they form as we age.

    • @DrEyeGuy
      @DrEyeGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They don't necessarily shrink or fade, but our perception of them can "fade", but the floater doesn't necessarily fade.

    • @sartavin
      @sartavin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@DrEyeGuy For example, I went outside and looked at the sky. A floater sort of popped in, and then disappeared. It didn't 'flick away', it just disappeared. Is it moving through the eye? I've never seen this one before btw, just today for like a second. The other one I was talking about just seems fuzzier and less intrusive, after 2-3 months from when it started to appear in my vision. This one flickers into view in when I move my eyes to the left, and disappears if I flick my eye to the right. If I'm tired or stressed it appears darker, but overall it is lighter and fuzzier (less distinct). So my brain is starting to compensate for the arrival of the dark spots, and 'fading' them? Also, my left eye (where I'm seeing the floaters) is suffering dry eye/digital eye strain for the past few months, and I sometimes feel pressure from the tissue around the eye (swollen/strained eye muscles), does this contribute to the appearance/frequency of the floaters? Thanks for responding.

    I have had floaters for years, they are annoying more than anything but recently after waking from a nap I had a bright jet black floater in my cataract surgery eye. All other floaters in my eye are more of a faded grey, but this floater stood out. Next morning, there was a gelatinous rather big floater that would float past my field of vision then disappear only to return when I would change direction with my eye. I went to the ophthalmologist as I was very concerned. Macula looked good, no retina detachment. She said, "I've no idea why you developed this floater" I asked, "what is that jelly like substance that floats across my eye?" and she says it is the tail end of the black floater. I have never experienced this in my life. So I ask her," ok, so what is the treatment?" and she says that there is nothing that can be done. Sometimes the body absorbs it and sometimes people just live with it. I was shocked to hear this. This was 2 weeks ago. Today, the jet black floater has faded to the usual faded grey similar to the others but that jelly like floater remains. Has anyone else experienced this?

      That could depend on the person, and the type of floater. Some people see their more central floaters being the darker ones.

    I have floaters on my left eye, since 3 days. Yesterday at the emergency l was told that there's not detachment from the retina. I was told also, if l'm worried , to go to an eye hospital to have a check by an eye doctor,; which l will do tomorrow. I'm in London. My question is , l don't have any flash light, but if l move very quickly my head from right to left and form left to right, especially with closed eyes, l notice like curve at the side of almost light, but l don't see that if l don't move it quickly. Is that bad?

    • @DrEyeGuy
      @DrEyeGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seeing lights or phosphenes are common with new floaters or a shift in the vitreous gel in the eye. That gel can tug or push on the eye, especially when moving quickly that can cause these lights or half lights. It's good that you are getting it checked, any new floaters and lights, even lights with quick movements, I would get them checked by the eye doc for sure.

      @@DrEyeGuy Hi again. Just to let you know. I attended my eye hospital appointment. I was told it's all right. The retina is totally fine. It was a very accurate examination. More than one hour. First with the nurse, l was examined the eyes, the sight. Then after putting two types of eye drops l was fully examined by the eye doctor. It was very uncomfortable with the drops while l was travelling back home. What l don't fully understand is: why, in case the floaters are adjusted by the brain and it takes time, l already see them much less? Anyway thank you very much for your attention, l really appreciated it. 👍 I subscribed to you yr channel as it's interesting, and l like the way you explain things.
      Have a nice evening. 👍
